    I have some snake plants (2 sansevieria superba and a hahnii), I had them in my east facing window and continued to water them around every 3 weeks (as I did during winter). They actually shriveled up in the longer hours of sun that we get around Stockholm, Sweden this time of year! I moved them to the west windows, where there's considerably less full-sun hours and they're much happier now. Not really sure what I can keep in the sunny east window now though.. I have some small aloes there lol

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah lots of houseplants do not like long hours of direct sun. The only one's I can think of that would love that would be some succulents or cacti. Or you could get a sort of sheer curtain and make it indirect bright light all the time which would be ideal for lots of different houseplants! Best of luck in your search!

    Thanks for the video, I have a quick question : in a medium size pot, I seem to have two roots. Should I separate them or do they like to be together ? İt seems crowded, I realised that the 2nd one s leaves are wider, like towards the floor. İf I have to separate them, what kind of soil should I use? Universal one is good enough? Thank you so much !

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think most snake plants will come with more than one plant in the pot and that is totally fine. You don't need to separate them unless you prefer the look of them separated. I wouldn't worry too much about overcrowding though, it should be fine as it is until roots start peaking out of the bottom of the container. If you do decide to repot, I would suggest a cactus mix, as it is well draining which these guys need! Best of luck!

      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcome! Glad you're enjoying! Yeah a SW window should be okay depending where you live. In the UK it would probs be fine as we don't get loads and loads of hot sun, but warmer/sunnier places may be too much. Just keep an eye on it and look out for sunburn

    Hey! Great video! I just bought a small/medium-sized Snake plant and it’s in a
    planter without drainage holes. Is it possible to maintain the health of the snake and not rot out the roots in a pot like that?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! It depends on the material of the planter. If it's terra cotta, it might be alright as those wick water away from the plant a bit. But you'll still have to water sparingly. If it's a different material, it may be fine if you are very careful not to give it too much water at a time and pay close attention for signs of overwatering! If you're really worried though, you can always repot into a nursery pot and stick that back in the decorative pot to achieve the same look! Good luck!

    • @GoodGrowing

      I think that is fairly typical because it is quite well draining. I don't think you have to repot it, but if you do, go for a cactus mix or something else with lots of drainage! Best of luck

      I've never had spider mites on my snake plants. It sounds like it came with them already and that is a shame!! I try to look super closely at every plant before I buy it to make sure that there aren't any pests or funguses or anything!

    I have my new snake plant inside a cover pot as well and it’s still planted in its nursery pot. How do you know when it’s done draining all the way through and can be put back in the decorative pot?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the soil is sufficiently damp throughout. You could also water with the decorative pot on and then tip out the extra water 30 mins later

    • @GoodGrowing

      That should be fine as long as it's not super hot sun. It also may be a good idea to slowly increase the amount of sun so it can adapt rather than just burning

    • @GoodGrowing

    Then just water once it reads like 2 on moisture meter?

      Yay exciting! Yeah that's one of the issues with big box stores, they don't take the time to water each plant what it needs. If I were you I'd let it dry out completely before watering again. Like I said in the video, I RARELY water mine and they seem to be cool with it! Good luck!

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm I'm not too sure about this. In theory, yes, giving the plant more room to grow will help it grow bigger. But you don't want to repot before your plant is ready to be upsized. So maybe wait until it gets a bit root bound? Sorry that may not be super helpful! Best of luck!

    Hey 👋 Good Growing thank you 🙏🏿 for your video. How to fix an overwatering mistake? I purchased my 1st plant. I got my big snake plant baby a couple of weeks ago (07/26) I watered it a little bit the day I got it. Then I watered it the end of the week (I was told to water 1 to 2xs a week 🤦‍♀️). On one of the leaves I see a wet/soggy spot. Do I need to cut the whole leaf from the rest? Repot? How do I fix the overwater hiccup?? Please help😩😫

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Overwatering is tough because you can't always fix it. You could try to repot it in some drier soil and in that process check the roots for rot. Cut off any black, mushy ones. If that doesn't help the wet/soggy spot, then you can cut the whole leaf off with some sterile scissors and hopefully that'll stop it spreading. Best of luck!

    Hello, I’ve question hope you can help me. My snake plant 🌱 is becoming very yellow from the top of the leaf. And very soft and dropping from the bottom.
    I changed the pot but I don’t know what to do with the leafs because I can’t separate them.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting! I'm sorry you're experiencing difficulties I'm not totally sure what's wrong as I am not an expert, but my experience tells me that it may be some sort of root/stem rot. The yellowing and softness at the base of the stems usually means theres too much water and moisture there. Maybe try watering less, like once a month or even less. If that doesn't help check out the roots and trim off any rotting ones. Best of luck!

    Question????? What do you think about adding a couple different kind of snake plants all together in one big pot? Because I’m moving and I need to down size some of my plants, and I’ve given lots of plants away but some I’m just keeping and adding together??

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm I don't think it would be an issue because they all require pretty similar care. I would say, keep similar sizes together though, because a small one may end up drying out too fast while larger ones are still wet if the roots are different sizes! Best of luck with the move!
