- This afternoon we laid our hands on the first Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid press bike to hit Australian Shores. I caught up with Andrew Clubb, editor of Australian Adventure Bike Magazine, an hour after he picked up the bike from Yamaha HQ.

A lot better tech like traction control etc on the Ducati desert x for the same price including cruise and quick shift. The Japanese bikes are getting too pricey now. Euro are winning.
I'll hold my judgement until I've tried that KYB suspension.
You should try changing the air filter on the Desert X though. You have to take the tank off!
Its fail for me.... No cruise control, top heavy, expensive
OK
It's should be in your right hand , it's an art brother, gotta learn
Cruise control for an offroad bike?? Cant imagine setting 60mph and then taking my hands of the bars whilst hits rocks and gravel. And then they would add more to the bill.😊 also in the uk they are discounting to £10700 with 1 k of extra bits .
Nice vid.👍
That over 25% price increase will cause many Americans waiting for WRs to purchase other ADVs.
I got tired of waiting and purchased a DesertX 2.5 months ago, already have nearly 3k miles on it.😊
Got to ride a friend's T7 on the hwy last week (we swapped bikes), Texas hwys are usually moving at over 80 mph.
Felt like I had to wring out the T7 to do things the DesertX performs effortlessly.
Thanks for the info
I just grabbed a de800...under 10k! Fantastic.
Certainly, a double fuel tank and fancier panel would be a big selling point for this model, however with increase in both weight (220kg) and price (25500 AUD) which push it on par with more powerful platforms such as Honda Africa Twin manual (229 kg and 24780 AUD respectively), I doubt slightly if these changes have somehow deviate from its original purpose, an affordable, off-road capable mid-weight adv bike.
I think we need to test that KYB suspension first before coming to hasty conclusions. Also very attractive to Aussie riders is the 500 km range.
Yeah it’s getting too expensive compared to even euro options like the desert x with much better tech.
Could not agree more , but I am sure it will be amazing 😂
More than I paid for my Norden and it comes with a lot more equipment and an advanced tech package. If you want Japanese you could just get the vstom.
@@MusicalMemeologylol….make sure to leave yourself a few hours to pull the bike apart to change the air filter on the Ducati X. Typical shit design by the Italians.
Would you justify 2k euros (here in Europe) higher price than standard 2023 T7?
I mean...You can get and mount a LOT of goodies for 2k euros :)
Im in a market for a Tenere, but cannot decide between Standard T7, World Rally and WOrld Raid...
Standard T7---11500E
Rally Edition---13000
World Raid---13400
There is also an option for World Rally but at 15000E price tag its just a hard pass tho....
Would appritiate any input. :D
Don't know enough yet.
America always gets screwed out of the cool European and Australian bikes. Thank God we have our guns to keep us occupied during the day and warm at night🫡 😂
Good point. Mass shootings a day haven't slowed.
Very interesting to see the new Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid. I might wait a few months just to see how they ride and function before looking any further. I currently ride a Yamaha TDM900 Twin (2009) which runs well ...but would like the option of going off road too.
Yeah let's see how they go,.
You can fit a Acerbis 23 liter tank to a standard T7 and its lighter than the stock tank and no wider.
The WR just adds more dry weight to the bike.
It easy and cheap to swap the fork springs on a base T7, it makes a huge difference.
As for ABS, just take the fuse out and forget about it.
Top 4 reasons to buy a T7, price, reliability, off road capability, no electronics. WR loses 3 of the 4 with high price, reduction of off road capability, added electronics.
T7 with suspension mods is a good option
That’s what I’m riding, wouldn’t mind the abs upgrade but the rest is debatable. Keep up the honest vids👍
That price equates to $21,800 Canuck loons. Base models back in 2019 sold for $12,500 here. Granted things have changed & i spent seriously on aftermarket upgrades, but this is getting beyond the “affordable” bracket & heading for the premium one. No worries though, we won’t even get the option here for years anyway.
Start saving :)
Good reliable bike, getting a bit pricey though, two years ago I could get a standard model (obviously without the upgrades) for $17,500
Gone up a little. But all bikes have.
By the time some people setup the bike it will cost 30k+ AUD.... feels like yesterday a base Africa twin was 15k...
My guess is around $28K AU
Does it have tubeless tyres and cruise control ? It’s a lot of money for a bike with no cruise control.
