I love how they panned up instead of showing Kaz's hands when he takes his gloves off at the beginning! The books built up so much anticipation with the gloves and the name Dirtyhands and the rumour in the Barrel that his hands are constantly covered in blood. And then when he takes them off they're just the normal hands of a boy physically separate from the word (a metaphor perhaps) because of his PTSD! So well done and so subtle its so good
This show made my Malina heart happy. I also hate that Ben Barnes is so attractive because I hate the Darkling and I still wanna smack him when I see him in the show but I also wanna admire him at the same time 😭

If we all thought the same, most inventions, theories, and works of art wouldn't exist. When I read the book, I interpreted the premise of their relationship as toxic even though they were in love. Your opinion is yours. That's great, but I personally find their dynamic toxic. Matthias is a dangerous bigot with the potential to kill Nina, even though he might have changed in the second book. Nina is a minority of a group discriminate d against by most. The Grisha are not a group in large numbers. That makes her a minority in the landscape of the books.
I gotta say I liked Mal in the show more than in the books, but Darklina will forever be my favorite couple and the fact that Ben Barnes plays him I love him even more. 😫🤚🏼
Inej is clearly the best. Knife Wife for Life. Kirigan is clearly grooming Alina with his sad boy routine, but he's very effective at it. It's very well done.
My interpretation of Alina crying in her room: her friends died in the fold, she witnessed people around her slaughtered. She almost died and she may never see Mal (her only family) after experiencing a harrowing near-death experience. She didn't even get the chance to say bye to him! Girl... Cry do what you have to do. What she went through was traumatizing and sometimes you need to let your emotions out!
Oh my gosh yes! Almost everybody I've ever seen reacting to this certain scene don't seem to get it. They seem to concentrate on the luxury and elegance of the room instead of Alina's truly understandable breakdown. She went through so much so quickly and her life situation changed so drastically into an uncertain future with the biggest blow, losing Mal. I dont care how pretty or comfortable the place they put me at is I'd be in utter turmoil.

Allow me to add to the malina hype: *spoilers btw if you’ve never read the books* the whole moment when he says “I’ll meet you in the Meadow” and they’re holding onto each other while Alina is being taken by the volcra- Mal being the trigger for her power as an actual Amplifier just furthering their connection together I mean it was so sexy of the show to hint at that straight from the beginning
I loved this so so so so much 🤩😍 this might be one of the few times I might prefer an adaptation over the source material. The book Vs the series, the series brought Me to my knees. Ben Barnes and Jessie's chemistry 😍😍.
I just- I love it. It's so pretty, it's so just fantastic. I'm a little put off by some changes and some they didn't make but IM SMITTEN! Kit has become Jesper as far as I'm concerned and I adore the scene where Kaz and Inej are drinking his shots😂 (I adore him as a whole lol) I love how Mal and Alina have come into their own, I'm *still* in love with Ben Barns lol, and Zoya is a queen (But like sis, relax your boo is coming). I'm a bit confused as to why they're showing so much of their hand with Kaz's backstory and I'm not fond of how they changed a few others stories. But other than that so far it's been fantastic! I watched the first two again with my parents AND THE DETAILS these people have put into the show. Let us take a moment to that the set designers because they whole thing is * chefs kiss *

Good. Darklina was never supposed to be an actual ship, the Darkling has like no redeeming qualities at all, and directly abuses Alina, and only wants to possess her. That people think it's some great romance is terrifying.

Show definitely won't make me a Malina stan after the 400 annoying flashbacks of the same meadow scene lmao (please don't bring it in back in s2). But they seriously just transplanted a new character on him which, I guess, good for him lol. I loved the heartrender husbands. I was disappointed that they made Zoya randomly racist. She would never, even at her pettiest, be racist towards Alina, I will die on this hill.

If anything the constant beating-to-death of malina scenes in this season just made me even more reluctant to like them. absolutely no disrespect to those who do, they have just never appealed to me, and not even the show version can make me like them nearly as much as I like darklina
