Still, I turned on the system with expectations of doing another few hours with this game...only to be greeted with this full screen page of text that was all so well written and being extremely apologetic about having fumbled the correct storage of the game save. I've no idea if anyone has ever given this rare pop-up message any love. But, someone in programming had some real fun in writing up this olde world error message. Having long known about the potential dangers of unstable game saves, I had backed up the game to a second slot and recovered from that one. Still, the very fact that this micro novel of an apology even existed is highly amusing. I think it was one of the later games. Maybe 4. More likely 3. May it be near impossible to corrupt a game file of Earthbound for the S-NES Retro by mere shock, alone. (Though, it's far from infallible to lose the game saves by doing the wrong things on the start screen.)
Don't let this double upload distract you from the fact that this is the last year where chugga is able to fulfill his promise on beating the okami demon gates.

I never reached Happy Happy Village, and frankly, I was not enjoying the actual battle and item management systems enough to want to keep playing the game. Even though the story and NPCs were quirky and interesting, it wasn't enough for me to endure. This LP will be my means of seeing what comes next, thanks Chuggaa for revisiting this game for us.
