@@gideonparry5684 Actually it did. During the montage in the film with "Take me out to the ballgame" playing, there were a couple road games shown. When the angel helped Ben Williams catch a ball through the wall. And that game against the Yankees when they had a triple play.
Technically they did, because all of the interior baseball scenes for Anaheim Stadium were actually shot at the Oakland- Alameda County Coliseum!
When they wore the gray jerseys, those were road games...

Even weirder considering that this movie was an Oakland A's fans' paradise turned nightmare! They shot all the Angels games not in Anaheim Stadium, but in Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco's house, the Oakland Coliseum !

So Angels in the Outfield, Rookie of the Year, Happy Gilmore, Air Bud, and Space Jam were all set in the same universe. So sports beat Marvel to it with the Sports Cinematic Universe.
They need to do one of Major League. They could tell it like that of the legend of Wild Thing ha, Charlie Sheen's character and would be great to have actor Charlie sheen talk about his career...He could add in how he got that zip to his pitch from Tiger blood infused in him

Don't forget the Mighty Ducks. While it wasn't mentioned in this episode, they definitely are in the same universe as the Angels, since Disney owned both teams at one point.

Wait, this documentary covers the 1994 season of the California Angels, but doesn't make any comparison or comment about the 1951 season of the Pittsburgh Pirates? That season was crazy too, and something weird was happening... their manager Guffy McGovern, who swore a lot, for some reason stopped swearing in that season. And pitcher Saul Hellman, who was near retirement, makes one of the most amazing comebacks in Baseball history! Their explanation? Angels. Just like in 94... coincidence? I think not!
None of us were alive for the 1951 season.

While this was different than the usual, straightfoward humor of college humor. I actually thought it was pretty good satire of all those sports documentaries you see, and the Rookie of the Year cameo was appreciated haha

I like how other baseball and sports movies are included in this. 1994 Mel Clark, 1993 Henry Rowengartner, 1989 Rick Vaughn.. they should've included the kid managing the Twins in Little Big League too lol
Damn PED hearings totally overshadowed that Mel Clark tragically passed away just 6 months after this miraculous comeback.
And the fact that his lookalike who was suspected to be his twin brother was a garbage man playing kicker for the Eagles in 1999.
Mel Clark didn't pass away. He wound up becoming a garbage picking, field goal kicking Philadelphia phenomenon.
Absolutely genius skit. Even down to a grown up JP. Only wish we'd heard from more of the cast.
As a person who watched Angels in the Outfield *a lot* as a kid, this is incredible. So great to relive some of these moments, from a completely different perspective. Well done!

Despite the year of the film's release, I'm pretty sure it was meant to take place in 1993 instead of 1994. Even ignoring the strike that cut the '94 season short and cancelled the playoffs that year (which the filmmakers couldn't have seen coming), the film uses the previous AL West division rather than the realignment instituted beginning in '94. Furthermore, it's more believable (at least relatively speaking) that Mel Clark made a comeback after 3 1/2 seasons on the disabled list instead of 4 1/2. (Speaking of which, why is there no mention of Clark's tragic death the following spring?)
