    Lisa Elle The type of roast used for pulled pork is a pork butt (shoulder roast)...the key to cooking this cut of meat to perfection (moist, tender, & succulent) is low and slow (anywhere from 8-10 hrs on low in the crock pot). And as for the sauce...you can make your own or a good over the counter one is Sweet Baby Rays (you can also use a store bought sauce as a base and doctor it up to your liking)...some ppl also prefer a vineager sauce. Hope this helped :-)

      Thank YOU for clarifying which SPECIFIC roast you should use. SHAME ON YOU, ALLRECIPES for being sloppy in not being clear as to whether a Boston Butt or a Picnic Shoulder should be used.

    We've got you covered, vannokouch1000. This recipe makes 8 servings. (You can find the link to the original recipe to see the number of servings by clicking the link at the top of the page--right below the "Published on" date.) Here's how to adapt the recipe for 25 servings. (It's easy; the computer does the calculations.)
    To change the number of servings for any recipe, click on the link to open the original recipe page. This one: allrecipes.com/recipe/92462/slow-cooker-texas-pulled-pork/
    1) Then, find the gray bar underneath the photo. Just below this bar, find the word “Ingredients” and look to the right side of the page where there are small gray icons (a clock, a circle divided into sections, a bar chart).
    2) Click on the gray divided circle, and a box will open with a smaller box next to the word “Adjust.”
    3) Type the number of servings you want to change the recipe to (or use the up and down arrows), and click on the word “Adjust.” The computer will automatically change all the ingredient amounts to make this quantity.
    You're ready to start cooking!

    How do you make pulled pork belly

  • @CosmicStargoat
    @CosmicStargoat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've done Boston Butt in the crock pot for decades. What I do is rub the butt with mustard, then apply the rub and let it marinate for several hours. Into the crock pot with some marinade like Wickers™ or even just apple juice will do. I cook on slow until I get 195° internal temperature, let it rest and cool, then pull it apart and put in an aluminum pan. THEN it goes on the charcoal smoker or Bradley with hickory, fruit wood, etc. to smoke, not cook. I reseason with rub first, then sauce.

    • @PoeLemic
      @PoeLemic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How long do you cook it on smoker part? That's a good idea. Is the alumium pan, does it have holes? Or, is it a costco 13 x 9 alumium pan? Please do let me know. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

    Hi this is Ben fro crock pot king, try Big Lots, or Target, or Kmart they have the best deals. And always go big. I found a 7 qt. for $25 at one time. Reason being you never know if your going to have company, or double, or triple a recipe, so you don't have to do a a lot of cooking. Just freeze the left overs.

    My crock pot is a bit smaller than this one....and I used a 6lb roast. With the liquid, it's right at the rim of the pot right now....hoping this doesn't overflow while I sleep tonight, haha. I've done this before, and if I remember right it turned out well. But not as good as when I actually take the 10-12 hours and smoke a pork butt on my weber grill.

    Is there different between slow cooking and cooking with pressure cooker?

    • @thegrandeffect5308
      @thegrandeffect5308 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gag gagag yes, a slow cooker is something you can cook something for a long time, this can be anywhere from 4-10 hours, even 12. When you cook with one it incorporate all the flavour. A pressure cooker cooks something faster than traditional cooking would. Slow cooker and pressure cookers are literally the opposite cooking method

    Isnt there quite abit of oil in the liquid when you add the meat back into the cooker?

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There won't be a lot of oil from the meat, chilled99. Pork roasts these days are quite lean. (The recipe only calls for 1 vegetable teaspoon of oil.) The sauce is created by the condensation inside the slow cooker, plus the vinegar, chicken broth and barbecue sauce. Here's a link to the original recipe if you wish to review ingredients: allrecipes.com/recipe/92462/slow-cooker-texas-pulled-pork/. Hope you try it!

    Definitely not true Texas BBQ. Need to dry rub well into the meat and add your spices to it and then place all the other ingredients into a large measuring cup or bowl and mix well then place some of the ingredients mixture in the bottom of the slow cooker, add the seasoned well rubbed pork meat into the slow cooker and then set your time and temperature.
    All the rub and seasonings as well as other ingredients will flavor the pork well so no need to marinade it overnight.
    Many times I may make it like this recipe above, but then also wrap hickory or mesquite smoked thick bacon slices around the pork so the bacon is wrapped around it making around 7 rings total, or more depending on the size of the pork roast.
    Now that is how you really cook Texas pork BBQ.....the real Texas way with plenty rub and seasonings and low and slow.
    This recipe is great when you don't want to BBQ outside........especially when the Texas weather is wet and cold, or thundering like mad:).

      While you are right at some point, pulled pork is usually shredded and placed back into the pot of its own sauces since the only flavored part of the chuck roast is the outer layer. So, you don’t need to worry about it losing its juices. For prime ribs or steaks and other grilled or seared meat, however, it will be applicable.

  • @613Stuart
