Deportation to the Krakow ghetto

  • This video shows archival film from the Krakow ghetto. In May 1940, the Nazi occupation authority announced that Jews were to be deported from Kraków. Of the more than 68,000 Jews in Kraków when the Germans invaded, only 15,000 workers and their families were permitted to remain. All other Jews were ordered out of the city, to be resettled into surrounding rural areas. However this policy changed with the creation of the Kraków Ghetto on 3 March 1941 in the Podgórze district, not in the Jewish district of Kazimierz.
    Displaced Polish families from Podgórze took up residences in the former Jewish dwellings outside the newly established Ghetto. Meanwhile, 15,000 Jews were crammed into an area previously inhabited by 3,000 people who used to live in a district consisting of 30 streets, 320 residential buildings, and 3,167 rooms. As a result, one apartment was allocated to every four Jewish families, and many less fortunate lived on the street.
    The Ghetto was surrounded by walls that kept it separated from the rest of the city. All windows and doors that gave onto the "Aryan" side were ordered bricked up. Only four guarded entrances allowed traffic to pass through. In a grim foreshadowing of the near future, these walls contained panels in the shape of tombstones. Small sections of the wall still remain today.
    Young peole of the Akiva youth movement, who had undertaken the publication of an underground newsletter, HeHaluc HaLohem ("The Fighting Pioneer"), joined forces with other Zionists to form a local branch of the Jewish Fighting Organization (ŻOB, Polish: Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa), and organize resistance in the ghetto, supported by the Polish underground Armia Krajowa. The group carried out a variety of resistance activities including the bombing of the Cyganeria cafe, a gathering place of Nazi officers. Unlike in Warsaw, their efforts did not lead to a general uprising before the ghetto was liquidated.
    From 30 May 1942 the Nazis deported people to the death camp at Belzec. On 13 - 14 March 1943 the final 'liquidation' of the ghetto was carried out under the command of SS-Untersturmführer Amon Göth. Eight thousand Jews deemed able to work were transported to the Plaszow labor camp. Others were either murdered in the ghetto or transported to Auschwitz where they were killed.

    The Krakow ghetto was possibly the only major Nazi ghetto where mass epidemics of diseases such as Typhus were avoided. This was down to the tireless work of many doctors and physicians who were in the ghetto. The only gentile allowed to remain in the Jewish Ghetto, was Tadeusz Pankiewicz, who was allowed to continue to run his pharmacy on the corner of the ghetto square, plac zgody. He supplied medicines, largely for free, and even gave shelter to people during roundups or 'actions' by the SS. He bore witness to amazing acts of barbarity through his pharmacy windows. He wrote a memoir called 'The Krakow Ghetto Pharmacy' that I can wholeheartedly recommend. In it, he describes seeing the notorious SS man Amon Goeth passing his windows, on a mission to kill. The pharmacy is a museum today. Worth a visit.

    Why not try studying what causes typhus. How come there were no typhus epidemics before the war?
    The Allies did not force people into ghettos, sometimes twenty people in one room and then starve them. The Nazis did that. All countries were suffering from lack of resources but they did not have typhus epidemics. That happened in the ghettos - which were deliberately put up by the Nazis.
    The worst starvation happened closer to the beginning of the war than the end as I already wrote.

    1. As I have already pointed out, this is 1940 - 41 closer to the beginning than the end of the war. The war ended in 1945 and started in 1939. The food supply to Germany was not cut off - what nonsense. The Nazis obviously could not trade with Allied countries but could take food from the huge area under occupation and some neutral countries too.
    2. Listen to what it says in the original language.
    3. Typhus was deliberately caused by cramming so many people into tiny spaces.

    • @javierruizvega
      @javierruizvega 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deniers should do 2 simple things: 1. Read books about demography just before WW2. They will know that in Poland for instance there were around 3 millions Jewish people (10% of the population) 2. They have to visit Poland and realize that Jews there simply disappeared. If they have a little bit of IQ they should wonder what happened with all them? where are the Jews of Poland? 3 millions cannot disappear all of a sudden. There were certainly many Jews that survived by hiding and received help from locals and also by going to the eastern Russia and most of the survivals went to Israel after the war. There are also photos proven as authentic about the pogrom by bullets in Latvia and Ukraine, just search on internet.

