Good morning y'all and happy healthy hair queens!! Want more tips? Here are 10 more things I would never do to my hair: th-cam.com/video/k7sz5O1sRiM/w-d-xo.html
I’ve missed you so much! What a gift to see your face this morning! This past week I’ve boxed dyed my roots (semi-permanent and a little lighter) and impulsively cut my dead ends off 😅😂 as I had to push back my hair appt a month and a half. You are back and I feel inspired to behave once again………love you!
YES to semi-permanent! Unless you are going lighter, of course and need your natural color lifted first. Permanent strips your own color THEN deposits the new pigment - not everyone needs that so are damaging their hair unnecessarily. Semi-permanent also grants us grace when grow out begins to show, it looks way more natural (if you don't want a harsh line). LOVELY to have you back JVN!! xo
semi permanent retouching is the best thing i ever did to my hair! and my daughter wont listen to me about the slick backs but maybe she will hear jvn. 😊
I put my hair in two braids when I sleep. Putting it up makes my neck hurt. My hair is similar to yours but not as healthy! But I'm also older so the whole gray menopause breakage is a real deal. I finally found a colorist who figured out what I was trying to convey which is that it's the pepper of the salt and pepper growth that I don't like, not the salt! So now we use semi permanent blonde highlights and let some of the natural gray blend into it and use the pepper as a natural low light, just less of it and I'm so happy with it these days! Leaving the gray, people tell me almost every day that my hair is so pretty and I realize I can't hide my age so I just give it a big hug!! ♥️
Sooo happy to have you back here, you were so missed! Curly hair problem here; I PAMPER my curly hair, sleep with a bonnet, mask, trim, the whole works, but I can't for the life of me get it to grow long. I know shrinkage is very real, but it's not just that. It takes years upon years to get the tiniest length and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.... HALP!
just came back from your live! you have no idea how fast i ran to your youtube when you said you were back! AND THE HAIR GLOSS IM THE ONE WHO COMMENTED AB IT AND IM SO FREAKING IEXCITEDDDD i love all your products and cant wait to try ittt😭
Jonathan!!! My ❤! So happy!!! You could use a demi color at Sally’s, on your roots or whole head, and it will wash out in 10-15 shampoos. If you have to wait for a stylist. (It could dry out your hair fyi)
So glad you’re back! Your videos are so insightful and fun! Please keep them coming! I wish I had someone with your gifts to take care of my hair! It desperately needs serious professional help!!!
I love your Videos! I missed your Content & your Hairtipps are sooo helpfull, all the things noone tells you! But you do! I am so glad, that you are back! ♥
I go to sleep with wet hair all the time! 😭 And I sleep with my hair down (when I was younger and my hair was waist length I didn't, it was just too much hair, but with my 'halfway down my back' length hair I thought it would be fine) How wonderful to learn something new and helpful (it makes so much sense!) oh no... another mistake, I cut my own hair (it is wavy and quite thick so maybe that's how I'm getting away with it) and I ran into my wonderful hair stylist and she said 'ok, but you did do quite a good job' but it doesn't look fabulous like when she does it. I'm going to make an appointment and see her. I am inspired by your video 😍
I'm so glad you're back! Do you think there's such thing as too many products when doing your hair? I have super thick curly hair and all the curl routines use so many things. Leave-in conditioner, curl cream, mousse, heat protectant, gel, and then hair oil after diffusing. Results are great but there's gotta be another way.
If after applying your products you’re achieving your desired end result, then that’s the amount of product your hair is responding best to. You might have hair that is a bit more on the porous side, which tends to really want to drink up a lot of product. Just be sure you’re using high quality, silicone-free products to try to minimize buildup and washing with more gentle, sulfate-free shampoos to help minimize stripping your natural oils.
Happy to see you back. I am growing out permanent hair color and using demi for my greys. I use wella color touch. I'm struggling to get the shade right. I'm a natural level 5 ash toned so using 5/1 but it's too dark. I don't like the harsh line from permanent colours.
Well, hello!! Good morning ☀️ gorgeous JVN!! 🩷🩷 Sooo happy to see your face this morning & so happy you are back on TH-cam!! 🦋 PS I would be really interested to know about the impact of stress on your hair? I spent all of my 20’s in an abusive relationship. I’m not sure but I’m guessing that might have had an effect. 💕
Putting in a fan-request 🙋If he can share his amazing tips for color treated hair. I'm currently struggling with how to keep colored hair hydrated in between weekly washes for thick frizzy 2b wavy hair. Loving all of these videos! Finally understanding my hair at 41 years old!
@jvn i have some salt and pepper , I've used the blonde one and the silver one, not sure which I like best, but after I shampoo , use it then rinse , and use some leave conditioner and my new Revlon air brush... LOVE IT
I just started my red semi-permanent at home hair journey and I'M SO HAPPY! My hair is so much fuller, shinier, and healthier. I was box dying my hair red from 14 to 30ish. Then during the pandemic I box bleached my long, fine, light brown (dyed red) hair twice and completely destroyed it. The fun colors were great but I'm over high maintenance damaged hair. The semi permanent red on my light brown hair is perfectly fine and lasts JUST as long as the permanent (if not longer) WITHOUT turning brassy.
