After shaping, it's good to slide the arm to the #1 position and remove the heel, leaving about 1/8" of a bevel. Really helps especially on the inside of a bowl.
Wish I would of seen this system when I was looking a sharpening systems I got the wolverine vari grind yours looks way better but it's the same thing to make the 40/40 on the wolverine
I was a little confused on the first part. Using the tool platform but lift the tool off the platform? I think your hand may have been in the way. We’re you resting the back of the tool on the platform or just free handling it?
Ken, your sharpening system is just wrong!!! I bought a set of inexpensive turning tools to practice sharpening different grinds on and I used the 1HP Rikon grinder with CBN wheels along with your Kodiac system that I bought from you. I’ve been enjoying sharpening so much, that I darn near forgotten about turning. But, I do have a cheap set of nicely sharpened chisels, all about a half inch long… 🤦♂️ Seriously, the Kodiak system is a great, even though I’m experienced with tools and sharpening in general, sharpening gouges is a whole new animal and the Kodiak system makes it easy to get accurate, sharp grinds. I have used many different grinding media in my day, but CBN will blow your mind. I have been using them for several months now and I still can’t believe how well they cut and how damn cool they stay. Like I said earlier, I think there's something wrong with Kens system, (maybe Ken too?) but if that's so, I don't want to be right! 😁
@@WoodturnersWonders Ken, I neglected to say just how GREAT all you folks are at Woodturners Wonders. Everyone I've talked to has been truly knowledgeable about the products you sell, and make sure I'm getting just what I need with no up selling pressure, quite the opposite. Ken stands behind his products, his after sales support is beyond reproach. It would be great if you would consider expanding your product line, say, hand tools or a line of power tools. And then maybe a line of furniture, mattresses, home electronics, toaster ovens...😜

Totally Agree
Has anyone attempted the Asynmetric grind on the Kodiak? I wonder if it's possible.
What about sharpening a swept back or Ellsworth grind?
