Dude, he uses a semi-serious tone with his japes all the time. Part of the timing that I thought made it a comedic bit was his corruption allowing him to go out of bounds, allowing for the reference to be used. He references pop culture and TH-camrs of all sorts, so I thought he just said it on a whim. I thought it was a great joke.
Why would he joke about it? They collaborated before on a Smash boundary break

Again, Vinny makes jokes and japes like that all the time on stream, and can be very deadpan to boot. It's fair.
I’m both surprised and unsurprised that the fan translation has even translated inaccessible dialogue.
I feel like it's because they translated all the dialogue out-of-game, so they wouldn't know what was unused or not.
Yeah what Trix said, Im pretty sure that all of the translating was done with an editor outside of the game and considering how many one shot npcs there are and the nature of dialogue in this game its likely that they didnt even realize they were translating stuff behind the scenes
I mean, they re added removed stuff as well, it's literally better than the official version
It really is the best passion project I've ever seen in gaming, they did an incredible job.
They even offered the entire translation and all the tools they made to Nintendo, free of charge, to try and help get the game released.
@@ohnoitschris only problem with getting the game released stateside is the games content. There are some sensitive themes in the game that can offend our current politically correct society.

they probably just extracted all the text in the game and then translated all of it
@@dreadfulroses That's not really how it works, you still have to plug it back into the program and format it correctly, a process the translator was involved in. Not to mention the fact that Tomato routinely went into the game to check everything as to make sure it worked in a normal playthrough.
6:57 This is actually a lot more interesting because that was a callback to Earthbound (Mother 2).
In Earthbound, there was a mouse who knew the department store in Fourside would blackout because of his sixth sense. Apparently, this was gonna be the same scenario here.
Even breaking the games boundaries couldn’t bring Claus back.

This was a pretty enjoyable episode; a lot of this stuff I was already aware of thanks to it being cataloged on the Cutting Room Floor, but there was also plenty of new findings I didn't know about that I was glad to learn about. Plus, it was pretty neat hearing you and Vin commentate on the various hidden assets in the game; Vin's comment on the mole cricket in particular felt like something straight out of one of his livestreams. Overall, I'd say that it was a very worthwhile watch!

Reggie may have never given us Mother 3, but I hope the best for him, and thanks for making this, I played through all 3 Mother games earlier this year, and they quickly became some of my favorite games of all time, with Mother 3 being one of my favorite stories ever, it's also one of the few games with an ending that made me feel so conflicted on wether I should luagh or cry that I ended up doing both (;

It does exist. It is a fan translation of a game. Just because it's unofficial doesn't mean it's not real, and this is as real as it's ever gonna get.
