Another new composer to me , who was parallel to Beethoven , but stayed in Classical rather than Romantic, which Beethoven and Schubert followed. Alexander stayed with the Haydn late symphony mode. ❤it
It is said that a nobleman visited Nathan Rothschild to ask for a loan. Rothschild didn't look up when his visitor entered and simply said "Take a seat". The outraged visitor said "You are talking to the Prince of Thurn und Taxis", to which Rothschild replied, still without looking up "In that case, take two seats." Probably the composer's son or grandson.
Very beautiful symphony, thank you, Pau. The Thurn und Taxis family was a patron of music. Its Hofkapelle (Court Chapel) brought together many composers, such Theodor von Schacht, Touchemoulin or Pokorny and many others. On the other hand, I did not know that Karl Alexander had composed such a beautiful symphony.
As an amateur .... Chapeau: well written! He must have had good teachers, at least as good as Friedrich II teacher (Quantz).... So .... Well educated amateur ..
It is a surprising word that even though Beethoven and Sinfonia, a composer of the same era whose birth and death years are exactly the same, the style is completely different. In contrast to Beethoven's innovative style, this composer's style is very conservative, but I think it's a sinfonia that feels good and refreshing to me.
Yes, but consider that this work was composed in 1790 by an amateur; a fact that makes a lot of difference. Beethoven's first symphony was composed in circa 1795-97 , then first performed in April of 1800; and not published until 1801.
Was it an amateur work? It's a name that suggests aristocrats as "von", so I thought it might be, but since there is a professional composer called Baron Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf, I thought that I was a professional.
Karl Ditters was born into a middle class family, and was only nobled by his patron the prince-bishop to fullfil his duties as an official, whom reaquired to be of nobility.
From the material on the composer: "It existed as a feud ... " I was at a loss: "combination"? However, good music. Princes, or their counterparts today, could not do one-tenth as well. Make that "one-thousandths".
A very worthy piece by an unknown; especially notable due to his being 20 years of age at the time he wrote this (i.e., if the date of 1790 is correct). The finale crowns the entire symphony in a delightful classical style; quite contemporaneous to the period. Overall a very good work. Thank you Pau for your devotion to the Classics. The opening Allegro could be a tad more 'Allegro con Moto' though, and there are some faint inklings (premonitions) of Beethoven's, as yet, "unwritten symphonies" ; (his "style") to be heard here. However I'll attribute that coincidentally to the shared Zeitgeist .

If politicians write wonderful music today... it would be a HUGE miracle!
Another Beethoven. I love this style.🙂

For me, this virtuose remembering me to Haydns Symphonie. Love it.
Very beautiful symphony, thank you, Pau.

I guess more amateur than pro... anyway, interesting work.
I don't think good music has anything to do with professionals or amateurs.

Cest magnifique
A most interesting symphony and particularly a special first movement! Thank you for uploading
Sinfonia gradevole, neanche tanto influenzata da Haydn, quantomai da Pleyel e Witt.
Very enjoyable! 💖

Bellissima musica, poco conosciuta. Coetaneo di Beethoven, esattamente.
Esatto!

Yes, you are right. The first movement is too slow from my perspective too. Anyway, considering this as amateur work, not bad ;-)
Nice post, Paul. What CD is this from?
