An imaging guided surgeon (interventional radiologist) & neuroradiologist, author of nutrition, medical & study skills books, Peter Rogers MD is the "Spartan Vegan."
In college he was student athlete of the year at Stanford. Graduated 1st in medical school class.
Dr. Rogers works as neuroradiologist, but also did fellowship imaging guided surgery (interventional radiology) at Harvard. He got fat in 30's and learned his way out. He was one of best medical students in USA in biochemistry and tries to understand pathophysiology. Has written a books about nutrition & study skills including "How to improve blood flow," "Hot topics in nutrition," "Straight A at Stanford & on to Harvard," "How to raise IQ, & become a genius."
Stanford university student athlete of the year, 1985. University of Illinois medical school award for best male medical student in class; best student in pathology; highest board scores in class of 333 students; biochemistry score 780/800, possibly the highest in the USA (biochem is the most difficult subject in medical school). Biochem is “considered” to include nutrition. Residency at Northwestern with 99% board scores. Fellowship in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery) at Harvard. Fellowship in neuroradiology at Rush.
Author of multiple books about nutrition, reducing risk of disease, and study skills. Discovered almost all the major medical textbooks are 50-100 years out of date, and often, completely wrong. Secret desire #1 = to become a nutrition doctor, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. Secret desire #2 = to rewrite the major medical textbooks, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. The shocking truth is that most medical textbooks are essentially worthless, because they do no include nutrition, and most disease is caused by poor nutrition.

Love hearing Dr. Rogers. I worked in healthcare and a few doctors followed vegan diet but never told their patients about it. Dieticians would prescribe pared down Standard American Diets - even when clients had kidney failure from too much fat and protein. I follow Chef AJ, Dr. McDougall and the rest for the truth and to preserve my health! Thanks for these videos! PS - Potatoes is spelled with an e Dr. Rogers.

John Smith is still the coach of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys in Stillwater, OK - he invented the low-single-leg takedown and won an Olympic gold medal with it. Dude’s a living legend.
Hyper-focused people are uber-fascinating. Doctors Rogers, Esselstyn, Campbell, McDougall, Lisle and Goldhamer all fall into the hyper-focused category. Having all of these heroes alive at one time MUST be the most unique time to be alive here on Earth. We’re extremely lucky to have these leaders among us 🙏🏻

Is he the doc that said
“Skip the dressing, look better undressed” 😂 with all those oil-based dressings, I absolutely get his point though.
And is that the doc who made the 10 vegan commandments? I think it was so memorable! Very unique guest. Strong opinion but just like McDougall, he’s not sugar-coating anything to please people. Super refreshing in this cancel-culture times!

I didn't think there could be another video that was as entertaining and valuable as the other video by Dr. Rogers that I've seen on your channel, Chef AJ, but here it is! Thank you so much. This is perhaps life changing for me, and I am already an almost totally raw plant based person. I think this video may be helpful in converting others that could use this knowledge. He really is the best teacher!

Dr. Esselstyn promotes ground flax seeds; he adds to his oatmeal. Now Dr. Rogers cautions against. Lots of plant based doctors promote flax seeds. Dr. Barnard says if blood profile is okay and at ideal weight, an ounce of nuts per day is fine; likewise advice from Dr. McDougall. Dr. Bulsiewicz promotes coffee; particularly adding spices such as tumeric, black pepper, and cinnamon to each cup.

Dr. Rogers has theory based opinions (mechanisms) rather than clinical outcome based opinions.
Theories need to be carefully tested to find out whether they are actually evidence based. Dr. Goldner often points this out.

I would love to hear what Dr. Rogers thinks about Cancer Cachexia! It affects over 50% of all cancer patients and kills 30% yet medical Oncologists rarely discuss it with patients.
Dr. Patsy Polly says that cancer cachexia can be tumor driven- but can continue in some even after tumor removal. BMI is Not always best marker for this as it weakens muscles, causes fatigue and seems systematic.

    Dr Rogers...53 mins in..
And in plenty of other videos too...I hear you saying "atherosclerosis is a blood clot...its impt you know that"...
Can you tell me why you stress that....its a blood clot as opposed to what else? What do other people think it is? Thx...my layman understanding was that athlersclorosis is just that plaque build up in the arteries...from cholesterol..fat etc
I know from Esselstyn that when the cap is knocked off the plaque, due to say higher blood flow from exercise, a clot forms which can lead to heart attack but i don't know if that's what you're talking about here when you mention a blood clot?...actually later you say something like clots kill people...bleeding doesn't...so perhaps you're just stressing that clots are bad ?
    Anyway...thx for clarifying
