Smith has been good this year, for both Quins and England. And he is a rare talent. But whenever the Boks need to close out games, Pollard comes on. He is the best closer of a game I have ever seen. Even with limited game time, he really makes it count. Hoping Romaine Ntamack is healthy in 2025. I still think he is the best fly half when fit. De Allende is the best 12 for me. Tuipolotu has also been really good. But I am okay with Choccobares, I really like him. He's a really balanced player. Big call for me not having Jordan at 15. I thought Beaudie had some proper game changing moments for the ABs but fair play to Marcus, definitely a shining light for the English. And as a Saffa.. I would just love to see Grant Williams have a proper stint at starting 9!
Len Ikitau at 13 deserves a shout out. Consistently excellent for years now, even when the wobs haven't been doing well. Also on Will Jordan, his try scoring record of late (still pretty damn good) is probably about right, remember his record is a little over inflated because of his first full season with the ABs that featured that game against Tonga where he got 5 tries against a team that was cobbled together a couple days before the match, included multiple amateur players and a guy who hadn't played a match in 3-4 years that (I believe) they pulled off a building site. The ABs won 102-0. He also got a hat trick against the USA that same year in a game the ABs won 104-14.

Huge chasm after Dupont and Gibson-Park at the moment at 9 for other countries. I love to see Chocobares there, hugely disappointed his injury in that last rugby championship game kept him out for rest of the year. All the other 12s have been up and down(including Aki and De-Allende). Kriel his best year ever this year. I haven't been a huge fan always but this year he's been immense. Cinti has also been Mr consistant, without having the brilliant couple of games Kriel had. As a kiwi, the only one i would disagree with is Will Jordan. Could go a whole bunch of different wingers alongside Cheslin Kolbe, Will Jordan hasn't played well enough to snake one out of position from great performers. Mateo Carreras played better the entire rugby championship, Jordan has been fullback since. Argentina backline has done so much with such average ball this year.
Great fun video and everyone will have their opinion but Marcus Smith at 10 ? I cant remember England winning a lot of games with him leading the team around the park.As a Scot I would not even put Russell forward this year so Albornoz would be my front runner
It's often easier to look great when playing alongside other great players. There's no doubt the Argentina backline is complimenting each other at the moment. If you had to mix all the backline players in a squad together and have a coach select his best based on individual ability, that backline might look different ... but players who have shone in the matches we've watched, it's hard not to pick very much the same players - although the differences in some cases are incredibly small. Sounds stupid but Finn Russell is starting to be under rated. I mean 100% kicking accuracy in the 6 nations. 55 points scored and 3 try assists 150 meters made along with just less than 200 successful passes in just 4 games in the six nations

It's easy, when you are surrounded by a poor team and can shine like that, that's why he's been great. No one is predicting he'll be the best 10 ever or even next year. It's simply because of his amazing 2024.
@enriquenelson4516 my point is the shine is only relative to a very lacklustre rest of the team. "Put him in a Boks shirt or All Black shirt..." and you'll see he's just doing his job as a 10. Not bad but also not great. There's a reason why Pollard or Barrett are on the field in the last quarter. A great flyhalf should protect a lead or marshall the troops to chase down one. In both situations Marcus Smith has done neither.

Hmmmm. JGP probably does inch it for the 9 jersey. Flyhalf is probably the most difficult, but I'm going to pick Sacha. And no, not for the 60 meter penalty, not for the running game like Libbok or those little offensive stabs from him - it was the kicking battle in the first test against NZ. The way he outfoxed the All Black kickers to get the net gain is what seals the deal for me. At centre I apuld have gone for DDA, but Chocobares has the coolest name and has been immense, so Ill go with him too. Kriel at 13 probably picks himself this year. Kolbe and Jordan for the wingers is fair too, but there are some guys that are hot on their heels. Mallia at fifteen is probably a good choice as well, I can go with him. Or wait, hold on. How about Carreras, Kolbe and then Jordan at 15?? Yeah Ill go with that. So... 9. JGP 10. SFM 11. Carreras 12. Chocobares 13. Kriel 14. Kolbe 15. Jordan
Smith at 10 just isn’t backed up by results. He’s a cracking player individually but 10 is way more than that. He doesn’t manage the team well enough, and relies on kicking too much.

@@EggchasersRugby I watched the Argentina vs. Uruguay match, where the Pumas put 70 or 80 points on the poor Uruguayans, and Albornoz was hosting an absolute clinic. I thought, that was impressive, but it was still "only" Uruguay. Then he carried the same form into TRC, and that's no fluke anymore. Guy's got a complete fly-half portfolio. He can run the ball, attack the line, he can pass, he can kick from hand, and he's been excellent with the tee, slotting them conversions and penalty kicks like a robot. Seems a complete player to me.
Ireland fan. It's hard to pick our guys for these, I understand the reason why because they aren't x factor players! Our best players do 7/8 outa 10 week in week out, instead of the x factor players jumping 10/9 one week 5/6 the week after.
Both excellent. The Dream Team is for the entire 2024 international rugby. On that basis Tom Wright was v close for me and may end up making the team of the year this weekend at the awards.