No cruise. Not sure about the tyres yet.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV How can you RAID the WORLD without cruise control ? 🤔😆
I have had the blue since one year and now at 8000km (I live in Italy), more than half of them off pavement. Cons: top weight, high seat when in difficult situations (even if I am tall 1.88 m). Design Flaws: the scroll wheel got stuck by sand while in Tunisia (unusable, could no longer exclude abs); abs is put back every time you stop the engine (even when using the on-off button), need to stall it in first gear; muffler is tied to the frame: I bought another which goes inside and has not this problem; the yamaha crash bar do not protect the back of the tank; I added crash bars and plate guard, barkbusters, foldable mirrors, excel rims for tubeless tires (imo tubes are too dangerous when riding on pavement), new suspension spring for my weight (I am 120 kg, was bottoming sometimes). So a lot of additional €£$. PROs: superb engine, no fancy electronics (I want a motorbike, not a videogame). Going to use it as a more capable, even if slower, single seat BMW GS Adv for long travels on dirt roads (not true off-road). In summary: a motorbike with a well defined niche of use. Well suited for your roads. Enjoy!!
Thanks for this insight. Excellent.
Big Bike, been a long time Yamaha fan since my 1978 DT400 days (Only new bike or car I have ever owned) but It's way out of my price range. But a nice bike.
I'm looking forward to riding it.
Great job guys!Love the bike...but I'm done waiting for Yamaha to bring the World Raid. Still a Yamaha fan boy....moving onto what I can get in North America since I'm not going to wait another 1-2years. Pretty much what happened when I was waiting for the original T7...the result was Husky501 which is fantastic ride. Excited to see your test on the bike which of course still makes it really desirable here in the USA. Cheers!
You and me both!
Hmm, fatter , heavier, doesn't look as nice(IMO), more expensive and with a complicated selection of modes, Think I'll keep my basic T7, I don't have to remember short or long press, don't need the extra range and prefer slim bike.Only bit I would like is the suspension.
We are comparing my standard to the world raid very shortly
Torn between this, a Suzuki DL 1050 or an Africa Twin for my next bike. I'll be riding mostly tarmac in Europe but would like to do some easy off road if the situation presents itself. Decisions, decisions. 😂
The Suzuki DE800 is a cracking engine, good handling, good all rounder.
Did I hear "tubeless" and "cruise control"? No?.....Keep it, not interested. Sticking with my old Super Tenere.
Well that's a bullet proof bike
Looks like the menu system sucks. Bash plate little flimsy. Having a plastic jug next to the exhaust... not good. But at least you have it. Looks like I'll need to keep waiting another 18 or longer to see it in the states... Huge price bump makes me wonder how it compares to the Desert X?
Good point. In Australia a competitor
Can't wait for the upcoming vids guys... best ADV channel around this... always delivers 💯👌
Much appreciated! Tell your friends..we need more subscribers.
Wake me up when there's cruise control. 500km of holding the throttle grip is a loooooooooooong distance. It's a nice bike otherwise. Also the two fuel cap setup is a little bit weird. There must be a better way...
Thanks
I don’t want to hear ‘patiently waited’ as a US rider. It’s a bummer they are blowing sales with limited supply.
It's coming!
Great to see you trying the Tenere world Raid . I own one for the last 6 month , in black, and can't wait to hear what you think of it. Also would love to hear if you make setting changes to the suspensions (preload , rebound ...) and to hear what they are , as i have no clue ! Have fun with it !
Yes we will. Good news we will have a bike long term so we will be going over all of this and adding some parts.
Is the Tenere extreme coming to Australia ?
I think so.
Word has it it’s coming to USA. September 2023
Well I hope so.
I'm curious if you guys are following 'Rockets' development of the Safari 45l tank for thr T7????
Abso Bloody Lutely. We are in contact with Rocket.
@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV well, I'll be waiting with baited breath on your opinion when they give you one to try. I'd prefer the style in 25 litres to keep the weight low, but i guess i don't need to fill it up to 45l.😉
@@olmate6935 Yeah. It will be a good comparison with my setup.
I don’t like the double tank the rest is very good and reliable and simple for long distance I like the standard model better
That tnk makes a huge difference to centre of gravity.
Too small, seat is a disaster, suspension is super weak, high centre of gravity, engine is weak/breathless… There is much better options with KTM890, Husky Norden or 850GSA. Aprilia Touareg kills this bike in any aspect
I don't agree with most of is. The seat is fine, The suspension is great, the engine is amazing at low revs and brilliant for off road. The centre of gravity is higher than the the bikes mentioned but handling is excellent. The other bikes mentioned are excellent with some being better value proposition.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Every time i use Tenere for longer trips it feels like a moped and i am not even particularly big person (183cm 100kg)… Best Regards
They need to build a lightweight one with the same suspension upgrade. A low profile tank at 16 litres would be perfect. Most of use don’t want to ride 500km without stopping. And none of us want this kind of bike that weighs 220kg wet, with luggage and crash bars probably in excess 250kg! 😮
247 kg from memory :)
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I still think they’re a fantastic bike. 🙂
$23,799 ride away in NZ , my local Yamaha dealer has one for sale. Surprised at Aussie price .