  • @VanlifewithAlan
    @VanlifewithAlan  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That is a totally stupid argument which clearly demonstrates how little you know. Try looking at how many people died of starvation in the Warsaw ghetto for example in 1941 - which was closer to the beginning of the war than the end. Both starvation and typhus were deliberate - the result of locking people up in ghettos and not providing food although there was no starvation. Stop watching denier liar films and try confronting the truth - if you dare.

    "the experiences of thousands speaks for itself"
    No, because everyone has an interest in telling the same story, either because they are afraid or because of revenge.
    "why would you think they would not stick to the plan to do so"
    Because the ideology doesn't really say 'wipe em out', but rather 'move them somewhere else'. Anyway, intentions are not the same as actions.

    @alanheath It was not the Jews who executed Jesus, it was the Romans who were occupying that territory at the time, but Pontius Pilate, who believed in democracy, asked the people what they wanted to do to Jesus, and Kaifas, the head Jew, said HE wanted him dead, and so the whole Jewish community in the area followed him blindly. So, to be factually accurate, it was the Jews who killed Jesus, and the Romans were the ones who executed him, due to democratic popular vote.

      Christopher the answer is this that people were so bowed down with all that they had been through over two to three years that they just did what the occupier wanted. Remember that the Nazis had guns and they did not and they feared that any signs of resistance would be met with extreme terror. That is how the Nazis were able to murder so many.

    You probably didn't attend the courses. Formal logic is the study of logic using special symbols and clearly-defined rules of reasoning. They are very useful in linguistics, philosophy, artificial intelligence and mathematics. So it has a very wide range of applications.

    because we both know that's not it. What does it matter to you emotionally? Did your granddad get hung? And you want to 'set the record straight? " Are you trying to make sense of the world & need to validate a core belief to feel valid yourself or...what dude? Tell me/us ..the world. Or are you crazy or ... hateful or what...?? I already said I like a good argument & when I see something that obviously fucked I'm sayin sumpin' .I used to be WP dude so I know what it's all about. It's BS.

    Sure I do I have been presenting it all along. It is you who fails to accept the argumnets presented. It is YOU who sidesteps what he cannot deal w/ in his own mind & so builds logical circles in his own mind to deal w/ cannot be accepted w/o breaking down your reality map. 2) the HUNS kept records because they are organized & many of the perpetrators DID NOT BELIEVE that they were committing crimes. They had dogma to reenforce that doing what they were doing was legit.

    ANOTHER GOOD EXAMPLE OF YOU IGNORING AN ARGUMENT YOU CAN'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR IS THIS POST I JUST RESPONDED TO.

    You should know that I don't hate you. every one has issues. You do piss me off though w/ your inability to/unwillingness to be honest with yourself when you deal w/me. Have a decent life. We are done.

    say about the psychological state of him? Unsmart? Maybe but I think it is more about something he has a stake in that if he really has to look at it it will make his whole reality map unravel. So I'm sure you know that when one does that they cannot handle it & freak. Like proving that Mormonism was made up out of the blue to one of those guys in the white shirts with a a name tag.

    I have crushed your every statement by backing up my words w/ FACTS & logic based ON FACTS ( I quote my sources BTW). You are unable to do so because you are insane. I make VALID POINT AFTER POINT YOU JUST CANNOT DEAL

    @just3ta Jesus was a Jew as was his mother. And if you blame EVERY Jew today for something that happened 2,000 years ago then maybe YOUr should be forced to pay every cent your family stole in the old country. If the Jews welcomed Stalin, maybe it was because the Poles were always so hateful to them for centuries.
    That picture you worship at Jasna Gora is of a JEWISH WOMAN.
    If you are so hateful you are not a Christian.

    @vampiroangelico There are no references to democracy in the New Testament, nor in any other source on the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire was a dictatorship. The Jewish population did not get a vote - even in this work of fiction. Jewish law accepted capital punishment in theory but not by crucifiction and in any case was almost impossible in practice.
    If Jesus existed (which I doubt) then it was 100% certain the Romans arrested, tried and killed him.
