Hi @random1883. With a large treble hook, you would run into the problem of having the fish stay hooked when you're reeling it in. A large treble hook tend to not get a good hold inside the fish mouth.

We suggest using Mustad J-Assist 1 or 2 Heavy Duty Assist Hooks Size 6/0 or 7/0 for Rip Roller jigs weighing between 300-500g. Any advantages/disadvantages of using something like a large Owner ST-66 treble hook at the bottom instead?
