This makes me feel good about me purchase. I bought the Vizio SB36512. People said Vizio is pretty consistent with their sound and quality. I don't expect insane theater quality but I hope it is something that I can say was worth the purchase. I have kids at home so the least amount of wires the better. This is my first sound bar ever. I'll let you know how it sounds once it's been shipped and hooked up.

The sound bar is amazing. I was very impressed with the sound. I thought it was going to sound muffled. It has high volume at a low volume setting. The center speaker is clear. The rear speakers do a nice job at aiding with this the surround sound. The height speakers don't seem to bounce the sound from the ceiling. But when turned off you can tell the difference with the center speaker. It sounds more full with the height setting on. Like a sound bubble that only goes as high as the center of the tv. I think if I crank it up it will sound like as if rain was falling from above. There was this one demo on youtube, when the sound of thunder was present, that's about the only part that sounded like it was all around you. For a split second. Not everything is going to sound the same. It all depends on what you are watching and what source. Some content will sound like your rear speakers are not on. While others sound like it fills the area where your setup is. Some music sounds beautiful. The speakers do a great job at distributing the sound from the center to the rear speakers. I don't like gaming with it. It's terrible for me. But I've been wearing headphones for gaming for about a year which is probably why I prefer them. Movies are great on this sound bar. It gets loud and clear. The sub is good but not great. There was a scene i. A James Bond movie where Bond was in an airplane having a conversation with Mathis. It was a quieter scene. You can hear the sound of the engines from the plane. But the sub at that part was making a rumbling sound that didn't quite fit the scene. It interfered with the speech. But it is somewhat powerful. I have had problems with it. Some of the same problems as other people have. But adter like two weeks of having it the sound bar stopped being problematic. It functions almost flawless. This sound bar was worth it for me at $300. I would not pay more for it. It does sound like a mini theater with the right content. For my first sound bar, I am happy with it.

I did the same thing at Walmart, but could only get the Black web and Visio to work. The Black web was very disappointing. I mean I could expect not the best sound for the price, but seriously! I have a bluetooth speaker that sounds better than that thing. I am shopping for a soundbar and I'm impressed with the sound and value of Visio. The only issues I've heard about them in general in reviews is syncing issues. I'm hoping I don't experience that. Gonna get one!!

Hi kpaceguy! I want to point out a few things... First of all, congrats on you channel! I've been fallowing your videos and I really enjoy your content. Second... I agree with you, the vizio is the best of the five, but the samsung sounds extremely different when it's hook to a tv with the DTS neo or Dolby setting. With that setting the sound bar hears a lot louder and with deeper bass. I had both of these sound bars (the vizio and the samsung). I returned the vizio because that small sub started to distort on some bass notes when the volume was higher than the 50%. Whenever I was using it, I always got the feeling that the small sub will brake and I end up exchange it with the samsung. The samsung gets a lot louder with dts neo setting and it does not distort. But still, the vizio sound bar had deeper bass than the samsung and I miss it. The only thing that makes me feel good of my purchase is that I know the samsung wont break up on me.

Seriously, an entry level Home Theater receiver would likely give you a better decode of the full selection of Dolby & DTS codecs that a Blu-Ray contains. I would rather spend that $240 towards that and some quality bookshelf speakers. If your source is wired with RCA, Optical or HDMI it will also determine the bandwidth of audio being pumped into those speakers. These details matter.

Just replaced (yesterday) my Samsung q67blah system with intermittent little rear speakers and Arc connections that worked some days and not others, with a Vizio 5.1 system, with sub woofer and 2 little speakers with plug connections not loose wire connections like the Samsung. The Visio worked and sounds SSSSoooooo much better than the Samsung. It was way less $$ than the Samsung as well. It connected up with the TV's Arc connection with no stupidity. Sounds great, easy to control...... Word of advice for connecting things: Make sure the CEC on the TV is setup correctly or your Arc connection will not work right. (except for the Samsung sound, which works only when it feels like working)

I picked up a home theater vizio 5.1 sound bar system 5+ years back. It was only $149 and we were all blown away how good the sound quality is. I got it for my dad he's always tinkering with receivers, giant subs, giant speakers, etc. The vizio was way better than his setup and he probably spent thousands on it (his stuff are over 15-20 years old bear in mind). He doesn't even use those anymore.

I'm an audiophile and I hate soundbars. Though really the only thing you can do is hook up an equalizer, like a 12 band eq and try your best to set the sound. Also if you have treble and bass controls built in, try those first. Hope this help's. I'd say save your money and buy a pair of pc speakers with a subwoofer and bass and treble controls. Also make sure the satelite speakers have a tweeter. All these soundbar's mainly have none only the fullrange driver's and that's why they sound bad. "SOUNDBARS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW AUDIO, AND WILL WASTE THEIR MONEY BUYING SOMETHING LIKE THIS BECAUSE THE ADVERTISING SAYS ITS THE BEST YOU CAN HAVE AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE" I'd say do your research on the companies and their product's and not go by people's review's. There is that saying "Go for what you know..."

