Great vid again thx MTHG.. Also Gate the open hi hat to be choked by the closed hi hat. Play around with the attack, hold & release dials for cool rhythms.
Thank you! I was wondering how to do the opposite in DMD: ungroup hi-hats to be able to layer them together. I knew I'd seen it in one of your videos, happy I found it again (good searchable title). Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Do you have a method for replicating a “drum rack” like Ableton has? I’m always jealous of my Ableton buddy because it looks like a very useful feature to me.
The choke is built into virtually every single kit in Logic. DMD, DKD, even the old Ultrabeat. Producer kits and regular kits. This is about loading in your own samples and setting that up.
This dude is brilliant.. Wow man... This is amazing.. I do have a question.. You did a video on recording through an aux track to record with compression.. I've tried and tried that and it never worked.. I did notice you didn't have other instruments going like Alchemy or Kontakt and drums and poop.. But you wouldn't be able to do that right, unless you bounce the track to 2 track and record the vocals then bring the stems back in.. I never tried that but I want to record with a little compression and it just seems like I either have to get a DSP interface, like UA or an external compressor then run it into my Focusrite.. Have any ideas? Or did I just answer my own question.. lol..
How do you mean? I use SSD5 with Logic all the time. In fact, I have it set up so Drummer controls it. This way you get the flexibility of Drummer with the sounds of SSD5.
In programs like Studio one and Cubase, it’s easy to extract chords out of an audio. Studio One chord track follow option seems to be very helpful in composing music. As an ardent lover of Logic Pro from many other perspectives, how can I achieve this in Logic.
Do you have any experience with doing this on Superior Drummer 3? I can’t seem to find a good, comprehensive video on the subject. Even Toontrack’s resources aren’t great. I still can’t get a good foot lift/close on the hats.
great! in sampler, how do you asign a notes off to one note, I mean to shut up a long one shot sample by mistake or something. is there some kind of toggle behavior to the one shot sample zone?
If you have any questions you'd like answered in a video, please leave them below! I'll do my best to get to them!
Does anyone know how you choke cymbals in Logic? Cool vid bro.

Thank you for this. So simple and yet pretty much impossible to find in the documentation
Thank you!

Excellent tutorial once again. JPMusic
Dude, I love you. Truly. So much.

You can also do this with the Producer+ Kits. The choke is already built in to the hats. There's 30 of them and each has a lot of granularity.

Droppin bangers.

Awesome! Thanks bro!
Anything you can add to making SSD5 work with Logic Pro would be massively appreciated! This could be a full series. 🙏

Very helpful
Can you do a programming realistic sounding drums without using Drummer video? Thanks for all you do!
