30 days caffeine free , I feel amazing. I sleep so good and my mood is stable, energy is elevated. Caffeine is a real drug that cause anxiety and stress . It’s toxic .
I am a teacher and subscribed to your channel on Thursday. I watched your videos about Google Classroom and fav apps while running on my treadmill as I’m currently training for a half marathon. I was super pumped to see your vlogs about your marathon training- way to go!! Mostly, I want to say that I am very grateful for your channel and you have very kind and encouraging approach. Keep up the great work!
I’ve tried cutting caffeine before for a few days and...let’s just say my husband doesn’t let us go completely Diet Pepsi free. He makes sure there is some in the house because he says it’s not something he’s willing to go through with me not having the caffeine.
Me too! I am addicted to pepsi max, ill admit it 😂 I eat relatively healthy, exercise for 30 mins a day and try my best to be healthy (not by any means a health finatic) but the one thing I will not give up is pepsi max. I deserve it 😂
You're stronger than I am! Never ever would I deal with the caffeine headaches VOLUNTARILY. Me and my caffeine demons are very much in it together for the long haul. :)
Watching this as I'm drinking my morning coffee. :-) I can't do the no coffee I just like the taste so much! I did cut out the sugar I use to put in it and almost cut out the cream too. I'm trying to get to just drinking black coffee. I do only drink one cup too so I figure that's not too bad.
I love watching your channel and often recommend it to friends in the teaching world like me. I would like to start my own one about teaching as I love what I do and would like to be brave like you in sharing some advice and ideas. I was trying to think of a challenge you could do in all the current chaos that you don't normally do. I think you have a very thoughtful partner and I know you appreciate him as you always have such a lovely way of speaking about him. My challenge is for you would be to cook dinner for you two every night for a month as your partner often does this for you during your hectic schedule and it could be a fun way for you to find something you might really love and explore or at the very least just a kind gesture for a month.
Michelle, I'm a fourth grade teacher here in Kissimmee, Florida. Love your videos and glasses. I chose a pair exactly like yours and will go buy them when things return to normal. Hugs!!
You are so much like me! I need to cut out my caffeine intake, too. I love your April challenge. I was going to suggest you take up playing the uke. It's such a happy and easy to play instrument. Thank you for posting. I hope you continue.
I finished the no caffeine challenge too! It was easier for me because I was in final race prep for my home 10k at the end of the March (thanks Coronavirus), but I had the caffeine withdrawal headaches and it was not fun. I absolutely love what you are doing for the monthly challenge in April of writing to a student everyday! It’s more personal and may be the only positive thing that a student sees from the outside. It brings home the point of building that relationship with not only the student but with their family. I’ve got a good challenge for you and that is find a way to workout everyday without going to a gym (I’m doing that this month)!
The caffeine head is real. I stopped drinking coffee about 3 months ago and that first week was awful. I miss drinking coffee because I loved the taste. I now will drink caffeine free hot tea to help when I want something hot in the morning. Never drank much soda, and If I do it is ginger ale.
I did this with no coffee in the morning for a month just to see if I could! I found it was more habitual for me than an actual need especially by replacing my coffee with water once my kiddos were in the classroom I felt just as energized as I normally would (unless I had a particularly bad night of sleep) because it was such a normal routine for me.
I understand totally what you were going through because I loved soda too. I started drinking Poland Spring Sparkling Water with flavors. It gave me carbonation I was craving, no caffeine, and hydration. There are tons of flavors. My personal favorite is Blood Orange Hibiscus
This is random but I think it would be so neat if you rated all your challenges in order from hardest to easiest and another list of favorite to least favorite because I think it would be interesting 🤣 I did the waking up at 5am daily challenge (except weekends) and I LOVED it. I had to put my alarm clock out in the hallway to wake up but I DID IT!!! I felt so accomplished. I woke up naturally on the weekends earlier too. I also did the leaving school on time (teachers are done at 4:00 but I gave myself some grace and did 4:30) and found that one to be hard to do but very worth the effort. I look forward to doing those two again at the start of next school year. Thanks for the inspiration always! ❣️
In 2016 my new years resolution was to drink ONLY water. No soda, no hot chocolate, no juice, just all water all the time. I was just like you, I didn’t like water, until 2016! Now Im such a water lover and it has greatly benefited my life! Give it a try for a month!!
And this folks is why I only drink water (my grandfather worked for a Coca Cola plant and spilled some disturbing secrets about soda so I never drink any) and I only have coffee occasionally (like once every 2-3 months as a treat).