Ooh. That's a bit different.
Yes but when you approach sheep the kiwi bike automatically comes to a stop
Jesus !!! Look at the way the coolant res. is exposed.
Yeah I was surprised by that but would be covered with the bashplate.
Certainly looks the goods. Not sure about that tft screen and controls. Be interesting to see more of the bike. Pretty sure I will be sticking with my 22 model and just adding the upgrades I want as required.
I receive it tomorrow.
Too bad, I cant post or share pics here. But if You look at the front fork for bottoming - keep in mind, 30mm from the bottom is unused by the OEM. so the "travel" actually is a lot less available than You think.
And with optional extras (guards and nav etc) last 3 suspension customers that we had here were well over 230kg bikes.
It is a mild dirtroad cruiser at best.
Top heavy, quite slow (compare it to a 56kw single cil ktm or husky for ex. they weigh 100kg less). And not all that cheap either...
Interesting!
My god, I still dont know exactly why, but I'm obessed with the T7's... standard or the new Tomb Raider edition! xD ...and I dont even have a license or the money to get one! :D I love em! This thing could be 30k Euro's and I'd still get one if I was in the market! :D😍 I have not been on dirt with an engine between my chicken legs in 25 years! xD
Fair enough!
You can achieve a larger fuel tank on the T7 by adding the Acerbis tank with the advantage of filling only one tank but not two like on the WR model.
If I recap correctly the 230 mm front travel are 220 in reality. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm interested to see if the new menu wheel survives Australian sand and dust.
I pick up the bike for testing tomorrow.
And they still didn’t fix the exhaust
You'l need a pannier rack to protect.
Screen / menu operation seems awful. Not sure if that would work with gloves? Might be question of getting used to but seems fundamental flaw for a 25K bike.
They get. used to it I reckon.
This would be my choice as an ADV bike but I’m vertically challenged. It’s like getting on a horse. LOL!!
It is on the tall side, but it has to be with improved suspension.
What a great reliable bike , not a cheese grater.
Definiteky reliable
Congratulations on the scoop lads !
Will be following the future video keenly
Here is South Africa the dealership tell me that this model as is the case with the Rally model… rather sad for the fans this side
Enjoy the adventures
Thanks
990 had twin tanks from day 1 lol
There is a distant similiarity when looking down.
Picked up mine on Friday. First I have seen in Brisbane. Time to add all the accessories I have accumulated since placing my depostit 8 months ago.
A long wait but worth it
Isn’t that tube on the side its own built in crash bar? And if you already touch that part with your knees, do you think long legged riders will have ergonomic issues with the world raid?
I look forward to riding it
We need this bike in the States! 5 models Globally and we get one!?
This is a great bike. A noticeable improvement in handling over the first.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Dave! I'll send you the money to ship one over to me!? Cheers Mate! 👍🏻🍻🏍️🇺🇸🇦🇺
The one thing i really liked about tenere was the weight being lighter than the 890 adventure r. This version is unfortunately a bit heavier. Would of liked to see some diet around the bike to keep the weight similar to the other model so you could throw crash bars on without too much consequence.
This bike looks fantastic though and the teneres have the best sound out there.
I'm looking forward to testing that suspension.
Congratulations, Austrailia, for being able to get this bike!! I seriously doubt if this model will ever be available in the USA. Yamaha is really dropping the ball with getting inventory to the US market.
There is a complex reason as to why it won't reach you in the short term.
I want a red and white like my old 660
Good point.
$25,499.00 on the road
I think so, something like that.
What do I need a tenere raid for when I gots me an 890advR lol this probably costs as much
They are about the same.
There's already new tenere models on the way to uk/europe ,the extreme and explorer so I've read and seen some pictures online
I became aware of that last night.
Crazy how much prices differ. In AUS you say the standard tenere is $19,999, here in the US the standard tenere is $10,499.
Value of the dollars is different. Despite that there's still a big difference,
Some Dealers have been offering the standard 2023 T7 for $17,689 AU.
World Raid £10800 here on Guernsey. No sales tax! Yay😊
@@petittrainguernsey3297
Can you ride off road In gurnsey? It's so tiny, and I thought Jersey was small.
