What Asmon is trying to say is that you really CAN'T take QoL features away from the players, but you CAN start with a more slower or almost tedious gameplay and grant it QoL features later.
Thanks for the shoutout, it’s been a long hard road for Pantheon fans, but every supporter getting access is pretty cool and the community is pretty excited. And the game is fun, as more people can try it out themselves more people will see its fun : if you like the old school design philosophy of the classic MMOs

Like I understand it may be fun. But that seems to stem more from it being the older style of MMO, not from any visual or engine systems. The "combat" scenes in this video just demonstrate how utterly terribly they have enacted combat. In a game designed around... you guessed it, combat. Sure it is PvE. But it is still fighting. The guy weakly pushing two daggers one at a time towards the enemy honestly made me sigh. That looks worse than DAoC melee combat, and that game was released back in 2001. After 10 years of development I'd expect not only the combat animations, but the *entire game and engine* to look like someone had been over it with a fine toothed comb. It's bad. The reasons or excuses don't matter.
And PS : I've created the dragon's sound myself, so it's not stolen. I can share the sessions with you. Please avoid discussing things you're not knowledgeable about my job ty .
My prediction - there are 2 possible outcomes: A) This gonna come up in about 2 years, very rushed, very unpolished, and looking like another 10 year old MMO clone with and a handful of "features" than more of annoyance than benefits - such as artificially increasing game difficulty for the sake of making game look changeling . It will get a very modest start with maybe 100k players joining in, and quickly fall down to like 20k players at most. or B) This thing gonna be in development for another 5+ years after which all existing devs attached to the project will just quit and project will be shut down due to "lack of funds"

A game where if you want to level your character you will need to rely on finding people to group with, make relationships with people, and really grind out those levels together... and very much not like how most games are these days where you can solo level yourself to the end game and only have to talk to people if you want to raid.
Kind of. The weird thing about EQ is people feel this way, but it was very solo able, except for some gear. Necros, Mages, Druids, Shamans, Enchanters, Wizards, Bards, SKs and eventually Beastmasters could solo very well and only SKs were gear reliant. The other classes just mostly wanted levels and spells. New games are just complete solo fests. It's so over the top. The story has you as a hero. It's not even the same genre anymore.

You can make an older style systems MMO without reverting back to the same graphics and engines from that time. Nothing about how the fighting animations or world looks needs to be related to the dice rolling backend style of combat equations. It is either a choice or a failing on their part to make the game look *and* move terribly. I'm all for an older style system for an MMO. I'd just like to be impressed with the visuals too. @@TheMr02drop
I miss the level 3 deer. I lost interest Pantheon many years ago, but as for the continued interest in the game shown by some people, you have to understand that EQ was such a heavy drug that nothing else came close. Some of us went back to private servers, but as for new games, the main game that interests most of us now is Monsters & Memories.

I loved EQ1 and played since 2000. I was an original backer of Pantheon on Kickstarter but that failed. So I then pledged on their website for $600 for Alpha access ONLY to back the game as Brad McQuaid was doing it and seriously thought it was worth it. Since the loss of Brad, sadly. The game have gone to a worse state than my local public toilets. I have waited over 10 years, never said a bad word and a couple of months ago I was granted access to test for a short while along with others. After over 10 years and much anticipation and longing for this game, I could not even be bothered to install the alpha access game to have a look. This is what the now so called Dev's have done to ruin a dream of not only Brad but us long time loving eq fans.
I think $50 for the weeks and weeks of content you can milk this for seems a no brainer. You could talk about it while showing stick figure drawings representing what happened in game and slap a "This drawing is way better than the actual in game art used for this game". Pappa needs new shoes, am I right? You know I'm right.

Umm... I'd just like to point out that during gameplay in bottom right corner it says "In Development - Art and Animations Are Not Final" so it means that gameplay loops and mechanics are finished and if you complain later then.... well you are f'ed.
AoC is $250 for full A2 access for the entire alpha that runs into the betas, which you also get access to. So no not $700 like pantheon full access and not time gated to a week per "season" $50 option
