A head full of conflicts, fears and desires. The fear of intimacy, the fear of surrender. The availability to dream, to fulfill one's desires. The romantic idealization of the relationship, of contact. And, at the same time, the naked reality, cruel and raw. Very good! Liked it!

Great visualisations! It is so precise with complex feelings and dynamic of gay relationships. I keep watching this over and over. Every detail is so packed, it'd take greater than I to ever unpack it all. Good story and great twist. I think the second encounter, while a terrible experience, helped the main character understand that he is not alone in trying to deal with the often traumatic issues of coming out and accepting who you are. In the long run it strengthened his own self-realisation. Hence the smile at the end. He can deal with it all now.

I took it to be about the main guy having difficulty actually fully responding to his gay feelings. The second guy was even further behind in the coming out stage, he was obviously curious and liked the main guy. So when they kissed and I assume they did coz he had the marks to prove it, the second guy went all weird and funny feeling that he’d just been outed. He reacted in a very primitive manner and lashed out. Having learned a lesson the main guy lived to tell another tale and was actually looking forward to the future?
This movie is bollocks. What is even happening with character development or the plot. He doesn't even talk for half the movie. And then this guy headbutts him after a long dream sequence of them making out and no explanation about what the hell is even going on with him. This script needs a rewrite. The visuals are gorgeous but what the hell is going on here?!
Okay, well, somebody has to give a less-than-glowing review, and I guess it's my turn. The acting, such as it was, was good. Plot: The plot was pretty simple and common, as are the plots in almost all gay movies due to our community's general inability to think in paragraphs and string more than five short scenes together. Characters: The archtypes were, well, archtypes. We saw the typical lesbian surrogate mother lovingly fawning over the angel-faced near-virgin. The lead was very drool-worthy (a beady-eyed fellow with an overbite would never do). There were loads of time spent without a shirt. And, in Irish gay movies, the obligatory trembling hesitation due to the pain of mortal sin (or at least a good five years bending over for Bubba in Purgatory) was present but not nagging. Scenery: There's always got to be an alley. And there's ALWAYS got to be a club scene with a lot of prissy self-absorbed, attitude-showing, testosterone-deprived, young gay guys barely bouncing and looking bored. One look at them results in, "Yup, gay alright." And, of course we had that looooooong period of glaring (or was it a short period but in slow motion?) that, regardless of the club music used, conjures in the mind Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake"... or maybe Karen Carpenter's "Close to You." The best part about this film was that it wasn't too whiney. So many gay "art" films are whiney. Lots of victimhood. This film would have made a better painting than a film, but there are good things to be said about it: At least it wasn't porno, had no flaming queens wiggling and sacheting to and fro seductively, no unsuccessful attempts at humor, and no characters saying, "Oh, my boyfriend left me after two whole months! What will I do? Where will I live? I want to die!" There wasn't the archtypical cruel father and mother who disown their child and kick him out, forcing him to roam the highways through cornfields looking for shirtless truckers with big bulges. And there was no church concentration camp, horny priests, or lonely football players looking for someone to love. So really, the best thing about this film was what wasn't in it and the worst thing about the film was what was."
@@jeffgumer3784 I know. I'm gay, but even I must admit that most of the gay "art" films are just garbage. Gay films and literature used to be a lot better when we were still closetted LOL. When people are being themselves it lends itself to people being real and they are interesting in how they resonate with the rest of the world so to me that is how we are all interesting in our own ways.

Coming out and accepting yourself is confusing for a lot of people, especially men. You carry a lot of baggage of the straight world you grew up in. There is a struggle with self hatred and eventually self acceptance and love of oneself. When a guy who first came out, their perception is that being gay is all about sex. That's why when he first met the guy in the opening, the other guy wants to know him go for a drink and get to know each other, like a straight date. He went straight (opening scene) to grab the other guy's hand to grab his crotch. In the LGBTQ community, we called these guys in the process of coming out NEWBIES. We usually avoided them like the plaque, a lot of emotional baggage, i.e. religious backgrounds, in the process of coming out to friends and families which can be traumatic, struggle of self acceptance and love, fear of being perceived as less than manly. That is why in the beginning he struggles to kiss another man, because of social upbringing. Men are not suppose to kiss another man, etc. That could explain why the guy butt-headed, "Oh shit I'm not Gay". The same reason he refused to kiss the guy in the alley. Coming out is life changing experience, you have to assess a lot of things whether your friends and families will accept you.
Did they make a longer movie and the editor cut out the important parts? Even if I try to fill in the mountain of holes in this story, it still wouldn't make sense.
This guy has some serious issues. With the first guy, he’s impatient, pulls him close to him, puts the guy’s hand on his crotch and then withdraws refusing his advances to kiss him. His game is called “come here-go away”. Just leads to confusion. The second guy in the club he imagines he is kissing him, then suddenly they are actually kissing. The second guy acts like he suddenly woke up and found himself kissing the other guy, feeling like “what happened - how did this start?” and then head-butts him. Different things going on. Don’t know what is trying to be portrayed.
Same Here man. I miss going out so much, a few drinks, dancing, forgetting about the hard work week, locking eyes (or lips) with a cutie across the bar. Ah the good ole days. Hopefully live will get back to the Old Normal next year.

The process of coming out. It's a difficult process for most people, you deal with your own denial, maybe you compartmentalize sex acts and affection, so you can get off and somehow still cling to what you thought you knew about yourself. When that's gone, you deal with everyone else, maybe you want to be perceived the same as before but when you come out suddenly that's not in your hands anymore, everyone will contextualize and second guess according to a certain amount of baggage that comes with being different. And that's not nearly the end of it.
I did that, I liked it for couple of months, now been here 5 years, I simply cant anymore, but I learned a lot about myself, I mostly connected with Brazilians. Irish- yes theyre friendly but mostly in their cliques, they have their jokes which I dont find funny, theyre very simpleminded, guys are undateable, as a foreign they cant take you seriously, they think youre just an exotic f..k to have, and also I cant take them seriously when they start talking nonsense, overall, not very peachy experience for me, but im glad I did it. of course this is just my experience and opinion, yours can be completely different. So yes, no Irish man for me, I was hopeful, but I didnt come true, this place isnt for me. But I was the same, imagining like its in the movies; a nice hot ginger lad whos gonna sweep me of my feet, overall I had enough, I feel like im wasting time here. Im most likely going to Canada after winter, been there before I like it better than here. And to you, good luck, hope you find here what I didnt

A moment of confusion? Damn.
What the bloody hell was this?
I didn’t understand the ending!
WTF?!?!?!
Prove me wrong but something is missing here not just one 😔
I like the last time 😵
What a strange movie, interesting, different, not sure that I really get it. Why is he smiling at the end after such a bad encounter? This offers a different take on gay self acceptance.
Wish they would keep girls out of my 66 yrs very successful blissfully happy homosexual life style.

This is truth
Maybe it's just me but I really don't know what is it all about.

I loved how colorful and twisted this was. I have to go to Ireland, I just have to. Belton is a real babe. 🥵

That was nuts, why in the world did that guy head bump him, don't get it.
Because they were in public. In the men's room he would have gone down on his knees, whereas in the middle of the dance floor he was basically outed, he panicked, and felt compelled to put up a front and go full heterosexual caveman.
MÉXICO IS ON ...
The club ending was .. strange.
Ja well no fine. all that energy wasted on this
