Yes, after landing in San Francisco in 1974 after serving in Korea, people seemed to hate us and we did not understand the hostility. They would call us names under their breath. It was difficult for many. We could not have a beer with our friends before departing yet it really didn't matter much. We were still so happy to be home.

@ Judy Nevers - Your land is not safe, especially not for blacks. Always there is gun violence and a failure of your so called justice system. It is full of corruption and immorality and the persecution of right minded people. Your political system has degenerated to a cess pool and you have the most unfit and unworthy people in high office. You cannot even govern yourselves and constantly there is childish bi partisan conflict and failure of financial authority. It is not free and there is censorship and cancellation against any who do not accept the corrupt narrative fuelled by corporate interests and government that benefits from such.
Your country constantly meddles in other countries using violence and corruption and has engaged in 30 wars since 1945 with millions killed and countries that offered no threat to the US destroyed and ruined. Ukraine is the direct result of US meddling, and corruption and utilising Nazi elements, absolutely atrocious.
9/11 was horribly wrong but long overdue. Your country is not safe and stinks to Heaven.
You are clearly grossly ignorant. Wake up.

I'm so glad these military members are getting the positive recognition they deserve. I'm so thankful for their service. Woman Marine here, 65-68. Being transferred to MCAS Futema in Okinawa Dec 1966, we were ordered to travel in uniform. Returning to US Mar 68, we were ordered to travel in civilian clothes and remove any indications that we had military affiliation. My USAF husband's experience was similar when returning from Vietnam. Military members were being verbally assaulted some physical destruction of gear/cars. We both went to college where we met. Veterans status was hidden for the most part. When dating, my husband and I never discussed our military experiences. I hope no other generation of military members has to experience such hatred and disapproval!! The good news, We didn't let all the negativity affect us. We are happily married 53 yrs and we both had long civilian careers that we loved and are enjoying retirement! 😊👍❣️🇺🇸

These 3-4 yrs of strict discipline will stop most of this BLM/ANTIFA/CAIR BS. and no one can be elected or appointed to any state, federal, county office that has not served 4 yrs FT front line in any branch of the USA and no Reserves or JAG crap.
All teachers before they get their teaching license/certification must also serve 4 yrs in Military and you will stop this BS

where is the praise for all the farmers and lumber jacks? you may be a good person but the wars you fight for the united states don't mean you should be praised by it. this is not ww2 anymore USA has not had any invasions done to them in forever. you have not fought for your mother land in forever. all USA has done the past years is corruption and destruction all for the name of money. you don't deserve the respect unless you are actually defending your country. beyond that you are just a tool and should be remembered as such. you can be respected and honored by your fellow military friends for your services but don't expect the civilized world to respect you.

@@smokeynedith3555 Hi Edith - BTW - My Austrian Aunt's name is also Edith. I was an Army kid and changed school so very many times, but still retained an A-B average. We travelled all over the U.S. and Overseas to Austria, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, and Hungary. Loved all of the travelling. The only downfall that I felt was that when Dad retired, we went to Public Schools and all of the kids knew each other because they grew up together -- kind of felt like an outsider at times. I am quite sure that retirees and their kids had the same experience. Now that I am an adult, things are different because those school ties don't exist for most kids and everyone goes their own way. I have my own close knit group of friends. What I did gain was that I am well adjusted, grew up perhaps a little more worldly due to Dad's military career, know my own mind, know what is right and what is wrong, am not afraid to speak my own mind, and MOST IMPORTANTLY ... I am Patriotic. As for your experience, I guess that old Virginia Slims' saying is that for women -- "WE STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO" ! God Bless You My Friend and God Bless America !

@@IphieTheSlickBoss Vietnam was an unpopular war.......protest all the time. Many bad things happened there. Soldiers were called baby killers. Too many civilians killed. Instead of the politician who sent them there.....the soldiers took all the heat. So when they got home , they were vilified. Some were bad but most were just doing whatever it took to stay alive and get home. It was just a bad deal for everyone

If it were not for these Armed Forces people, there would not even BE a safe country to return to.

@ What did these Vets do? I understand WW1 , WW2 and Vietnam but everything after that was pointless.
Look at New Zealand and Japan, never involved in a War after WW2. Why..., because they chose to talk to the leaders and make peace with them.
Thats whats gonna bring Humanity forward not some pointless wars ending in nothing but death.
