at the furniture factory i used to work, we would do routing of all sorts, in store bought machines , in home made machines we built, and in just a router table & by hand in templates & free handed... ive had prolly 100 or so bits ruin the work piece because it would creep out of the collet, i tried several fixes, tighten collet so tight that almost couldnt get it loose, ect.. one thing i learned was ; if you bottom the bit out into the collet, they seemed to creep out.. any way ; we had tons of different bits & some would get rusty , i got a bit one time & the shaft was a little rusty so i just gently buffed it up on the belt edge sander. i normally kept 80grt. belts on , so i was real gentle, but it did leave the scratching you get from 80grt. suprisingly it gave the collet super grip on the bit shank... after that , i NEVER had another bit creep out... on work pieces that was prone to creep because of stress & forced cutting, i would pre sand the bits & we NEVER had a problem with that again.. maybe this will help some people

It's what I use, and for the price to get started or even use all the time (like me), can't be beat.

I have a Dremel 3000 and it works great and they're not very expensive, if you buy Dremel directly from the Dremel company you can find some excellent deals 👍

Thank you so much for posting this video. I have a Chicago Elec. rotary tool, and got a Dremel Flex Shaft tool for Christmas which has same issue with adapting the flex shaft to fit. I tried your hack and it worked perfectly. Thanks, again.

    Jordy !...
You solved a problem I have...
See..brother has all these different rotory motors..some have mixed matched flex-shaft attachments that aren't compatible...now I see what you did using the collet to secure the square inner shaft !...I'll be going through his collection to see what is usable...genius !...
Yeah I couldn't use them so that's when I bought the 3000 but you have perhaps given me some extra tools...thank you..👍😉...
    See ya...🌿🌿🌿

Iv had 2 now that just blow up
My last one only used it few times then went to sand something and it went bang had a flash out the back and tripped my fuse box never had any warning like funny sounds just went bang. My first one worked few months then started sounding funny so looked at the brushes and was ok then it just stopped lol I’m on my 3rd one now. Any tips
I do change speed if cutting or sanding

Yes turn low for sanding if ur using the mandrel. I noticed the wens really do not like the sanding mandrels because to much force