I need to vist Gurnsey one day.
Looks the goods but 25k is to much. Thats Ducati Dessert X money.
$25 K AU seems the going rate for up specced adventure mid sized twins.
USA will probably never see this bike, unfortunately!
Not sure about that. We reckon about 18 months.
Certainly some much needed upgrades, still some areas of concern I feel. Let's see how the test goes. Excellent work guys. 👌👍😎🇦🇺
Yeah looking forward to testing that suspension.
Way too expensive, there are bikes out there more value for money than this model.
Let's wait and see. Really looking forward to testing that suspension.
I anticipate many T7's on the used market here is the states when this bike comes out.
Filming for the review is complete. The suspension is amazing.
They are expensive in Sweden to consider there is no cruise control. The Rally version that just is realised in Sweden with different colors is the NASA level in price.
Thanks for the information
Looks nice 👍
Yeah, looks refined.
Yamaha dont seem to have fixed the flawed exhaust mount design...
Best work around is a pannier rack.
Best dual sport + adventure bike in the market...bar none
Now there's a fan.
Will be interesting to see what you guys think. I have had one since Sept 22 with 7k miles on it. Used mainly for green lanes (off road), decatted and remapped with high exhaust, mitas 12 and 13 fitted crash bars fitted. Got some tech front springs to throw in and ready for the Spanish test in October. There heavy but stable and can be picked up.
Hi Richard , how did the decat and remap work for you? and who did you use for remap
@philippegosseau Runs smoothly, slight power and torque increase. Main thing is its not running lean but just right. Had it remapped in UK by dave wood racing, took a few hours on dyno but recommend them.
Thanks Richard. I get it today.
Love my world raid, down in Adelaide, got my AXP for it too
Excellent
By the time they hit the US market, many of us will have purchased something else.
And worn that one out. Timing may be good :)
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV well I am currently riding my new 2023 DRZ400s (same classic design), and enjoying the heck out of it off road here in Alaska. But It’s on road that it proves wanting.
Well that sucks for us USA people then..
Sometimes you guys get models earlier than us. Hasn't worked out for this one.
What is that testicle removing attachment you’ve put on the tank?😮 That has to go!
It fits an after market tank bag
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Thanks. I had figured it’s for a tank bag but looks damn dangerous there!
By the time we get them in the USA if we do the t7 phase will be over.. the vsrom 800de and the tansulp will have cornerd the market
Both good bikes
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV well since the vsrom 800de hit the US the t7s have been popping up on the used market.. heck I've decided to sell my t7 to get the vsrom

American here. Crying confirmed.
I'll send you a tissue. Considering about 25% of my audience is American I'll be sending a box of tissues a month for a while. :)
Great...another after market magnet 🙄
Yep
this is super neat i love the idea of long range tanks like the husky 701 LR has and not many bikes have versions with bigger tanks for places like australia
id like to see a auxillary tank for the cfmoto 800mt under the rear seat or something it would be a intersting long trip bike with all its heated seats and grips and other comforts
Long range tanks for Australia are useful.
What's the RRP on them
You didn't watch the end of the video.

It does, doesn't it.
Fuck yeah!!!

Hey Clubby and Dave. Great job on the intro. If you push those buttons enough something different is bound to come up. Glad you finally got one. Our European brethren have had these since the getgo. A lot of them have no experience whatsoever on the previous model. My Nordic ADV brothers love them. They ride the heck out of them along with the KTM 890 ADV. I like the fact that the tanks are located under the steering head. I'll deal with the taller suspension and seat deal without worry. My Acerbis tank is right up there as well. In the USA we don't get the ADV bikes like the rest of the world. Even dealers talk the Honda Transalp will be held up longer for here. My Tenere is a 2022 model with Euro 5 emissions so I have equipment to match that for mine. A full Corsa exhaust takes care of that anyway. As long as most of my Ohlins work it will be ok. It maybe 2025 by the time we get them, if then. This is a much different bike environment than the rest of the world. Electric is coming big time. Get out there mates and put some K's down with it. Can't wait to see and hear your perspectives of it. Now the new USA models come wiired for the Quick Shift, big screen like yours. There's a few more insignificant updates but those two are the big ones. Take care, be careful in the Snowy Mtns. Cheers from East Kentucky USA. Land of mountains and high humidity.
Thanks Sam.
Put your hands up if you are glad you held off on purchasing a Tenere to see this new release now available?
Hands down for me :) I bought my T7
