Mark Knopfler, one of the greatest guitarist of all time just having some fun!
Mark is rated at number 27 out of 100 best guitarist by Rolling Stone magazine. I personally think he is the best

@@mikaeldk5700 thank you for your reply and I don’t really know much myself about that list. It is just something I heard on TH-cam and yesterday on something and I think it was called Mojo had marked down as number 19.
I also think David Gilmour is fantastic and has produced some brilliant songs and fantastic music. I also like Lindsey Buckingham very much but my favourite of all is Mark as he just makes fat guitars sound absolutely beautiful anyway thanks

It pleases me hugely that a whole new generation of people are experiencing the genius of Mark Knopfler for the first time. He developed a unique tonality to his playing and had that rare combination of being able to play fast but also very slowly with feeling, timing and subtelty. A beuatiful guitarist.

Mark gets plenty of credit for his consummate guitar-playing, but not nearly the recognition he deserves. He is world-class and makes it look absolutely effortless. Props to, at the time the new drummer, Terry Williams who replaced the original drummer, Pick Withers. His drumming is spectacular without taking the spotlight away from Knopfler. All good wishes to you gents, and to Dire Straits for an epic, epic performance of this legendary tune.

Dire Straits are proper proper musicians and their level of performance is on a different scale. They are without doubt one of the greatest bands ever and marketing lead guitarist is rated at number 27 is best in the world at the guitar and his technique is absolutely incredible. Mark is totally a musical genius and works to perfection. I had the privilege of seeing them live in England a few years ago now and it was an absolute adventure.When is the great things about this band is you never know what to expect but always expect the unexpected and it is truly remarkable. Please continue on your journey with this incredible band and I don’t think there is ever been another band like them they were definitely a one off. Thank you
This song has a bit of everything it's rock and good dance music, the musicians are top class and the overall sound in my opinion has never been equaled, I have never tired of Dire Straits, thanks for appreciating them. 🎸🎸

This was filmed in July 1983 at Hammersmith Odeon, London.
I was there on the balcony, I was 18 and it was amazing, but I didn't realise how amazing at the time.
The place was rocking, the band were brilliant as you could see.
We knew Mark Mark Knopfler on lead guitar and vocals would be out standing as were Hal Lindes on the other guitar and John Isley, with Alan Clarke on keyboards were as expected. Superb, but the musician who had us amazed was Terry Williams on the drums, world class.

I have always loved Marks finger picking as he can get so fast plus make unusual sounds.
Also love the piano player as he's and important part of their music, not just someone tucked away in the back corner but his piano playing tied all the group together.

I agree Mark is truly a genius
I've seen at least 5 reaction vids on this tune. NONE of them has reviewed the full, original track. At least this live version has a creative solo. But the version that made this tune a hit is the original studio track, with _The Solo_ that two generations of aspiring guitarists have tried to learn. There's another video version on YT that has the original audio track dubbed onto it... but they fade it out before the main solo - aaaargh!! ~:^E Anyway, do yourself a favour and check out the full audio studio track version.

2 interesting facts.
1. Mark Knopfler is actually LEFT HANDED playing a RIGHT HANDED guitar
2. On the 2nd and main guitar solo from Mark listen carefully to the drummer Terry Williams. He is actually playing the guitar solo note for note on the drums. Mark notices this and turns to him smiling and Terry starts bopping along.

This is one of the greatest performances ever from anyone, next you should react to Tunnel of Love from the Alchemy concert next, the same concert as this one.

A good rock band, with a good flow and a good song can do a breakdown like no other artist... I mean every artist in every style can do a breakdown... but it's an art still.
