Hi! I just wanted to let you know that JVN hair pre wash scalp oil, repair serum & complete air dry cream saved my hair from being so dry last week. I really highly recommend them to everyone❤.
Hi Jonathan! I am 31 years old and have had depression for more than half of my life. But I feel that I forget all the bad things when I watch QE and your videos, you are a magical person, you can't imagine the joy you bring me, I would love to meet you for just 5 minutes to be happy and keep that memory forever. Thank you for brightening up my bad days with your magic 💜💜
Never To Dos: 1. Bleach and tone long-term 2. Slick back wet hair 3. Use coconut oil on your hair/scalp 4. Use rubber bands 5. Use a black box color Bonus Tip 5b. Use lemon juice or Sun In 6. Wash with hot water 7. Go into a pool with dry hair 8. Round brush wet hair 9. Rough dry randomly 10. Stylist hop, aka not give a stylist at least 2 chances to get to know your hair before switching
Seriously educational, wow! Love this. And JVN is, as always, a beautiful human inside and out. JVN team is doing good things, and we're all thankful for the hard work!
I have been using your products and ONLY your products since they hit the shelves.. my stylist is amazed that every time I see her all I need is a light dusting! I will never use anything else ! Thank u for your tips and for creating such amazing products. My daughter is transitioning MtF and I have introduced her to your channel. She is learning so much about how to care for her hair! Thank u for being a light in the world!
JVN! I have been noticing lately in your IG stories and YT vids that you have just looked EXTRA stunning. Like your hair and skin are on point - you're absolutely glowing and I just thought you should know how pretty you look
Oh my god, where to start. 1. Jared is adorable and has the sweetest smile. 2. You look so gorgeous. 3. I am totally guilty of washing my hair in steaming hot water, never thinking twice about it...until now! 4. I rough dry my hair all the time for volume because I have layers...again, never thought about it until now. 5. I love your videos, etc. so much; you are an awesome teacher - thank you!!
JONATHAN! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FREE PRODUCT! I was one of the winners of the free product boxes in at your Indiana show! I am never using any other products again. They are fire! You also were AMAZING and still are everyday! Love you! - Katie
Black box dye is SO hard to get out. Mine is ~finally~ gone after 2 years, so much damage, and more than $1,000 to get to a highlighted dark blonde (might be different for another end goal). At this point, most of the black dye has been cut off, but definitely a long and expensive process if you want to look decent throughout the 2 years, lol!
Such a positive channel 😊 I am glad that you told about coconut oil, a lot of people claims that coconut oil is perfect for hair, I think its the worst, especially for curly hair...
I just bought a bunch of your products and I am so excited to use them! I have fought with my hair for forever, and it would be amazing to finally turn this mess into something amazing.
As for coconut oil, I have scalp psoriasis as well as on my body and i've been moving away prescription hormonal creams/foams/shampoos and through experimentation found that Indian Coconut Oil works best for my flares.
Brilliant tips but tip #9 could be a game changer for me. Never heard someone say never rough dry against the grain of the hair. It makes so much sense to avoid frizz when you want a straight look. Can't wait to try it out!
Two Things: 1.) Sun-In did me in as a teen. What can I say? It was the cool kid thing to do at the time. As a person with incredibly dark and curly hair--when that hot @$$ mess *FINALLY* started to grow out? It looked like I had flames shooting up from my tips. Never again, folks. 2.) I worked as a vintage vehicle mechanic.....with waist length hair. Sometimes my hair ties would break. *NO RUBBER BANDS!* They are horrible for your hair. A 16 penny nail, wrap your hair up french-twist style, use the nail to secure it, then put a bandana over your head a la Rosie the Riviter. It only took one time having a chunk of my hair cut out of a drive shaft with a pocket knife to learn that lil' trick. ***Just my two pennies on the situation.*** As always, JVN, you are an inspiration and a love and you exude kindness and love. This world does not deserve your greatness. But we *NEED* you, sweetie! Keep being awesome!! ❤️
Me, working from home, to my cats when I see a new JVN video..."Boys, Chrissy's going to learn something new today!" Thank you, Professor! Love and a happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! ❤️

Pretty sure I won't be bumping into Jared any time soon living in rural Michigan, but I fully support making him an internet celebrity!! JVN you are amazing as always and I am living for your products as well!
Just bought my first JVN hair products on Black Friday!!! I’m so excited to try this line I just got a fresh color and I can’t wait for these to enhance my hair!
Jonathan, I beg, for those of us who found this video 2 weeks after applying black box dye, please make a video for what we can do moving forward. What to do when you've done the unthinkable - how to work your way back from black box dye. lol
How have I never realized that blow drying against the grain of my hair makes it more frizzy?! Thank you for sharing all of these important things! I appreciate it 🌈💗🙏🏼
Thank you Jonathan, you gorgeous babe, your eyes look so great! Thank you for the tips, I once dyed my hair black with a box dye 🤯. My mother used to tie my hair in tight, tight ponytails, ouch and use lemon juice on my hair. I learnt not go to the pool with dry hair, thank you. Please always include gray as a colour 🙏🏼.
