I am convinced that Eivor vs. Odin in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a direct reference to Prince vs. Dark Prince. There are way too many parallels. Almost 100% identical in everything. It even ends in the same way.

There's definitely a bit of that same vibe, yeah. I love stories with a malevolent voice in the main character's mind, always an amazing source of tension, and in some situations you can have dialogue without other characters being present, which is a useful storytelling tool.

Warrior Within is not looking good for this kind of run because of how "messy" the game's design is -- it doesn't let the player approach it with clean precision the way Sands and Two Thrones do, to the point that when I was looking for WW Hard No Damage runs on TH-cam, I didn't find a single one -- only No Deaths. This leads me to believe that it's not possible otherwise someone would've already done it, I mean the game has been out for eighteen years.
I'll scout Forgotten Sands and PoP08, though, in case it's doable there.

Two tips for you if you'd like to revisit this game some day:-
    1. If you want to get sands from every enemy barring the wolves after getting Sharaman's sword, hit them with combos beginning with the dagger. Combos ensure you sands.
    2. For the wall rebound glitch in the Middle Tower before the game comes to an end, you needn't change the frame rate of your game. When wall running towards the rebound, release the wall run button (I guess it's right mouse click in default controls) while keeping the directional button pressed as soon as you reach the leafy patch on the wall & rebound as usual. The key here is releasing the wall run button before his feet cross the leafy patch. That's it. It's just a neat little trick. I saw in a lone TH-cam video. I would've linked you the video but somehow TH-cam doesn't post links in comments so I wrote it down.
    Your vids are enjoyable! Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, the Sands one from combos is huge. I actually did try that trick for the shutter several times but for whatever reason I found it really unreliable, and in the end syncing my frames down helped me and other players get it in a single try so I went with that instead. ^_^

3:00:52 that one jump gave me a lot of trouble on my latest playthrough of this game. I was so frustrated with this jump that at some point I had to look it up on the internet, and to my surprise, I wasn't the only one struggling. I found a video showing the proper spacing for the jump, and it's super awkward, you have to end your wallrun early-ish and jump pretty early but not too early and you still barely make it. Fortunately I actually managed to do it, after a dozen more attempts T-T

    • @LeoKRogue

I got it a few times, but this kind of move with that small %chance to get it reliably just isn't something you want to be playing with on a No Damage No Rewind run, even _with_ checkpoints, so I just decided to say fuck it and drop the FPS.

That was an enjoyable watch! Learnt a few new skips. My favourite in the entire trilogy. For me, every successive installment was better than the previous one, although in the grand scheme of things, I would say that Sands of Time is more valuable to the history of gaming. Sands of Trilogy is probably the only franchise where I love all the games. Two Thrones could've been Kindred Blades, & there are some bugs in the game, but by the end, I'm happy with the finished product. It's amazing what they did in a year's time of development. Most people don't think this way, but I think this trilogy has one of the best stories in the world of video games. A captivating start & a satisfying end! Two Thrones & Warrior Within for me has lots of replay value! Truly gems worthy of cherishing for me ...

I love The Sands Trilogy's story. I think it's quite beautiful and poetic in so many ways, I love how it all comes full-circle and ends the same way it begins. Perfect for this kind of series. The Prince and Farah are one of my all-time favorite gaming couples, as well.

      Your thoughts on plot holes?
Is the reason why the Timeline had changed because of killing Kaileena in the Past? 7 years after killing The Vizier would have us finish the game killing Dahaka in the present and returning to Babylon with Kai. Or simply having her alive in the Prince’s time “erases” everything sand- related?

Sooooo happy you did this Leo. This is my favorite of the trilogy. Mainly coz of the amount of time I spent on it. This is the only one I owned for my PSP which was my first, proper video game related thing ever. The PSP port wasn't the best when it came to details like the Prince's tattoes. But I can enjoy those here. Are you gonna do Warrior Within? Feels weird to skip that one. Also a little strange to skip combat as the Dark Prince, but you do you maestro. Loved this.

I tried to do Warrior Within but it seems like it's not possible, unfortunately. I even looked for Hard Mode No Damage runs on TH-cam and on other websites, and not a single one actually exists that I've discovered, there's only No Death which would just feel weird. Warrior Within is a messy, sloppily-designed game that doesn't let you play "clean" and that really bothers me because aesthetically and structurally I _really_ love it. :(

Thank you! I don't have a video like this done for Warrior Within. Sadly, I did try, but the game doesn't allow itself to be played so "cleanly" and perfectly, while Sands of Time and Two Thrones do.
I think that's why there's no proper No Damage run of WW on TH-cam even from other channels -- at least, last time I checked, which was a few months ago. There are _Boss_ Runs but no full-game hitless that I've managed to find.
Typically I don't look for them from others because I like to come up with my own strategies, but in the case of Warrior Within after I gave up on it, I decided to check and see how other people did it, aaand... they didn't.