I have a vizio sound bar on my 55 inch and just bought a onn brand with wireless subwoofer for my new vizio 60 inch, i was nervous about the purchase but let me tell you, the onn set up has a crisp/clear cinematic sound and the base is nice. This video shows nothing because instore displays are limited because the venders set them up, not the store. The displays gives you an idea what they sound like, but you need to adjust it and it can depend on the adjustability on the tv. My set up i have is very nice.

I have a very small TCL Alto 3 soundbar, that I got on Walmart very cheap so I didn't expect much, the only thing I was expecting is that it sound better than my bedroom 43 inch tv,speakers but once I connect that humble and " price " soundbar I was blown away the box said " home theater " which means the effect or the sensation of a home theater, but I disregard that as marketing mumbo jumbo and nothing more, but to my surprise that little thing deliver on that front to,sometimes I heard the sound coming from the left or right like the home theater I got on the living room,of course it didnt sound as good but the home theater " effect " was there and I keep asking to myself and maybe you can answer this, just how such a little thing and a 2.0 of all things can produce the Home theater " effect" when bigger more expensive and with more channels sometimes struggles to do that effect???

Some sound bar is definitely better than others, but I have never heard one that compares to a dedicated 5.1 system. I picked up a Denon receiver from accessories for last for $140, added in some Dayton speakers and a mono price 8 inch sub for my sister. The whole system cost me less than $300 and sounds pretty amazing for the price! would never buy another Sound bar!

Ian Peck people who don't care about sound just want better amplification from their TVs. And I've made sure to say that in all my sound bar videos. If you want good sound don't go this route. If you don't care and just want to upgrade from the TV, these are for you. People who buy these my also want good sound but like the small package. The idea behind this video is to inform that these may fall into the small package category but not good sound

  • @MrWirelesscaller

Unless you're testing each time with the same source calibrated at the same level then the sound is too subjective. If you notice Bose has a contract such that no matter what business you test their products at it will never be connected to the same source therefore you can't even try an apple to apple comparison unless you go to a high end audio store that has setup demos to show how truly poor Bose products are (notice Bose has no DD, DTS, THX, or any certifications from any professional sound mixing companies). A big store like Walmart would be very hard to compare sounds since most soundbars aren't designed to fill such a large area properly.

I got the $250 Vizio sound bar for $160 on rollback. Got to love that Walmart!
since he deleted my comment about him not knowing anything about sound systems when I said that he's a fool when he says you can't get five channel surround sound out of a 2.1 or 3.1 soundbar system, I'll post it again. You're not going to miss out on the channels that you don't have, there's simply playing through the two speakers that you do have.
5 channel signals will play through two speakers that you have. it's not going to go through five individual speakers obviously but the sound signal will go to the two speakers that you do have.
Just another idiot posting comments about technical stuff he knows nothing about.
I have the 32in Vizio sound bar with subwoofer and rear satellite speakers and it sounds great. the sound is crisp and clear, and the bass will blow you out of the room. I have a very spacious living room and it's more than enough at halfway.
The only thing that I did't like is the satellite speakers play ambient noise, not vocals. In other words, you're hearing waterfalls and birds chirping and wind blowing, stuff like that. Your not typically hearing things people are saying, unless people are talking off screen in the background.
So to counter that I took the faceplate off of the soundbar, took the center speaker out, attached a set of speaker wire to the existing wire running to the center speaker, ran the wire to the back of my living room and connected a second center channel speaker in the rear between my satellite speakers and now it sounds perfect. Out of the box it kind of sounded like everything was coming from the front, because you're hearing more vocals from the soundbar than you are ambient noise out of the satellite speakers. But now it all balances out, it fills the room. And the nice part about adding a second speaker to the center channel is you have the ability with the remote to raise and lower the volume of the center channel speaker. So now I'm able to raise and lower the volume of the rear center channel speaker and can get it to just the right level, as opposed to it playing at the same volume as the front speakers and it being too loud since it's closer to you, which would drown out your satellite speakers and you'd be hearing more from your rear center speaker than anything else. so having the ability with the remote to raise and lower the center channel speaker worked out perfect for this installation. Granite you can't raise and lower the front and rear center speakers individually like with a 7 channel surround sound system.
But I think it worked out perfectly.
I'm no professional electrician or anything like that either, that's how easy it was to do. Basically I added another speaker to the existing 5.1 speakers and made a 6.1 surround sound system. Front left and right, a front center channel, a rear center channel, 2 surround speakers and the subwoofer = 6.1
Hope this comment helps some of you
