Wow, that's a lot of chips. I hope you got a good offer for the split. About a month ago, I was given a project for a 50/50 split. Took about a week to complete and I got about 2.4 grams of gold and as a bonus, he sent me some silver contacts. I wish I could get more offers like that!

Hi Mike, This whole series should be awesome! I'll certainly be paying attention! I have over 70 pounds of mixed IC chips. 24 pounds are flat-packs. Will start processing them in A/P to remove the legs next week. Need to go to Home Depot to get 8 gallons of acid. Just got 4 new bubblers - party time!! Take Care, Jim

Hello. Please tell me where do you buy these ICs? Thank you

@@ashwynn4177 Hello, I don't buy them. I recycle electronics - get all the IC chips off the various boards. Been collecting them for over 10 years.

I know we've seen you do this process multiple times on your channel already, but I will always watch more of it! I really hope this has a successful result for everyone involved.
Was it easy to determine a "price" since this is your first time toll refining? I hope we get a full time/chemical cost vs earnings breakdown at the end.

Yay!! this is the one I have been waiting for ... for the last year i have been running boards though A/P.. Mostly old Bowling scoring boards with about 200 long skinny chips on each with legs down 2 sides. So now there is about 5 gallons of chips and other. (My) Next step is to rinse and sort. I figured easier to just melt off the legs and depopulate at the same time. any way ... as I am "going Walk about until Mid Aug I'm going to just remove the cleaned boards and add more before I leave ...
Looks like Kens chips are the "same" .... My ???? is what to do with the Tantalum capacitors betting on 5 pounds of them...

    Hi,
Been waiting for this, and looking forward to seeing the progress as you.
I do have a question, have you tried having water in the bottom of the vacuum cleaner so as to capture and keep down the dust.

After you incinerate the chips you can screen out the chips with steel legs with a magnet. I do this before I incinerate so I can process them separately. It's easier to remove the legs with a magnet so you can get a very clean ash. The copper legs in other chips have to be dissolved away with acid or sifted out. It's difficult to get out the copper legs even with sifting because a lot of the pins will fall right through the screen. Multiple trips through the screen will get most of them out.

I've had an idea for incinerating chips. A slow horizontal tumbling foundry, about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. Then roll some fine screen into a tube add some spacers to keep it from touching the sides. The chips would be placed in the screen, the burner turned on and it slowly tumbles. The white ash would continually fall off as the carbon burned. Eventually the only thing left in the screen would be? You guessed it, legs, dies and the die mount. The gold would pass right through with the ash.

What kind of screen? Would almost need to be a ceramic coated steel to keep from warping and melting

Put the chips in an iron pot and constant airflow over a fire and that works for me

NASA used metric and imperial to land on the moon. Simply said, computers were programmed in SI units and for display they used imprrial. So imperial was more of a cosmetic nature and the mvp was metric ✌️

That looks like about a 20 pound mill - which means it is designed for about 20 pounds of metal. You should be able to mill far more than you were in each load. You need to weigh the loads, not guess. The mill is at its most efficient with a full load - without overloading - which also maximizes unnecessary wear on the mill balls. I would guess that you could handle at least 15 pounds of material each load.

Is it necessary to remove the BGA's from the ram sticks? Seems like a lot of work. After removing the gold fingers, why not jut cut the RAM sticks into 3 pieces and throw the whole thing into the crucible?