Yeah no, Pollard over Smith for sure. Never saw Pollard getting charged down in his goal area to give away a try 😅 Pollard and DeAllende are brilliant in a non-flashy way.
Just one thing you need to find out about and do background home work and mention... a lot of your top player picks for other nations besides (South Africa) - When you mention their name/surname - Are actually - South Africans that did not make the pick in South Africa and are playing for another country - So - in true representation - South Africa through other nations is actually ruling the world of rugby...
So...
9. JGP
10. SFM
11. Carreras
12. Chocobares
13. Kriel
14. Kolbe
15. Jordan
Only Kolbe in the dream team backs is an indication how good the Boks backline is when playing together as a team and beating most of the other teams.
Agreed. AND how scary their pack is
Smith at 10 just isn’t backed up by results. He’s a cracking player individually but 10 is way more than that. He doesn’t manage the team well enough, and relies on kicking too much.
great choices,
regards
Video uploaded 10min ago, comment 6min ago, video 11min long. Looks like a desperate first comment😂
@@ErasmusAgri how sad are you, … he spread the choices around, and gave a balance view to his picks not just going with the same old same old. I care about rugby and fairness and reasoned thought. it’s clear what you care about. 😛 It’s sad Troll
@@ErasmusAgri bozo the clown made them all laugh but inside was he crying.
Kiwi here. Sad we have no centres in the team. Mallia is elite.
Kriel gets picked because of his versatility Egg Chaser
Imagine an international all-star style game where we cpuld actually see this team play together 👀
Bit unfair playing in the team against them ;)
I think Albornoz has been the best 10 this year. He's been immense.
Yep...a good shout. He was on the bench until the late part of Rugby Championship which is why i edged elsewhere. But 10, as I said, was SO hard to call.
Seems a complete player to me.
hello Marcus Smith good choice. 👍👍 Leon Vermeulen from South Africa regards
sorry Tim but a 10 needs to come from a winning team and your choice is not good . Pollard stays the man that wins you the game
Pollard = the best 10 off the bench. Not the best 10 of the year.
Do you understand the idea of picking players on individual merit?
I think it’s time that the British and Irish Lions start competing against other combined teams.
Chocobares!!👌
Just saying; Toulouse have the options of Mallia, Ramos and Capuozzo for full back yet have Blairrrr Kinghornnn as first choice.
Smith converted the kick against Ireland not ford 😂. So for that reason I do think he defo deserves a shout for best fly half
They should add a Tier 2 Nations player of the Year.
I would LOVE to see that.
Ireland fan.
It's hard to pick our guys for these, I understand the reason why because they aren't x factor players!
Our best players do 7/8 outa 10 week in week out, instead of the x factor players jumping 10/9 one week 5/6 the week after.
Tuipitlo I think was close to it.
Leni ikatua easily the best centre playing right now and tom Wright is the best fullback.
Both excellent. The Dream Team is for the entire 2024 international rugby. On that basis Tom Wright was v close for me and may end up making the team of the year this weekend at the awards.
Marcus Smith as best No 10 😂😂😂.
Shouting for Argentina this weekend
De allende is the best 12 in the world at the moment
R u rewarding a loosing mentality?!? Y Marcus Smith… it’s easy to look good on a bad Team
Handre and De Allende have to be in
Boks fans, the 2024 XV Dream Team is whatever 15 Boks players you personally rate. No other players from any other nation can possibly compete (even if they actually beat your team).
Happy now?
Mate I would apologize for the takes of my fellow Saffas but I am not them so I don't care but man we are arrogant at the moment for sure. Not all of us are like that. Have a good one
@ all good, man. Just having a bit of fun.
The thing is, the Boks are actually stacked with world class players! Ox, Eben, PSDT, Kolbe… they’re all amazing.
But other countries have good players too 😁
Dream team of the year is misleading. The almost but no quite best team? Best mid team? 2024 solid performers? The team of many caveates? The process of elimination team? The meh idk team?
Go for a walk mate.
Stay off the pipe.
Yeah no, Pollard over Smith for sure. Never saw Pollard getting charged down in his goal area to give away a try 😅
Pollard and DeAllende are brilliant in a non-flashy way.
I love Pollard - I said in the video he would make my World XV - but he has been on the bench for majority of 2024.
De Allende is flashy ffs.
DeAllande? Jordan at 15 and Pernaud or Tele'a at 14.
Penaud hasn't played this year. I said he'd make my World XV, but that isn't what the Dream Team is
so Marcus smith is there by default
Not by default so much. Simply it's not been a stand out year for fly halves generally. No one at the level of some of the other positions.
@@EggchasersRugby No need to apologize Tim Marcus is the standout 10 of 2024. Cheers from South Africa.
Mark telea robbed
Just one thing you need to find out about and do background home work and mention... a lot of your top player picks for other nations besides (South Africa) - When you mention their name/surname - Are actually - South Africans that did not make the pick in South Africa and are playing for another country - So - in true representation - South Africa through other nations is actually ruling the world of rugby... You research and advise.... Hence the great depth in what we as South Africa can offer to the world of rugby
A lot of his top picks for other nations are from South Africa, okay list them then mate.
"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" we Saffas need some humilty. That's why the world doesn't like us.
The world's best backline ran out for the Boks last weekend. The second best backline ran out for the Boks the weekend before that.
Haha. Scary depth I agree.
Make a list like this but for freshman(newcomers and youngsters under the age of 25)
Rassie cant afford to rest Jessie Kriel too much, because of Lukhanyo Am.
Who’s kicking?
Why do it before the autumn nations is over?
Because World Rugby select it this Sunday. They've likely already picked the team.
@@EggchasersRugby Damn you and your sensible, intelligent answers Tim! ;-)
