    I love how plant people acknowledge their plants as living beings like a dog or a cat “he doesn’t like it” “he might be in shock, I hope he’ll be ok” “if he doesn’t like it he’ll let you know”

      I live in Oklahoma. Every spider plant I bought and kept inside died….although I’m sure I over watered them. Then a friend gave me a pot of babies, or more like teenagers, that she had outside. She always puts them out from spring-fall. So….I put it outside last summer and it did fine. This summer I put it out and it’s been 100 degrees F and over several times. This plant has gone crazy. Babies and lush green. And the babies I took off from last year are getting big and happy as can be. They are on an east facing porch and get sun in the morning but not much cuz there’s a big oak tree on the lawn. They are mostly covered from rain but if the rain is gentle, I put them in it. They don’t do well in the winter inside. But come spring, I prune and set them outside until fall and they are happy campers. I do set them in water when the temperature is over 100*s. This is the first spider plant I’ve ever had that looked so beautiful and lived more then 9 months. Lol. In fact. I was never going to buy another one but I took the gift and I’m so happy I did. I love these plants now.

    I have used my Spider Plant for Christmas/birthday gifts before... I take a small mason jar, put in a spider plant pup (with roots) with enough distilled water to cover the roots, and you have a brand new plant that will grow for 4-6 weeks or so sealed in the jar before it NEEDS to be replanted in soil... and then you have a cool new spider plant that will be making it's own babies and cleaning the air in your home before too long. Granted, your recipient needs to appreciate the "little things" and not be expecting a brand new iPhone or something, haha ;)

    Beauregard Parish Louisiana I planted some outside (green, and green striped) in the ground they did surprisingly well while some leaves died during the winter the plants would come back very strong during the summer. I wish people would stop labelling spider plants as "easy to care for" because they are not. I've had many and have not managed to keep them. Only today I've put my last half dead two out in my UK garden to fend for themselves, I genuinely don't care if they live or die, I've tried everything. Currently looking online for an imitation plastic one for the house, surely I'll be able to keep this one alive.

    • @twinfin8571
      @twinfin8571 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hahaha! I had the same problem and said the same thing. I killed 5 spider plants in 6 years and swore off them….wasn’t ever going to buy another. Then a friend gave me a pot with about four somewhat older babies in it. I didn’t even want them. When I told her they die, she said put it in a room and forget about it. Don’t fuss over it and don’t water it. So. I got a water meter and only watered it when it was completely dry. She also said to put it outside for spring, summer, and fall. Well. I did that last year and this year and it is doing fabulous. Babies and lush leaves. And it’s been over 100 degrees for several days with lows in the 80’s. It gets a small amount of sun in the morning….east facing. I prune off leaves that don’t look good….broken in the wind or whatever. It’s doing great. I’ve cut off and potted 6 babies and they are doing fabulous. Soon I’ll be giving people plants! Lol. Maybe this plant is doing so well cuz it’s local, home grown etc. It’s mother tuffs it out every year in crazy Oklahoma winds and heat so the babies I got were used to that. But! Don’t fuss over them and don’t water till they’re dry……..unless it’s 100 degrees and they’re outside. Then I keep them a bit moist. I can’t tell you how happy I am with this plant…..the longest living spider I’ve ever had….two summers and one winter so far. I love it…….and I’m getting more with the babies. It is so beautiful. Keep trying. It is rewarding when it works. Good luck.

      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oooh so exciting! Yeah the house jungle vibes are the best ones imo. Sorry the succulents aren't doing well. Did you get them from a grocery store? They tend to not give their plants the right care and often overwater (especially with succulents!) If you can change the soil of others to a dryer mix you may be able to save them before root rot! Best of luck!

    It might technically be “non toxic” to cats but it is similar to catnip in that they are OBSESSED with it and makes them slightly hallucinate. If your cat munches on it they may be whacked out, vomit, or have diarrhea so try to keep it away from them

    We have a very big spider plant that we recently just brought inside for the fall winter season. We put it in a large pot because it is a pretty large spider plant. Where are you headed outside hanging it was really healthy. The leaves are turning a yellow color and browning on the tip and some of the the leaves appear dead as they’re brown. I would like to know what we did wrong or how we can maybe bring it back to life

    I have two spider plants. One is doing great but the second one have 4 leaves left and she had like 15 lol. Bad soil, one that keeps wet for a long time, repoted it, then watered less but she came to 4 leaves left. I hope she makes it. The first one's soil is better, dries off quicker

    My plant has no drainage because it was like a hanging one but I haven’t had time to actually hang it up so I just put it on the window sill and the root rot thing sounds about right the bottom bit is turning brown 🤷🏻‍♀️not sure what to do

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hmm that doesn't sound good! The way I around that with my hanging plants is use the nursery pot within the decorative hanging pot. So when I water, the nursery pot drains into the hanging one and I can dump that out if I need to. Best of luck!

    I kill all my plants. I love how nice they look in the house and all the air purifying benefits. So Im trying to learn to take care one at a time until I get the hang of it. What kind of fertilizer do they like?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah houseplants are seriously amazing! And everyone can grow them with a little practice! I'm not super versed on fertiliser, but plan on doing a lot of research and a video about it in the spring. Currently I use the powdered Miracle-Grow at 1/2 strength! Best of luck!!

    Could you tell us what type of soil, fertilizer and watering techniques work best? For example, could you use one of those bulb things that waters the roots or should you just pour water on top of the soil?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally just water the top of the soil. The soil is basic potting medium with a bit of extra perlite. As for fertiliser I talk about that in the video but I used to use Miracle Grow all purpose but now use Liquid Gold Leaf
