I think Mathurin is either starting or sixth man of the year. I anticipate him being paired with Ty a lot either in place of Drew or AA. I don't think Pacers are going as deep on the bench and we won't see the platoon style changes and less of TJ.
I don't know how y'all can't see how great ben could be, y'all have to remember a player has to mature and get comfortable. Pg 13 took off n year 3 and looked worser then ben has first two years
Just wanted to throw this show idea at you: How Could the Pacers Win the Title This Year? Basically, what are some realistic upside cases for individual Pacers that could see the Pacers win the championship? For example: Hali plays like 1/3rd of the 2024 season all year, Siakam gets back to being a plus defender, and Nembhard plays at ECF level all season. Would that do it? Would somebody else need to make a leap? There's lots of different possible permutations that would be interesting to look into.
The Pacers should offer TJ the longest extension possible and structure it so he gets paid with it being team friendly as possible. I probably add a no trade clause which he could waive if an opportunity he wants is available.
I think the most likely reason for the starting 5 to change would be Nembhard or Nesmith being traded. I put the odds of that over 500 as I think we do that to get tax room to keep Myles.
What are the odds a sportscaster will say, "TJ McConnell doesn't play much but is a guy this Pacers team loves in the locker room." I think 65% he's not playing regularly and not shopped for a trade by the Pacers.
Pacers have to keep Turner. Because without Turner siakam isn't gonna be near as effective and will be wayyyyy overpaid for what he can do. Siamam knows it and that's why he wanted to come to pacers in the first place. Loose Turner and that money is wasted on siakam
@@kylealexander1587Agreed but he's not a max player wit Turner in my opinion either. I think that's a big reason why he went to the Pacers as well bcuz he didn't have a lot of teams with upside wanting to pay him the max.
I wish I had the same faith in Mathurin as Jimmy Cook lol

@@mnance9111 I think Tony is not down on Mathurin as high on Drew and to a lesser extent AA.
That you Tony and Jimmy. Very optimistic about this season. We got to keep this group together

Thanks Tony, I appreciate the post-facto evaluation. Lots of podcasts make predictions but few actually confront their bad takes.
I think it's necessary and important to know *why* also
ECF again this year 💯

i think they need to trade obi and nesmith for grant they need to establish clear 3rd option guy
I don't see Nembhard for a shooting guard but I do see him traded for a wing-sized wing - a taller Nesmith.
We did not fix our biggest needs. D and rebounding. I see a similar record with a 1st round exit unless nembhard and math improve significantly.
i think mathurin needs to have a legit year he needs to be 18ppg guy this season
What are the odds that 1) Nembhard is traded, 2) Nesmith is traded, 3) Toppin is traded, 4) Wiseman gets more minutes than Jackson?
The odds of 4 happening are definitely zero: Wiseman is a horrible player.

Mathurin is not enough to beat these teams in the East consistently. Pacers are gonna be 45-48 wins again and will likely be a 6-7 seed
Thankfully we have 2 Allstars and the best depth in the league!

In all honesty siakam should not have taken a max contract and left money to keep Turner. He's not a max player without Turner.

I agreed with everything cook said ben is going to be a star and will start over nesmith or nembhard
