    Spraying the small contacts fixed directly to the LCD screen did the trick on my TD-12. Good as new again! Thanks so much for the video!

      Glad it helped lol. I like to randomly check this video to see if it still helps anyone :) My TD-12 4.5 years later is still visible

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. For me, I just undid the 8 screws which fix the back of the unit (6 on the underside, 2 on the sides of the unit) , disconnected the ribbon cable which connects to connector CN37 and sprayed contact cleaner into the socket. I connected and removed the cable a few times to clean the contacts and reassembled the unit. It's not perfect, but the display went from 40% functional to 95% functional and it was only 10mins work.

    but must we also remove the two small tapes that go directly to the lcd?
    these are very delicate and you risk damaging them.
    is it enough to spray the contact cleaner?
    thank you.

    THANKS @rfedeleon, re TD-12, did a Factory Reset, and the LCD was fine.
    Then did the UPDATE to v1.11 and NOW the screen flickers so much it's extremely annoying.
    Based on all of the above, do y'all think my problem is a Contact Cleaner issue?

    Thank a lot for the help. YES, spraying the "special contact" is THE secret.

    I repair this, cut off 2mm of two lcd screen connectors (only lcd) and put them again into the socket, please very careful, and cut is very line. It worked.

    Hello, thank for this film. Where find parts as a volume master potentiometer ?

    • @rfedeleon

      I don't think you can buy parts for this unit any longer. Otherwise ebay for broken modules that you can get parts from ?

    i found a used td-12 kit that sold really cheaply because of this issue. Thanks for posting the vid - i may try try this, though once the unit heats up, the screen becomes decent enough.
    Question: any tips on removing the ribbon connectors? Was some strength necessary or was it just a hinge type lock? Any recommentions/info would be appreciated.
    Enjoy your music.

    • @rfedeleon
      @rfedeleon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay. You probably did this already, but I don't think I needed much strength. You are a little cautions at first but once you pull the first one out you get the feel.

    Hey will this mabey fix dead pixels on TD 10 screen. I have a couple dead lines through the screen and am loooking to repair as you have shown.

    • @rfedeleon
      @rfedeleon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm not sure for a few dead pixels. In my case the whole screen was faded out. If your screen works but just has dead pixels my guess is that it might be a different problem. But unfortunately I’m not positive

    Are the ribbons soldered in place?
    Mine wont budge.

    • @rfedeleon
      @rfedeleon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late reply I don't check my videos that much. You probably figured it out already but incase for someone else. They are not soldered into place. Just take your time pull from as close to the connection as possible. Work each side and don't be afraid to use a little more strength than you think. But they will come out...Carefully use tweezers if you can't get a grip on it but don't squeeze to hard you don't want to damage the cable.

    • @rfedeleon
      @rfedeleon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My recommendation is to open it up and spray all contacts with contact cleaner. Unfortunately I did not do a video on how to open it. I just worked slow and took pictures to make sure I put things back the way they were.

    A video of how to get that display out would be even a better help. Your video make it seem as if it popped out and you could leave everything else in place when actually it's a mini nightmare tearing the whole unit apart/ motherboard/power supply/front end ... I'm still haven't gotten to the display yet. - head explodes -

    • @rfedeleon
      @rfedeleon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah unfortunately I made the video after I got it to work. I didn't know if I was going to be successful or not so I didn't start recording until I realized it worked. It was hard to get into everything but I just remembered as I did it, if it didn't easily come off look for a screw, clip, etc...

    Giday blokes.Yeah I'm Ned..Geez u know I've tried all of the obvious connections that are related to the LCD display.i should try to upload a video of what the display on my td12 looks like.U know I'm down under in Australia so fuckknows it might have some weird effect on it.......However for want of a fair dinkum description of what's going on with the display ,it's like I can see what's written but the background is turned on and there is a predominant rectangle section running across the top of the display that's showing light dark grey and it gets darker towards the right side of the screen.The contrast setting is on about 11
