Sometimes it's not how many hits you get on a ship, but where you hit it that does the business. That torpedo hit looked as if it penetrated the hull near the rear ammunition magazines judging by all those secondary explosions. That's going to rip any ship apart. Good shot, Herr Kaleun!
@@TaffinExile You did the same thing with the Rodney a few years ago. Single shot, port bow hit. Down she went. Unfortunately, you sank in the Mediterranean, otherwise you w ould be the greatest UBoat commander ever and would deserve 2 Knight's Crosses.

Once in SH3 I could get inside an escort ring (I was almost still and quet while they came ahead) and I torped the carrier in middle. Because of the reality sinking setup the carrier was sinking around a day long. As my torps hit her the escort ships started to find me so I manouvered my uboot under the slowly sinking carrier paralell with her body and close to her up. In this way the destroyers couldn't go through above me and drop bombs. Some time later they gave up and went away...
What do you think that torpedo hit to do such catastrophic damage to Washington? Fuel tank? Ammo store? There were a LOT of secondary detonations. If Ching Lee is lucky, he can get North Carolina as his flagship for later on, but.... wow. Farewell BB-56.
It hit the rear main gun's magazine I'd wager, and then a fuel line probably detonated down the ship, spreading fires and causing overpressure in the lower compartments. By the time the crew realized the damage in the low decks it was probably too late, and the other magazines detonated. Very lucky shot. You could do that 100 times and I'd bet over 90 of them the ship would be able to sail away.
most people would consider games like silent hunter a genuine waste of time cause you just sail around most of the time , but i disagree , there is a certain beauty to the open ocean and just looking at the sky or w/e which is enjoyable in its own way

North Carolina BBs were built in late 1937 and commissioned in April of 1941.Don't know why this game has them here, due that they were primarily in the pacific theater.
Talk about German efficiency! 5 torps for 1 BB! Sad that this amazing episode was cut short but it was exactly what I wanted. You should get a knights cross for this! Also how did you get those u boat resupplies like you did in monsun gruppe? I hope you kill al their high value assets so that their merchants will fear faring the seas in the north!
As per a video I did a month or so ago, experimenting with the TH-cam Algorithm as its dropped my channel form suggested videos, so trying a few different things to see if it makes any difference. The YT experts (?) suggest shorter videos (YT following the tictok treads) with more action to keep people engaged. Apparently everyone's attention span is shortening. :-)
@@TaffinExile it’s not that everybody attention span is getting shorter it’s because their is not enough action to begin with. But never the less Taff I am a long time fan still think 💭 your video’s are entertaining enough for me. Any chance of doing a series of silent hunter 3 perhaps.
I've been thinking about getting a pc for simulator gaming. Mainly just something for this, cold waters, B17 the mighty 8th, rise of flight, and IL2. Anyone have any dummy proof ideas?
Any mid-to high range pc will run those games no problem, but I would say a 4gb graphics card and at least 16gb of memory for any simulators with higher system demands you might buy.
So here are Il2's minimum specs Minimum system requirements OS: 64-bit Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 10 CPU: Intel® Core™ i5/i7 2.8 ГГц GPU: GeForce GTX 660/Radeon HD 7770 with 2GB VRAM or better DirectX: Version 11 RAM: 4 Gb+ Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible Storage space: 23 Gb+ Internet connection: 256Kb/s for single-player career, 1Mb/s and faster for multi-player DirectX® compatible flight stick is recommended Honestly set your budget and get the best you can for it! CPU, Graphic Card and RAM are the big three to focus on but dont forget the SSD to HDD speeds for IL2 and any future sims you might want, the older games its wont make much of a difference,
Great video but your photo for the video is giving away too much of the suspense. Also, this was too short, you should have dragged out the sinking and how the destroyers couldn’t find you. This video should have been 1 hour as we waited to see if the BB would sink.
He could have drawn it out a bit more, but it was mostly pointless after that big explosion. Also, 1Hr is crazy & YT hates long videos so it would hurt the channel some. I like longer vids, but no sense in sabotaging himself to elongate the inevitable IMO
Noted! I'm doing some experiments with the TH-cam algorithm to see what its looking for, the current consensus is for shorter video with less non action bits, doesnt always suit the uboat genre and Thumbnails, thumbnails, thumbnails! they say for drama! Well i can see your point of view too, maybe some middle ground is needed

that was a big magazine detonation on that Battleship
Yeah unfortunate for them
An excellent episode!
