To represent the 45 million people trapped in modern day slavery 45 STUDENTS OF CHISIPITE SENIOR SCHOOL IN HARARE, ZIMBABWE will depict scenes in which children are trapped by cultural, social and economic systems.
These scenes will take place in a 3 x 1,5 m perspex box, representing a metaphorical trapping.
Playing for 45 minutes, the length of time that the students are standing shoulder to shoulder in the box, will be a soundscape of the lifestyle so many children in Zimbabwe endure.
At the end of the 45 minutes we will file out of the box and speak directly to the camera about our thoughts on freedom and this form of slavery.
Our aim is to bring awareness to the issue that a lack of education = a lack of freedom.
Children vending, hustling, heading households and being forced into early marriages needs to stop.
