People back then were not used to having freedom of choice. Our parents were allowed only to do what their parents approved of. So they treat us the same way. But today's generation is evolving. They want to make their own choices and that cannot be accepted by some parents because they were not given such freedom when they were brought up. They expect their childern to marry who they approve of. Some parents shun love marriage while some don't.
