- I have made a lot of jigging rap walleye videos in the past, but I've learned a lot since then. This video is all my recent thoughts on how to best utilize a jigging rap to catch more walleyes in all conditions.

Thanks for posting these. We’ve got a decent saugeye fishery nearby, and you’ve helped me find and catch more fish.
Also, you’ve stepped up your editing game, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for that! And glad I can help some!
Just started to focus more on reaction baits and def needed this. Won a handful of shadow raps and jigging wrap magnums in a tournament and have been tying them on as much as possible. I’m taking notes on cadence here, thanks.
Glad to help some.
Interesting insights - always learning, tweaking, expanding. 👊
Thanks, TW!
Great video, thank you for sharing!
Thanks, you bet!
Great perspective! I ready for the weather to stabilize as well.
You and me both!
Absolutely helps man I need to dial this bite in
Glad to hear it!
nice video dutchmen😉greatings from the nederlands blijf vissen blijf video,s posten
Thanks!
The weather in the south is brutal!! Heat index yesterday was 114🥵🥵 too hot for me to fish😢😢
Holy crap!
Just a wealth of knowledge. When is the sport-show or Scheel's seminar? I'm expecting it within 2 years here. That's giving you some time to get it set up. ;)
I’m open to it ☺️
The boat is hitched up in the yard but when the time comes to go, its been windy and wet without enough time for that water to settle back out. Hot weather coming next week. Hopefully the middle part of the lake gets good, else its more bass fishing. These flooded bays this year are fun.
Flooded bays eh? For just bass or?
@@BloemendaalFishing Mostly smallmouth but occasional catfish, white bass, and pike. Its rare but Ive seen walleye in those backwaters too.
I’ve certainly seen it in the past, not as much this year yet
I like going in there with finesse baits, topwaters if calm enough and casting against all that cover, sometimes sight fishing. Even fly fishing it occasionally. Usually able to come out with a variety of nice fish.
Hi Brett. Can you help a fellow Brett out?
I’m pretty green with jigging raps…when? (Time of year? Weather pattern) and where? (Depth, structure?) do I want to try them?
Thanks!
The fall is best for me, but late summer and sometimes mid summer can be good too. I like them concentrated somewhere on a shelf, point or hump, but I’ve also done well with them casting shallow flats if there are enough around and they’re willing to take. Best place to start and learn, though, is probably vertical in 20-30 feet where you can stay on a school of fish.
You need a clothing sponsor. Give Simms or Blackfish a call.
Be cool if they went for it.
Do you ever fish shivers or hyper rattles?
I fish hyper rattles some. Not so much shivers.
@@BloemendaalFishing I fish all three and for whatever reason some days the walleyes one over the other. Walleyes are like women, IMPOSSIBLE to predict!!
Yeah, if I’m stuck in snap jigging, I try all sorts. Hasn’t had much luck with shivers in the past so just haven’t kept many around, but I know they work for other people.
I’ve had far better luck with Shiver minnows. Rippin’ em and letting them fall on slack line.
I appreciate your insight and for you being open and sharing techniques. Thanks
Are you using a swivel?
I just use a snap, no swivel. With braid not having memory and the heavy leader line preventing fouled hooks on the lure, I don't see a need for a swivel.
Lots of ways. At 70 been fishing them 40 years or so. I think the most important thing to do is get off the couch and experiment
That’s a helpful tip for sure
Wow, be sides have the wrong rod,? Should have a 7' medium, fast, mod, go see St Croix, they, are experts, And ovesly you watch Tommy, people like your self are Ears, they only know what they hear, but your, doing a good job, for. Avid, angler, 😊
Thanks I think?
He literally spent 2 mins explaining why he was using a medium lite. Take your meds.
