Happy New Year 2021 Gilbert!! Wow, 20 years ago already. Perfect 20 year anniversary and a great time to compare 2001 to 2021. Both were futuristic numbers, but both make for exciting comparisons.
Look at how things look at the start of 2001 compared to how they look at the start of 2021, man it look WAYYYYY different, makes you think how far technology has come since then as well. It's literally like looking at the world through different lens.

Most people don't know that the 21th century and the new millennium actually started on january 1 2001. Not 2000. Centuries and millenniums don't start on the year that end with 00. The year 2000 was still technically the 20th century. All that new millennium hype in 1999 was one year too early.
@@WitchettyMan, And since time is arbitrary anyways, it's not wrong to celebrate in the 00 year or the 01 year since it wouldn't matter anyways since at the end of the day it's just a number. And it also wouldn't matter if there's no year 0 in the calendar era either since calendars are arbitrary anyways so at any time and any day we can add a year 0 into the calendar and say that centuries start in the 00 year. With that being said however it still doesn't change the fact that even though other systems have a year 0 like astronomical year numbering (AYN), and the Hindu and Buddhist year numbering systems because years are numbered cardinally (0, 1, 2, 3, etc) and as for AYN the 2000s century started in 2000 and will end in 2099, the AD system on the other hand doesn't. Even though A century did start in 2000 it being the 2000s century or any year that ends in 20 (even though that is not the real year calendar century), and if you're an astronomer the latter could've been the start of the new century for you, THE new calendar century of the AD era the 21st century had and will always had to had been started in 2001 due to the ordinal tendencies (first, second, third, fourth, etc) of numbering years in the AD era. The 21st century as a result started in 2001 (the first year) and will end in 2100 (the one-hundredth and final year of the 21st century). Still though due to round number bias (or the human fascination and tendencies to focus on round numbers), the odometer effect (the rolling over from 9s to 0s in a number), and language, the year 2000 was still a treat to see happening even if the 21st century wasn't going to start for another year or so.

2001 was an emotional year. One of my friends died of cancer.
