What a great guy is Herbie Hancock! He has been married to the same woman since 1968 (Herbie seems to be in things, like marriage and car ownership, for the long haul!), he holds degrees in music AND electrical engineering, has been an innovator in music from the early days of his career, looks about half his age and seems like a thoroughly nice man.

One of my favorite car stories so far. I earned my 1st car sand blasting an MG that looked just like that but had a different grill. My dad built a box of plywood around the car and made me climb in with a sandblaster and I did a great job. I got stuff in my eyes and it sucked lol. But it was my neighbors car and that's how I earned my 1st car and it was cool to help make his car restored. It took a few years like 7 but in the end it was like a new car. Jack you owe me a ride at least lol. He was the best neighbor ever. It moved away but still have very fond memories of what we created in our backyards.

I had kind of the same experience. Went to a car dealer with my daughter and my shorts and flip flop on and the salesman didn't grace me even with a look of attention. He was too busy with an apparently older and more acquainted customer. After 15 minutes of not even "Hello sir, I'll be right at you" I left the dealership, went to another, bought a 65K car and was sure to let the initial seller know what the result of their salesmanship was. Roughly a year later they were out of business.

Back in the day, Cobras used to tour Ford dealerships. I recall the excitement when one arrived at my local dealer. My Dad and I made a special trip to take a look. I was given chamois so I could touch it without leaving fingerprints. A happy memory and a highlight of my early teens. 🙂

A real rare 260 cubic inch 2 barrel carburetor version. Also with the antiquated worm and sector steering.

Haha, I read Herbie's biography Possibilities, I think he said in that he was think of buying something practical, like a station wagon but his friend told him about the Cobra. I can image the Cobra has its downsides at first, especially in the winter!

I would never have imagined that the great Herbie Hancock could get any cooler until seeing him in his cobra. Wow I've listened to his music since I was a kid and I never knew he owned a Cobra. Herbie in a Cobra is just too cool for words love it !

I was 7 years old when “Rockit” was on MTV, my parents didn’t understand it, but it was one of my favorites. I’m not proud to admit that I thought Herbie was a one hit wonder, clearly I was wrong, I’m gonna check out more of his music.

Haha wow...a true American icon, globally-renowned. The word "legendary" can't even begin to describe this man's artistry and body of work. I wish I could hear all that stuff for the first time again! But I listen to him ALL the time anyway and it never gets old. And I haven't even heard "Rockit" in years!

"Get rid of it... Because it's dangerous!" Man this was incredible!! I had no idea that Herbie Hancock had a Cobra or even loved fast cars!! That Miles Davis story had me grinning from ear to ear :-) For years when I heard his name, all I could think of was "Rock It". Now I'll think about this video :-)

I missed seeing Herbie in Cork by a day. The box office lady said it was the best show she had ever seen. He played over two hours extra because he and the band and the audience were having such a great time.
Did get front row tickets to see Omar Sosa though. His performance was the best I have ever seen.

Hey, maaan! This is already an video and yet it is my first time seeing it. This to me is the coolest thing I ever seen on any TH-cam or internet channel. Two of the coolest human beings on earth! A legendary comedian and talk-show host, and a legendary jazz, pop, and r&b song writer, producer, Oscar and multi- Grammy winning musical genius!!, riding around in a classic '63 AC Cobra! Just simply too damned cool!

Thanks Jay, feel like I just met Herbie Hancock and had a beer with him! 🎼🎹

What a fantastic person. We are so lucky that he has been the caretaker of it. and what a person who fame and fortune dose not seem to be currupted (spellcheck could not figure out the word, LOL,) by his fame. the car could have easily been sold or cast aside in favor of something new. thanks for sharing this moment...Fantastic!

Only Jay Vid I've Seen Where He Didn't Drive. Except the Hemi Under Glass one where Bob Riggle rolls it. Sorry Herbie, Love ya man, but that is the most under powered Cobra ever made. Nice it's still worth so much. Peace Man ✌️😎👍