I’ve had brutal migraines that I had to go to the hospital for it but I do remember the doctor telling me that caffeine helps with migraines or at least not drinking enough caffeine some medicines contain caffeine like Excedrin and also if you don’t drink enough water that could cause a migraine too. Not sure if this is true or not but I also hurt my ankle I twisted it really bad from falling in a hole in the small hole luckily I did not break any bones however I had a doctor also told me that that could cause migraines The doctor expressed and explain that because of the impact and shift/ unbalance of the spine can cause a shift up all the way through the entire spine causing or triggering a migraine
I was looking for this video! I’m so happy you posted it today! 😊 I don’t drink coffee, but I love the smell of it! I typically eat some form of chocolate everyday. I want to try to cut that out and maybe have chocolate a few times a week. I love your new challenge this month!
Lol Michelle, the title sounds so dire. "...and this is what happened..." dun dun dun! Haha, thanks for the great content anyways. I've been watching more of your videos now that we're in quarantine :)
I’m trying to cut caffeine and sugary drinks out of my diet just until my Florida trip in July. I’m so used to have a Bang energy drink 2-3 times a week or some type of sweet tea/coffee. I have heard of the caffeine headache because my mom has tried several times to cut coke out of her diet and she always complained of the headache when she went to long without one so she would cave in and drink one. That’s what I’m afraid of happening to me. But I know I need to cut them out of diet just until I lose all this water weight/ bloating I want to loose before our trip.
I love your challenges!! You're choosing the exact ones that I SHOULD be challenging myself to do. I'm not a morning person, I can never manage to leave work right after school and although I'm not a coffee drinker, I do drink too much diet pepsi.
As you can probably tell from my user name, I could NEVER do this- I drink 5 cups a day, have done since I was 17, and got this username from my Vice Principal in Senior year- she was new, didn't know my name, and used to call me this! Now, as a teacher, I drink coffee instead of water in the classroom, and anytime I stumble over my words, my kiddos remind me to drink more coffee XD So kudos, Michelle, but this was one month I didn't do!!!
This was really interesting. I dunno if I could do it lol. I got a Nespresso a while back, and it’s easy to overdose on caffeine like that so I did some research and thought I’d share... I think your caffeine withdrawal is due much more to your preworkout than the coffee or Diet Coke. For reference, 400mg is the upper safe limit for humans daily. Your daily cup of coffee has probably 70-100mg of caffeine. (About the same as Diet Coke.) I’d say taking away that 300 mg is what gave you the headaches.
I love these kinds of videos! I try to limit my caffeine intake to only weekdays since I’m not a morning person at all haha. Can’t wait to see the results of your next challenge :)
A big challenge I want to try (but I’m afraid) is to cut all artificial sugars, like chocolate, cookies, ice cream, etc. I think if I had someone doing it with me, I’d be motivated because I am obsessed with sweets!!!!
Ha! Good for you! I have 6-8 cups of coffee a day. I make a cup of decaf before bed.. 😜 But I do plan to use this quarantine time to dial it way back. To like two a day. I have given coffee up twice before. Both times I had three days of headaches and vomiting during the initial withdrawal stage. It was no fun. BTW, there are plenty of caffeine free teas. Rooibos for example is naturally caffeine free.
I don't drink coffee but I want to try but I don't know where to start? I don't like a strong smell or a strong taste. I just need something to drink while I do my college essay so I don't fall asleep? Any suggestions? Keep up the good work you don't need coffee.
I was concerned when you said you were giving up caffeine for a month. I knew you get migraines, so I was worried you would end up with a horrible migraine headache. I'm someone who has suffers from migraines, so I would be curious to see what would happen for me if I gave up caffeine.
I hear that after extended periods of time without caffeine you can actually have less headaches. I haven't had much research on the subject, but it might be worth it to see for yourself.
@@eleanorjones26407 I definitely will look into it. Thanks for the tip 😁! I do also recommend the "migraine piercing". I had my daith pierced about four years ago and it definitely cut my headaches in half and when I do get one I don't have as much intracranial pressure as I did before.
Can you please do a video about your migraines? I've been getting them since highschool and my doctors have always just told me to just sit in a dark room. They tell me they can't help. I get visual migraines too so I lose part of my vision when one hits. I am having a hard time pushing through school and I'm already 24 and still working on my bachelor's degree. How do you push through especially as a teacher? I admire you so much !
I couldn't do this. Especially working night shift right now, I run on coffee. When I start not sounding myself, my officers (I'm a police dispatcher) will offer to do a coffee run for me. I keep caffeine infused chocolate in my desk. Worse comes to worse I have an emergency bottle of caffeine pills at my desk. 🤣 I. Love. Caffeine.
I cannot have any caffeine because of some health issues, and my body has a severe reaction to caffeine whenever I drink it...This is just my life XD I hate it I want to have a cup of coffee every once and awhile too. I usually have decaf coffee, but its not the same. Rootbeer is my go to soda to drink when I want a soda.