The Prince altered Time in Warrior Within so the events of The Sands of Time never happened. So in this timeline, the Vizier obsessively searched for the Dagger, Sands and Hourglass for decades until his search led him to the Island of Time, and then to Babylon, where the story of Sands of Time basically "happens again." And that's this game, but this time things are different and the Prince is older, and wiser.

It's always been possible, just insufferable to actually do because of the way you'd have to approach certain areas. I'll watch that video! Kind of happy I don't have to do one lol
One interesting thing to note is that he's done it on the PS3 version, which like all console versions of the older PoP games is locked at a maximum of 30fps. My Sands of Time and Two Thrones runs are both at 60, and even they have some weird moments because of bugs that start surfacing at that framerate.
When I tried to do WW No Damage, I wanted to do it at 60fps on PC to stay consistent with my other two videos, but I found a lot of the instability that arose because of that too annoying to put up with.

I have playthroughs of Sands of Time and Two Thrones (this one we're commenting on right now) you can watch, but there's a reason Warrior Within No Damage doesn't exist on my channel, and it's because I don't think it's actually possible. I haven't found other channels that have done it on Hard, so it seems no one else can do it either. (If there is one, I would love to watch it.)

I've never played any Prince of Persia games other than Warrior Within, but this one actually looks really good.
I'd love to see a more modernized version of that stealth kill mechanic with procedural and randomized animations to change up the timing.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You should try it out!
I'm not on board with the idea of legitimately randomizing timings for a stealth QTE, though. It's one of those things that sounds fantastic at first but the longer you think about it the more infuriating it would become, especially if this is a game we expect players to enjoy on more than a single playthrough.
Honestly, it should have never been a QTE to begin with in this game, and if we make it _more_ annoying I think this is something that would get old very quickly. When a game is delivering a particular fantasy, you don't want the player 'fighting' with the controls, you want the game to be on their side so they can understand, plan, and execute.
There's a reason QTEs on takedown is the exception in stealth games, and not the rule. That reason is that they're typically not necessary nor something that improves the game by their presence. If the player understands vision cones and patrols well enough to get behind their enemy, they deserve the takedown because they've already passed the relevant skill-check. It's understandable in rare situations like if the game is going super stat-heavy and the QTE is there to secure a kill made from a place of gear-disadvantage, as is the case in AC Valhalla.

    • @LeoKRogue

Good game, but sadly very "sloppy" level design and boss fights. A game that basically refuses to let the player master it, which is a shame because the atmosphere and movement are really cool.

If you find any similar video for Warrior Within anywhere, from anyone, on Hard Mode, No Damage, then I'll consider it. But this game is very "messy" and doesn't allow you to play it damageless in the same ways that SoT and TT do. Makes me sad. :(

At the end of Warrior Within, the Prince basically sees a future vision of his dark self, as he's always had glimpses and warnings of his future.
The Dark Prince was always a small part of the Prince's mind, as he himself tells him, partially-manifested by the existence of the Sands of Time and the Prince's closeness to them over the course of the series. Basically how normal people change into sand-zombies through Sands infection, the same thing was happening to him very, very slowly, corrupting him bit by bit.
The wound in his arm at the beginning of Two Thrones game started to speed up the process.
When the Sands were all collected back into the Dagger after the Prince killed the Vizier, the Dark Prince made his best try to fully take over the Prince's body and rule Persia, but Farah's love and light let him walk away from his rage and hatred, and Kaileena then took the Dagger, the Sands, and everything associated with them, out of this reality.

Will you do a Warrior Within version of this?

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I'm not sure yet. If it seems possible at some point, I might, but from my preliminary research into the game, it's not looking likely :/ There are a dozen tiny little parts of Warrior Within that refuse to let the player play "cleanly" the way you can in SoT and TTT, so I'm not sure how someone would go about dealing with that.
If there are other WW No Damage on TH-cam, I'll look at them too, and maybe even relax my rules a little.
EDIT: No Damage runs of WW on Hard don't even _exist._ The closest is "No Death" which I might do. 😭😭
