I tried the lock to lock method today and I finally did it can’t believe it after months of struggling Thankyou for these videos guys got my test on Sunday feel more confident after watching these
Laura's lock to lock method for parallel parking helped me to pass my driving test last week🎉🎉 I spent 3 hours of driving lessons on that maneuver and just couldn't get my head round it it until I watched this video several times and put it into practice with my instructor, who was reluctant for us to try it!! Thank you both!
It's the easiest manoeuvre to get, I got it on my actual exam. Pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths, REALLY check your blindspot before setting off and mirrors as you reverse, stop reversing if someone is about to pass you
I took bits from both of your parallel parking on my lesson today. Vehicle I'm parked next to in my back passenger window, and the 1/2/1 method when the car got to 2 o'clock. I do think when I pass I will be more likely to try Laura's method but for now it's what makes me comfortable and what helps me get a pass.
Some really useful tips there. As an heads up, 7.03, you may now be asked to reverse bay park anywhere on the test route, as well as test centre car park.
I’m a PDI, this is really helpful in knowing different methods for parking. For parallel parking I was taught mirror inline with front of the car, do a half turn, when the kerb disappears in the mirror full lock right then when it’s 2 minutes to 12 straighten up 👍🏼
Awesome! What stage are you at Lindsay? I’d definitely recommend Laura’s reverse bay method to have a go at. I tried it after we filmed and its so easy!
@@DrivingSchoolTV I’m at the pink ticket stage, nearly time to get a test date booked 😬 yeah I’ve never heard of that one before, I’ve taken note so I have various methods on the go 👍🏼
If you consider the clock face (360 degrees) is divided into twelve numbered sections it will follow that each number has a 30 degrees sector. If you wait until your car is pointed at 2 o'clock you wont be at 45 degrees but 60 degrees off parallel to the kerb line. 45 degrees is midway between the 1 and 2 o'clock positions. Even at 45 degrees and using full lock firstly to the left then travelling slightly too far it will be very difficult to recover from if you have not gone far enough past the object vehicle. With high numbers of approach angle it can more easily become irrecoverable without moving forward a bit and if you went too close to the object vehicle there might not be enough room to move forward without examiner thinking too close. in addition when using full lock on a car at any time if you need a bit more lock it is not available. On test it will be a lot easier choosing the shallower approach.
Great video, you guys are hilarious. Just to add, the reverse bay park can now be done in a public car park, not always at the test centre. The outtakes just show even as instructors, we don't always get it right first time; it's all about the correction and the end result and good editing. 🤣🤣
Good editing helps a lot 😂😉 You’re right they did trial the RBP in public car parks at a few DTCs but it hasn’t been rolled out as a new policy yet. The DT1 still only refers to RBP at a test centre. It’s pretty mad though I hope they change it soon!
For me lock to lock didn't work as good every time. If im close to the side it works but otherwise it creates a big angle to the pavement and i can't judge the distance. I have a 2018 hyundai i10 which has one of the tightest turning circles so that might be the reason. I've just started trying parallel parking close to a curb and ive had the car for 3 months. This method does work best when im already close to the wall outside my house for eg but i have tried once the lock, middle, lock position and it worked. Idk though, i was never good at parking and im still trying to find the reference points for my car
14:38 no way you're not hitting the kerb if you keep going from that position. If it's supposed to be a competition about which methods/drivers are best why cut it out? I hope you show it later. :)
Great video, Laura is a great instructor, she's got the skillz! Love her dirty laugh too! 😜 I just need to be able to bay park like that and I'll be laughing come my test date... (Well, that and just generally be able to drive well all round which isn't happening so far 🤨😬)
Reverse 2 cars back is totally pointless in almost 30 years driving I've never used it. More likely to use reverse around a corner or turn in the road In the real world. Laura for the win as her methods are about teaching to drive in the real world. Teaching people to drive is far more important, then when they do pass they have a better standard of driving
You get a minor if you don’t straighten your tyres. Going a bit fast could be a minor depending on how safe you do it but if you’re not in control of the car at that speed then that could result in a serious fault
@@DrivingSchoolTV ok because I’ve done the test in august and got serious for control and three not being straight and in terms of moving off is the gap supposed to be 20mm from the car behind or in front ?
Ah yes. You can only get one minor for control on your manoeuvre before it turns into a serious fault. That’s unfortunate I hope you’ve got another test booked and you get some more practice before then.
And that's why I don't think reference points are a good way to learn, they vary greatly by car. Much better to understand and practise how to steer and how the car behaves when reversing and use judgement than prescribed methods. This way it becomes second nature just like driving forwards and you can do any required manoeuvre not just those required for the test. What if you need to reverse back down a narrow road and into a passing place? Reference points aren't going to help much there. Though I get why they are used, if you stick with the same car they are the fastest way to be able to pass.
Laura’s parallel park lock to lock is so easy to remember I’ve got a lesson today definitely gona try this 😊
Going to try this lock to left and right than the other way like I’ve been taught in lessons
13:18 Laura's parallel parking technique was awesome. 1 lock - 45 degrees - 1 lock opposite is easy to remember
I’ve been trying to find a video on how to parallel park like the way she taught it
Apart from the fact she hit the kerb.
I tried the lock to lock method today and I finally did it can’t believe it after months of struggling Thankyou for these videos guys got my test on Sunday feel more confident after watching these
Laura’s bay park to treat it as a left or right turn is so easy to remember than lining it up

I didn’t know pulling up on the right was a manoeuvre? Now I do. I’ve done that a few times in my lessons.
Hey!! It's definitely the easiest one 😊 are you Samantha from bermondsey? How's lessons going??

I smashed the lock to lock on parrell park today after watching this video, this was one I was worrying about Thankyou so much 😊
🤣 love how you're doing outtakes at the end now!

*It's my turn for the Battle Royale! I enjoyed this video. You both did great! We all park different. Great job Francis and Laura!*
I watched this video and it really helped me pass my driving test.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching you both bicker

Laura was by far the best. wish she was my driving instructor
Laura's forward bay park was perfection!

And we love producing this content for you guys 😁
I was seeing more of you guys than the real manoeuvre.
Well done guys !!!! you make learning with you fun. You both did well👍👍👍
I love Laura’s parallel parking
When forward bay parking it is a banker to reverse out and end up with the car pointing in the same diction as it was pointing when you started.

Clear and good teaching techniques .
Would have preferred to see more of the manoeuvre from outside of the car.
@Driving School Instructor, good afternoon, I hope you are well, I would like to enquire how much you charge for a mock test?
Laura won the first two, Francis the third. Love the videos
For a driving lesson video the edits are great!

Can you do a test in burgess hill please to help others
Great video guys
Am struggling with parallel parking and my test is on Saturday 😢
Well done both ❤
You both good
Half turn to the left one two turns to the right 😅 until parralel with car in front and one turn to left
Interesting! Not heard this one! Whats the reference point to take your right turn?
@@francisnoakes I use the same steering and turn right once I can no longer see the road in the left mirror
Awesome vlog Sir ❤️
I love you guys
Great video. Can I ask why Laura only has a blind spot mirror on her passenger mirror? Thanks you
Good question! It really helps with manoeuvres so you can see the kerb or bay lines from the driving seat.