I tried doing this for a month (I would only drink 1 cup a day) and I had headaches the entire month. My eyes would hurt so much I couldn’t even stand to look at screens or objects because I felt so strained. Plus I craved coffee all the time! Basically, I went back to coffee quickly after the month was over! 😂
Nichole Walker I actually have done that before when I was in college. I drank solely water for 60 days. So I know I can do it but I honestly look forward to my daily Diet Coke.
I'm a retired optician and I just noticed that you been wearing the same glasses since sometime in August of 2018. That was also about when you started wearing your glasses full time. Prior to that you weren't wearing glasses nearly as often so i assume you probably had an increase in your prescription and your glasses became more necessary for you. Good thing you look so damn good wearing glasses. Anyway as an optician you're way past due getting your eyes checked. Actually nearly 2 years now. I was able to see that you're nearsighted but I wonder if you know the technical name for being nearsighted? There's two ways of saying it actually one is to say you have "myopia" or that you're "myopic" Also are you aware that in the UK they refer to it as being "shortsighted" If you didn't know , now you do. By the way being being a teacher which for how important your job really is your considerably under paid like all teachers are. So i'm sure you probably enjoy saving money whenever possible. Some years ago several of my female opticians and optical assistants started ordering extra pairs of glasses as well as prescription sunglasses from several on-line glasses sites. As their manager I was very skeptical of these sites and I certainly didn't want my girls wearing glasses that had less than accurate prescriptions in them. So i insisted that before they wore any of the on line glasses they would allow me to check the prescriptions to be sure they weren't going to be wearing glasses that could do damage to their eyes. They agreed and I was really very surprised at how accurate the prescriptions really were in their glasses. I also couldn't help but notice the overall quality of their glasses was as good as anything we sold in our store for a good deal more money. I wrote down the names of the 3 sites I liked the best. Firmoo, Eye Buy Direct and my favorite was Zenni Optical (zenni.com) Zenni has a really nice selection of glasses for $6.95 that includes single vision prescription lenses. They have hundreds more for under $13.00. So being a young very attractive young woman I would think you enjoy having more than just one pair of glasses to wear. After all I bet you have a good number of pairs of shoes and purses so shouldn't you have more than one pair of glasses? Also I wonder if you even have prescription sunglasses? Zenni can make any regular pair you find into prescription sunglasses for just $5.00 more. It's really extremely easy to order our own glasses on line and I cane even guide you if you need any help. You only need 2 things from your doctor, one is a copy of your prescription and the other is your PD measurement. If you're wondering what that is it's the distance between your pupils in millimeters. (pupil distance) By the way have you wondered what those numbers are on the inside of the temples (arms) of your glasses? If you reply I will tell you what they mean. Have a great day and stay safe.
Jim Boice I’m pretty sure she went to the eye doctor since and just got new lenses or reordered the frames with the new lenses. I’m not 100% sure and don’t wear glasses so I’m not great with the terms but whatever
@@noramcnabb1361 Thank you for your reply. You're right, it's certainly possible that she has had her eyes checked since getting those glasses. It's possible that she didn't need a change in her glasses if there was no change in her eyesight. It's also possible that if she did need a change in glasses she only had the lenses replaced in her current frame. I really doubt the same frame was available because as an optician we hardly ever have any frames on our shelves for more than a year. And not to mention she young and quite attractive so I would think if she needed new glasses she would have wanted a new frame style as well. Remember she had apparently started wearing her glasses full time a little over a year ago. So I would think by now she would be wanting new glasses even if her prescription didn't change. Being a teacher usually means reading and grading tons of papers and often very poor penmanship, doing so much close work is most likely to increase her nearsightedness. Since you don't wear glasses you wouldn't know but excessive reading, or other types of close detailed work as well as computer work generally results in nearsightedness and not farsightedness. The opposite of what you would tend to think. I'm impressed at your knowledge about glasses considering you don't wear glasses yourself. How is that you have this knowledge if you don't mind my asking? Are you a person that maybe has always wanted to wear glasses but never needed them?
I’ve been watching you from your beginnings here on TH-cam. I was wondering if you noticed a difference in your sleep habits without any caffeine? Was it easier for you to fall asleep? Did you feel more rested?
I think you should do a “I only eat at home for a month” where you don’t eat take out at all or go to restaurants. It’ll be good quarantine content! 😉
That’s a good one. That’s what I’ve been doing since we’ve been on lockdown. I’m kinda scared to eat out now

What a great time to write your students notes. I am sure they will love it!
Great job for trying new things!
You are so much like me! I need to cut out my caffeine intake, too. I love your April challenge. I was going to suggest you take up playing the uke. It's such a happy and easy to play instrument. Thank you for posting. I hope you continue.

There are herbal teas that have absolutely no caffeine in them. This way you can still have a cup of tea without worrying about caffeine.