As someone that used black box color for a solid 15 years, I would absolutely recommend avoiding it as well. I started losing a lot of hair near the end.
Jonathan, I desperately need a video about frizzy hair!!! My hair are always unmanageable and my blowout doesn’t last 🥲 Lots of kisses from Italy ❤️❤️😘
I do a lot of historic costuming for fun and I always thought black box color looks like clothing dye. Yay instincts proven right! I know black henna comes with it’s own permanent risks but it is so much more manageable in the long run!
"I love your sell" I think it is a bit more than just a sell, it is how you add your own flair and own it, love it and radiate it. A radiance about you with it.
So interesting. I also like my hair super wet when I blow dry it. I will even re-wet sections before I start drying them. I don’t understand when I see stylists waiting for Afro-textured hair to be damp or semi-dry before blow drying.
My hair is similar to yours but at my hip. Menopspausal issues I find my hair drier and breaking off I am considering cutting it off but everyone is telling me not to. (They like my hair better than I do it seems). I never use elastics either when I was a kid we did and it breaks it up like crazy. You are awesome Johnathon I am so glad you found your person & seem so content. Cheers!
I used coconut oil on my hair for like 12 years, grew my hair past my knees --> coconut oil only below the ears and no heat styling or products. and it only works in tropical/semi tropical climates.
Love your videos! I’d love to see videos on refreshing a blowout without having to wash your hair again AND your thoughts on blow dryer brushes. Thanks hunny!! ❤
OMG I am loving all of your videos right now going from one to the next to the next liking them all you are so funny and your delivery is superb. Thank you for all of your advice.🙏🙌🥰
what about coconut oil for indian hair? I obviously take your advice incredibly seriously, it's just that as an indian it's just passed down generation after generation to use coconut oil (more commonly than other oils) like my great-grams, grams, and my mama have used and have asked me to use coconut oil! if it's not cute to use coconut, what other kinds of oil do you advise? especially for dry scalps! LOVE YOU JVN xx
I just ordered a whole bunch of JVN products, including the scalp oil! I'm so excited. I love what your brand stands for. I am confused however, as on your JVN website the pre-wash scalp oil does state quite high on the ingredients list: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil. Is it ok in formulations rather than stand-alone, raw coconut oil?
Love all these tips! I have a question in regard to round brushing though! I have used one once, but much of my family have started using these new, trendy round-brush-built-in hairdryers, and given your tips to not round brush until the hair is mostly dried, would you advise against those appliances?
So helpful, cheers luv. By the way i was distracted throughtout by your beautiful make up. Here's to rough drying with the grain and rinsing with cool water. xx Love from a Brit in Italy
Your explanation of coconut oil explained something to me, maybe - I have atopic ecsema and I found out years ago it's not great for me even elsewhere on the body. The fact that it does not absorb well and just stays on top would probably go a long way towards explaining that - since it's safe to assume my skin elsewhere on the body is far too fragile for it as well.
Also, as a person who has no idea what to do with her hair most of the time, I'm pleased to find out my instincts were right anyway in some cases. I think I figured out the hair drying direction on my own; I'm not sure I always manage it hand-logistics-wise 😅 but the intention is there. And I hated too much tension & rubber bands since I was little - being Czech, when I was little, in my barely-post-Communist country at the time rubber bands were all we had (though I don't think that state of affairs lasted long, thankfully). Hated them. I think we all did; I still remember mom had a moment where she tried to improve them by crocheting over them, which unfortunately did not have an elasticity to match. :-) There was, unfortunately, also a sort of fashion to pull the hair back really tightly, with no parting, which was one of the reasons I rarely let other girls my age play with my hair... my mother was fortunately wiser in that regard. 😊
I keep learning from you! This was great. I had a “vegan” straightening treatment that had “citrus” in it, aka lemon juice. Turned my brown hair bright orange! 🍊😫 Can’t wait to learn more from you about the abc’s and 123’s of hair texture in a future video. Super confusing to me. Thanks so much! 😘
I second a future hair type video! I googled it and I think I have type 1a hair, but still trying to figure out what I should and shouldn't do for my hair type.
What do you recommend for those of us going through it with our hair? I’m currently having a UCTD flare and my hair is falling out. Hoping prednisone will get it under control, but yikes. 😮
I would definitely visit the doctor first, because there may be things to work on internally first. Then, I would focus on a scalp treatment to make sure that the hairs growing back come in healthy and strong. ❤️
I always say this, but thank you for your tips. And putting in the time and effort to make this. They are extremely helpful! You are the best! Love you! 💜
Turning 54 in a few days. Use good scrunchies ✔ Haven't colored in forever✔ Don't blow dry or rarely✔ I've seen the same stylist for 22 years, but dont go often. But I'm going gray fast! Loss of hair is to much😡 besides a good cut, what type of shampoo & conditioner should I use?
Thank you! These are all so useful. The hair tip in your last video about using the wide tooth comb with the deep conditioner was a game changer for my hair ❤ sending you so much love from over here in Australia 🌼
I purchased your pre wash scalp oil and love it! Your videos are so helpful and your personality is so fun! Would I be able to leave in the oil overnight or is that bad for my hair? I have dry scalp and thick wavy hair. Thank you!
