    I wish you'd do a build video. Awesome building and design skill. Thanks for sharing.

    Amazing!! Thank you for sharing, I can't believe getting a glider back after a flight like that.

    This epic flight is hypnotic. Can't stop watching it again and again. Outstanding flight and camera work.

    This is a great video! An amazing testimony to your building skill, your theory of flight skills, your trimming skills and it's just damn entertaining for an airplane nut like me. Great job!

    Could you maybe make a tutorial for this? It would help quite a bit. Thanks

      I'll try and put some more in the next posting Alejandro. It's a pretty simple construction method and lots of fun to fly. Thank you.

      @@tross1964 thanks for replying so quickly! Just one more thing. Could this also work if it was made out of styrofoam? Thanks

    • @tross1964
      @tross1964  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alejandropianist6466 as long as it's sturdy enough to take a launch I wouldn't see why you couldn't. Is foam your preferred material?

    • @alejandropianist6466
      @alejandropianist6466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tross1964 it’s the only material I have an abundance of at home 😅

    • @tross1964
      @tross1964  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alejandropianist6466 I understand. We would need to reinforce with something if the foam isn't strong enough maybe carbon fiber. The newer jets would be better suited maybe, as it's hard to get balsa light enough for the wing plan form. F16, F18, or the like. Smaller gliders say 8" WS. Mine weigh 7.5 grams but I really need them to weigh 6.5 grams. So developing foam could be awesome.

    How much weight would a altimeter / GPS package add. it would be nice to see how high they get

    • @tross1964
      @tross1964  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marty thank you. I'm not sure how much a unit would weigh. The glider can be build lighter and could probably handle 5 grams or about. It would be cool. I have many flights that get way up there and end up too far away to video.

  • @MartyLJ57
    @MartyLJ57 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would a DT putt a dampen on the height you got on this flight.

    • @tross1964
      @tross1964  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe if the nose popped off with a string attached behind the cg to drag it down. I lose a lot of gliders.

  • @paulbizard3493
    @paulbizard3493 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Impressive! Your gliders fly on a rail. Did you carefully design your airfoil or is it a kinda sort of airfoil?

    • @tross1964
      @tross1964  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Paul. The airfoils are developed in xfoil. There is a screen shot of one example at the 12 sec mark in this video th-cam.com/video/nGxd0352ZEY/w-d-xo.html. I have several to choose from, but most generally it is decided by optimum % camber, and a % thickness that would result in 0.1" at the root.

    • @paulbizard3493
      @paulbizard3493 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tross1964 I think your models fly really well, certainly due to the airfoil you have designed (I also sometimes play with XFLR5/XFOIL). Your models have a poor aspect ratio (fighters), but they have nonetheless an outstanding performance.
      Maybe should you draw a simple plan with building instructions and send it to Outerzone? Just a thought. Thumbs up.

      @tross1964  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulbizard3493 thank you for the comments. Dead on poor AR. These fighters are a challenge. A simple plan with instructions I could probably do that.
