  • Want FREE Dremel Rotary Tool parts & accessories? I will show you my Dialed In ways to make them quicker with greater precision than before. It is easy to make these Dremel Tool parts and best of all they work great! In this video I will show you my DIY sanding discs, grinding discs, polishing - buffing discs & cut off discs. Easy & cheap (inexpensive type of cheap) Dremel Rotary Tool parts that work great... Now that's a cool DIY Hack.
    This video focuses upon 6 great tips and tricks for making better Dremel Tool accessories. New hacks include making better shafts that are easier to work with, easier centering (finding your center), options for part heads (mounting surfaces), more secure connections between shaft and head of your tools, making more consistent sanding/polishing discs quickly, and an adhesive that is much easier to work with.

    Warning: be very cautious when using homemade rotary tool accessories. Ensure that you have adequate protective gear in place. Before using DIY parts check for loose materials, confirm the shaft is locked firmly in the chuck (the part that holds the accessories onto the Dremel Tool) and make sure that all of your parts remained secure (by screw, adhesive, etc.) Just like store bought parts these can chip off pieces of material from the cutting surface as well as the tool bit itself so protect yourself at all times.

    Great tips. Loved the center finder tip with a sticky note, as I struggled in this area because I had no real method.

    Dremel Stylus was the best drill they ever made. I bought 6 for my handy neighbors for xmas several years ago but alas these smart clever men could not get the hang of the new style. Now Dremel doesn’t make this drill anymore...probably too many customers like my neighbors who couldn’t figure out the unique design. Sad.

    I love it, love how honestly you’re into helping, instead of accepting silently that dremel bits and etc is cheap, because many of them does seems like a no problem with buying tons of accessories, I admit it won’t be me because I find it ridiculous rip off price. (Except for the machine, the tool itself is a real beauty.) got myself 4300.

    People just need to wake up and be real to help majority who love to do handcrafting but because of the price, crafting ain’t for rich only come on, don’t make it like the same as playing Golf..? Good job for educating the masses and keep the good work going, the exposing of many things need to continue.

      Thank you very much for the kind words! I really do enjoy finding ways to either repurpose old parts (instead of sending them to land fills) or making my own parts. Many times it would be much easier to just go buy something but I like the challenge of trying to figure out how to do it myself. I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to comment!

    They sell tools for marking the center of round objects, but you can easily make your own;
    Get a piece of cardboard and draw a line across it, then mark the center of that line. Draw a line coming up at a perfect 90 degrees from that center point, like an inverted "T". Make sure to keep the lines as square as possible. Draw two more lines from that center point, going up at about a 45-60 degree angle on either side of the first line. Whatever angle you use, make sure both lines are the same and as accurate as you can make them. When done, it should look like a "V" on top of the Inverted "T".
    Take two square sticks, and line their edges up with the OUTSIDE edges of the angled lines and glue them in place. You want the sticks to form the exact same "V" as the lines you drew. Finally, carefully cut a slot in the cardboard along the center line. Make sure to keep it straight, but make it wide enough to be able to stick the point of a pencil/pen/marker through it. When done, you should have a piece of cardboard with a perfect "V" made out of sticks and a slot right down the center.
    To use, turn over so the sticks are on the underside and place it on the end of whatever round object you want to find the center of. Slide it into the "V" until it stops, then use the slot to draw a line on it. Turn it 90 degrees and draw another line. Where the lines cross is the center. The "V" ensures that the guide is centered on the object and the slot will always cross the center of it.
    To make a more durable version, I suggest using a piece of Lexan instead of cardboard. Or even a thin piece of wood.

      @@DialedInDIY My pleasure. :)
      BTW, I just corrected a mistake I made. I originally said to draw two angled lines at 45-90 angles, but 90 degrees would be the same as the center line. It should have been 46-60 degrees. The steeper the lines, the easier it will be to center round objects between them, but too steep and your object might not fit between them.

    I've worn down both my Dremel and the Chicago brand Moto Tools small Buttons for locking the bit's down. "Buy another one..." Is under $100, now Inexpensive to everyone else?
    Are there replacement part catalogs? Or ideas to repair this, available?
    Thanks for your Videos. Hope your Holidays are Blessed.

      I have replaced several parts on multiple models but not that part. I did a quick check on the Dremel site and I did not find an easy replacement. I will check mine to see if there seems to be a way to fix or replace that part. Great question.

    • @Happily_retired
      @Happily_retired 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mary, I assume you are using the lock pins to stop the shaft when you turn off the Dremel.(?) If you do get them repaired (or replaced) I suggest you stop doing this. That pin is not intended to be a brake, just a way to lock the shaft when changing tools/bits. Let the shaft spin down on its own when you turn it off.

    • @DialedInDIY
      @DialedInDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be annoying; 1 is bad enough but 3 starts to seem personal (LOL). Couple quick questions first. 1. How old are the 3? 2. Do they seem to hold a charge (can you see any sign of powering on)? 3. Do they all have the same problem?

      Shit can em and get yerself a corded Dremel, that way you never run out of power. No, don't do that. Check your motor brushes and commutator to make sure they're all in good shape and go from there. Maybe the on/off switch, maybe replace the rechargable battery pack. Not a whole lot to it ...

    • @DialedInDIY

      One option would be to make some parts for a Dremel. On line purchase is another... possibly Amazon. I have been to Jamaica but could not come close to answering to a specific retailer to purchase Dremel parts.

    Why the gloves ?

    • @DialedInDIY
      @DialedInDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A good and observant question (since there was no logical, obvious reason for wearing them). There are times when I have some damage to my hands from other activities/projects, like when I filmed parts of this video, and I don't want it to be a distraction from the content. So I glove up to cover the injuries. Thanks for watching my video!

      Also, you can pick up metal splinters from cutting or grinding metal quite easily, so gloves are a good option.