I wasn't even here for the tips tbh. I felt like I'd know Jonathans main tips.. just here to spend a rainy lunchbreak with Jonathan. But the tips were actually really helpful! I had to edit this comment halfway through to change the tenses😂
So happy to find you on TH-cam! Been following you on Insta and TT, but it's not enough!! 😍😍 I very rarely use heat on my hair, just air dry, and I always get compliments on how soft my hair is. I prefer to comb/brush and go, and I have an amazing stylist that gives me a great cut, and style it when I want, sometimes I add highlights. I love your tips, will definitely keep them in mind if I decide to change things up!!
Question! So if I use heat protection when blow drying would I still have to use it the next day if I wanted to use a straightener (assuming I didn’t wash my hair)?
I usually put product in my hair when it’s wet, and then twist it and secure it with a claw clip. I like that it helps tame some waviness as it dries. Is this bad like pulling it back wet with an elastic? I never thought of it that way until now!
Yes and yes! You can just apply some jvn instant recovery serum through quickly with your fingers or a wide tooth comb and then heat style again. The heat protection unfortunately won’t work on day 2 with any heat protectant.
I’m partial to my own hehe the jvn hair instant recovery serum largely because the ingredients are also hydrating good for long term use and doesn’t weigh your hair down.
So, if I’m totally white and tired of it would semi permanent color be a good choice for a change? Or is there something else you’d recommend? OR will every type of color stain white hair?
Also we missed the pets and we want to hear stories about them and we want each one to have their own full entire episode and how's your husband and how was living in another city and stuff like that
Love you Jonathan!!! Question for you. I have fine hair. I stopped wearing my hair up because of breakage. If I wear my hair up in a silk bonnet, is breakage a potential issue? Or is it ok because the top part of my hair doesn’t have to support the weight when I sleep?
i went to a professional hairdresser for the first time to make me blonde and ik it’s her job but i was just so impressed with how easy it was and i thought i wouldn’t be able to and im never doing my hair color myself again lol like she made my hair look and feel healthier even tho i was getting and all over bleach
Considering you're in the business of selling and promoting products, this might be a silly request... Would you ever consider doing a video on DIY home/kitchen hair care? Like the benefits of coconut, avocado, olive, or grapeseed oils? Or making a hair mask from ingredients from the fridge? I appreciate you acknowledged the affordability (thus accessibility) of salon care, but it really is a luxury service nowadays. Having a professional weigh in on how to care for and nourish your hair, especially when a salon visit isn't an option, would be phenomenal!
As a 44 year old woman who has been doing dumb shit to her hair since the 90's, I say all these tips are solid. Biggest one don't use box dye that's permanent . 2 years and still working on getting out ugly box permanent dye.
Jonathan please don't use dryer sheets! Caustic chemicals like the ones you avoid putting in your hair products get coated on your clothes and then you absorb them subcutaneously, through your skin, into your blood. I throw a cup of white vinegar in my wash and man does it remove any soap traces and soften your fabrics.
Omg! I didnt realize i was causing scalp issues by keeping my hair wet overnight or even during the day. I would often put it up in a messy bun and thought it was cool how it stayed damp slightly even at the end of the day cuz its so long and thick. 😂😅😂 I am doing all the worst things to it
Love: missed you so much. You are a light in this world and a JOY. I got bangs two months ago and just completely regret it. Still. It’s giving Leather Tuscadero and not the chic 50 year old Italian screen star Inhad hope for. Advice?? It’s just really heavy, thick and shag adjacent which is a style I don’t love even though I know some lovelies do. What to do??? 🥺🙏🏻❤️
There’s some weird feedback I’m hearing in my AirPods. Like a white noise when you start speaking. During the transitions it’s fine. Glad you’re back!!
Hi there. I'm a Wen girl BUT your product ARE very, very good. I tried everything out there and pitched it all away. I love your milk blow out styling thingy. I'm probably not saying it right but it has the word milk in it. You simply take one or two pumps and rub hands together to emulsify, then run through freshly cleansed very damp hair and blow out. uh.....my hair came out loaded with hydration. Soft, held the style and smelled lovely. Your products actually DO smell good! I've tried products that smelled awful. LOL! I don't want to say what I thought they smelled like but yours are very pleasant and subtle. LOL!!! Betty Boop fringe! You would make lovely friend....thank you for the videos and the nice products. XXOO
Forgot! Your hair is getting long. I just cut eight inches off mine. It was just too uneven. It was down to my butt. Too much work! I lost my hair color too soon. I'm a worrier. I think that does it. People that don't worry have gorgeous black hair....LOL!! Maybe you could do a color glossing? I would try it! WOW! You're 6 ' tall! I'm only 5' and change. I'm a shrimp! LOL!!!! Oh well...what can ya do? God bless..XXXOOO all your tips are wonderful too.
I used to cover my grays with semi-permanent color. Love it! Also made my hair incredibly healthy. You didn't mean demi-permanent though did you? Like a gloss or toner with 5 or 10 volume developer? I want to find a professional brown semi-permanent color, but can't find one. I think Kenra used to make one, but I can only find fashion color semi's in their line. Let me know what semi you're using! I'm saving this video for future clients (I'm currently a cosmetology apprentice)! 😘

