    I have a lynx and love the lightweight and simplicity of it BUT its fragile (i found out the hard way) and it wont last long throwing it off bridges as you mentioned. Its more fragile than anyone on the forums will admit too, i promise..
    Still love it though and for now wouldnt consider a different kayak and ive tried them all!!

    I've never looked into the cold dead eyes of a Musky myself. When I listen Kris talk about this subject, I'm always worried that she's standing beside a chalkboard. An actor who we like to claim as one of ours named Robert Shaw once took over a town hall meeting in that way.

      Faith N' Fish'N hmm, just thinking about that interview. I watched that Martin Scorcese film called 'The Color of Money' a long time ago. And thinking about it, that character of Vince in the film could have been constructed as a female role, in an adaptation of the same script. While the story as explained in Faith N' Fish'N is not quite the same. The character of Fast Eddie Felson in real life wouldn't actually be one hustler type of guy. But would in real life be more like an amalgamation of several dudes, that all at various times had some impact on the young impressionalble Vince character. And the sport of pool would obviously have to be replaced by green fish in lakes and rivers. It's remarkable when I think of that film now, and reflect upon it. How true that story is, or how it echoes in some ways with reality. The one thing I will say about the Fast Eddie character played by Paul Newman. Is that he could be any number of people, or a mix-n-match of several. Rolled into one for the purposes of telling a story. Eddie works in the movie 'The Color of Money' as this guy who sells whiskey on the road. He's a traveling sales person. Essentially though, as so many folks in 'fishing' have insisted in recent times (I'm thinking of someone such as Matt Stefan). Matt would insist on seeing himself and his involvement in the sport, as being like some opportunity to generate a story. Which in turn, creates a demand for a product or it's a way to showcase a brand or new idea. That tournament angling can't entirely stand on it's own, it has to be a means to achieve goals on the product and marketing side. As much as on the competition side. And that's what 'The Color of Money' was about in some way. This whiskey traveling salesperson, who travels and ends up in pool halls along the way. At certain times, combines forces with a young kid named Vince. And at other times, Fast Eddie goes his own way. And that's all very reflective of the fishing sport side of the story too.

      My favorite part of the entire film was, when Newman's character and that of Cruise end up in Chuckie's. Where it is Newman's intention to explain to the youngster how things are done. To no avail of course, and the kid ends up 'not' learning any of the lessons which the veteran pool player is trying to impart on him. There is the proprietor of the pool hall, who purchased the establishment from it's original owner named Chuckie. Who also tries to illuminate what is going on, for the benefit of the young Cruise character. And he says to Tom Cruise's character, do you know who you have stake-horsing for you? Who are you, the end of the world?

      Listening to Luke Dunkin and just about every other commentator on Elite pro tour bass fishing in 2023 talk about the upcoming 'Elite Class of '24' (the rookies who graduate from the Opens circuit level to the Elite tour level, in order to join with Feider man and all of those household names in the sport of fishing). I'm reminded of that, in how Dunkin describes the young up and coming rookie class. Who are you, the end of the world?

      I will say the following last thing on the subject. And I'm torn in some ways, when I think of Kris as the Musky angler from Nebraska. I'm drawn to that analogy of the shark hunter in the Spielberg film from a long, long time ago. And when I think of Kris who chases after 'green fish', I'm reminded more of the Vince. The Tom Cruise character in another film. The thing is though, in relation to youth and fishing. None of this is anything, that has not happened before. I grew up learning about a group of anglers, the most famous of whom was A.H.E. Wood who invented something called 'greased line' Atlantic salmon fly fishing. Back in the very earliest years of the twentieth century (they discovered ways to fish using flies for Atlantic salmon in Scottish rivers during the lean times of the season in summer, when temperatures were warming and water levels low). It was when the wealthy folk who could then afford salmon fishing rental of beats, those salmon rivers were all income-generators because the owners leased out the fishing rights to sports people. And in summer time the wealthy used to play golf and attend horse racing and other sports. They played cricket or polo, which involved socializing. The less wealthy anglers such as Wood were reduced to having access to rivers at off-peak times. And they developed a whole new thing in fishing called a 'floating line' by putting fat or grease on to braid. To make it float temporarily, for less than half the day. The American author John Gierach though was someone who wrote about his own experience. Where they 'took over' the river, and they imposed their identity and their influence on the sport of fishing. At a time when they were the younger crowd, who were not yet accepted in fly fishing. Gierach writes about this in novels such as 'Trout Bum'. While he also reflected that he himself is now the old guy in fishing. And he's being displaced himself he said, by this younger crowd. Which he doesn't quite understand. There have always been new arrivals in fishing. For as long as there as been fishing, there has always been a young generation coming up, which do not mix totally with the earlier one.

    When you were fishing the Susquehanna river, you could’ve hopped over to the Juniata river, which is one of the best musky rivers in Pennsylvania, and gave that a shot. Thanks for the great TH-cam channel.

    My lynx is where it is at. Hopefully they can keep cutting weights down on kayaks. Lightweight is where it is at just opens up so many options and you'll find yourself using your gear way more.

    Probably wouldn't be my first choice of kayak for rivers given how fragile they are , seems I have heard that term more often than not from people that have the Lynx so there must be something to it.

    Nice light and portable rig! Thanks a lot for the very instructive content in your channel! I’m a pike angler in France and I fish from a kayak. Just found your “KAYAK MUSKY” playlist and it's really helpful for me. I noticed you ressort a lot on the Tranx 401. What's your feeling About the 301? From what I understood the two models only differ by the spool width. As I have small hands, I’m leaning toward the 301 for palming when using medium sized tubes and bulldawgs (I also use a Calcutta 401d for big spinnerbaits, awesome for crancking but I hate it for jigging or any action that requires to put the rod in high position). I am more worried about casting distance as the spool diameter will reduce more rapidly with distance with the 301 than the 401. Is there an effect on the crancking power too, as here we often encounter huge well catfishes too, some of which are much bigger than muskies? Can you provide me with your two cents about that?

    Lynx was awesome for me, but durbale it was not. first summer i had to repair it 6 times for cracks in the bottom of the hull. i hated to get rid of it. checked all the boxes but not the same quality as the rest of the hobie kayaks.

    • @SkippinSkippy28
      @SkippinSkippy28 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I fished lakes and creeks. I guess the hull can't take any stress against rocks. I was really impressed with it until I had to epoxy the bottom. Stay away from hard things and you will be ok. I can't wait for them to make a rotomold one.

    Are you still using the Lynx.? They are $3300 in my area, just seems like a lot to pay for something that people have to put gorilla tape and other materials on to protect areas of it. I really like the idea of having a lightweight kayak, but from what I've seen they have to be treated with gentle care to keep from damaging the hull. What are your thoughts?

    What's the down side in using the Lynx for recreational bass fishing on a lake like Guntersville?

    • @kristinefischer2289
      @kristinefischer2289  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly there really isn’t a down side, maybe that you can’t “load it down” as much as a PA, but If youre fishing shallow I see it as a great yak for g ville
