I used continuous flexible magnetic strip... required more sewing but the idea works great! ...also keeps spiders and other insects out

Nice! How is the holding power? I never tried it and went right to the neodymium magnets because they're insanely strong and I knew they'd work for sure, but I'm definitely curious about your magnetic strip.