I didn't know about the going to bed with wet hair situation!

So what brand of heat protectant do you recommend? I went through your product listing and didn't see any.
My instant recovery serum and blowout styling milk are both heat protectants!

Question! So if I use heat protection when blow drying would I still have to use it the next day if I wanted to use a straightener (assuming I didn’t wash my hair)?
Yes!! Just reapply before heat styling.
OMG Jonathan i missed your beautiful face around here!!
Yay!!! Hair dreams. ✨✨✨
They've got the contessa eye makeup on lock today 🎉
Hi Jonathan, So glad you are back! I haven’t used a blow dryer on my hair in about six years. I just let it air dry. Is that bad for my hair? ❤😊
Great advice! Thank you!
P.S. You were amazing in Portland, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time! Come back soon! 🩷
I usually put product in my hair when it’s wet, and then twist it and secure it with a claw clip. I like that it helps tame some waviness as it dries. Is this bad like pulling it back wet with an elastic? I never thought of it that way until now!
I always wait for mine to dry first or at least leave room if I can’t because the hair will stretch when it dries and can break ❤️
@@jvn Thank you Jonathan. I thought I was fine because it was a loose clip. I didn’t know my hair would shrink and pull. It stops today!
Talk to me about this top!!!!! It is soooooo cute!!!!
Do I need to use heat protection on day 2+ hair when it’s dry and I’ve used heat protectant leave in the day before?
Yes and yes! You can just apply some jvn instant recovery serum through quickly with your fingers or a wide tooth comb and then heat style again. The heat protection unfortunately won’t work on day 2 with any heat protectant.
Do u recommend a certain brand of heat protector?

Love your product line, your show(s) and just you in general.

Where can I find your JVN products here in Italy? I am struggling to find some good heat protection products..
Thanks ❤
i went to a professional hairdresser for the first time to make me blonde and ik it’s her job but i was just so impressed with how easy it was and i thought i wouldn’t be able to and im never doing my hair color myself again lol like she made my hair look and feel healthier even tho i was getting and all over bleach
I wash my hail twist it up and hairclip it and go
Considering you're in the business of selling and promoting products, this might be a silly request...

Not me going to bed last night with wet hair and hair down 99% of the time 😅
Still. I don’t have a sleep bonnet but I have a silk/satin pillow case and I wrap my hair up in itself with no tie so hopefully that’s okay 🙈🤣
There’s some weird feedback I’m hearing in my AirPods. Like a white noise when you start speaking. During the transitions it’s fine.
Glad you’re back!!
Your hair is so long and beautiful 😍
How do you sleep with your hair up without getting weird bumpity bumps everywhere..especially at the crown 👑

I box color for grey touch ups and I have to recolor every 4 weeks. I save hundreds per month by not going to a stylist.
My mom gave me an old wives tale story of sleeping with wet hair gives you headaches for life. But hair health makes more sense 🤣
When is the strengthening shampoo coming back to the JVN hair line??!?!!!