I typically leave mine in for about 20 minutes, sometimes up to 45 if it’s been a while. Anymore than that could irritate the scalp. Of course every scalp is different!
I learnt the number #1 tip myself and it hurts. I was bleached platinum blonde for a few years until my hair said "enough" and a reckless hairstylist chemically burnt my hair :( so now I am back to my natural color, I just do gloss treatment to add extra shine at the hair salon 3 times a year... but YES your tips are absolutely accurate!
First time watching a video on this channel and love it! Timely to say the least. I just got out of the shower and had it up in a tight bun...ahhhhh I have never taken my hair out of a bun so quickly LOL
So I had a wonderful experience with lemon juice but I soaked a cotton round in it and the pulled highlights around my face and part, and only wet those pieces. Seriously looked great!
thank you very much for this it so helpful cause my sister was loosing her hair so she of course first visited her doctor then she stared doing everything you recomended like sampoo with no sulfate and how to wash your hair she stopped using the heat and the results are great so thank you very much
You are the MOST gorgeous and thank you for these tips!!...I have committed the crime of rough drying AGAINST the grain of my 3A-3B curls 😱, thus making them frizzy AF.
Can you tell me if this is bad? I get mixed reviews. My hair tangles easily throughout the day and to detangle it, I prefer to use a wet brush and brush it in the shower when I have conditioner in. It's just so much easier to brush with conditioner, but I'm afraid that you aren't supposed to brush your hair when it's wet. Help :)
Question: does anybody know if it's harmful to your pool to have the conditioner on your hair? Just curious. Cuz I've thought of doing that but I didn't know if it was harmful to mix that with chlorine, etc. But great advice if it's safe! My hair definitely needs the protection.
I'm learning !! I've never been one that's able to make slick back pony and I saw somewhere that you're supposed to put gel in wet for that so thank you for debunking this!
I’ve been putting my wet hair in a ponytail once I got out of the shower my whole life. I never knew it was bad. I don’t like hair drying down because it gets frizzy and I don’t apply heat on my hair. Is there anything else that could be recommended?
I love these tips!!! Do you have any recommendations for someone who is suffering from trichotillomania and is trying to regrow their hair? Thank you!!!!
The best is always to visit a medical professional first, and then go back to treating the scalp first for hair to begin growing back healthy and strong. ❤️
Mind blown at the pool tip! I will now be the gal bringing my travel sized conditioner to all the pools next summer 😂 Would you say that we should approach the ocean the same way?

So I had a wonderful experience with lemon juice but I soaked a cotton round in it and the pulled highlights around my face and part, and only wet those pieces. Seriously looked great!
thank you very much for this it so helpful cause my sister was loosing her hair so she of course first visited her doctor then she stared doing everything you recomended like sampoo with no sulfate and how to wash your hair she stopped using the heat and the results are great so thank you very much
I've been bleaching & toning my hair multiple times a year since 2016. I think it looks good & I often get compliments 💝
You are the MOST gorgeous and thank you for these tips!!...I have committed the crime of rough drying AGAINST the grain of my 3A-3B curls 😱, thus making them frizzy AF.
Excuse you but you are freaking fabulous!!!! Hair, fit, beat is all on point!!!!
Thank you so much for all the helpful recommendations! I really appreciate it.
Thank you for these fantastic concepts/advice! You are just a totally FAB teacher!
Thanks for sharing these tips! I'm new to using JVN products and absolutely love them for my natural curls.
Help :)
Very helpful! Thank you!
even with my dark dark hair, i cut my hair several times to get that box dye out. it’s not worth it
Question: does anybody know if it's harmful to your pool to have the conditioner on your hair? Just curious. Cuz I've thought of doing that but I didn't know if it was harmful to mix that with chlorine, etc. But great advice if it's safe! My hair definitely needs the protection.
I'm learning !! I've never been one that's able to make slick back pony and I saw somewhere that you're supposed to put gel in wet for that so thank you for debunking this!
Never change sweet Jonathan. You made me laugh, and I learned some new tips and tricks. Thank you.
Thank you for all your helpful information. What about products with coconut oil in them is that bad as well?
omg i love your hair and its color!! it looks so healthy!
I’ve been putting my wet hair in a ponytail once I got out of the shower my whole life. I never knew it was bad. I don’t like hair drying down because it gets frizzy and I don’t apply heat on my hair. Is there anything else that could be recommended?
I use grape seed oil.. it's very light, and acts as a good product for frizz and curls.
@@ashakabeta Do you dry your hair before using it?
Omg coconut oil totally screwed up my hair and I used it in EXCESS for YEARSSSS!!! I stopped about 2 years ago and wow...major improvement.
thank you soooo much! I never knew that about black hair color... yikes! also.... I WANT your EYEBROWS!!!!!!! love love love!
You are beautiful. Also the young man was so stinkin adorable!!
Literally, the most informative video ever posted on TH-cam! ❤
