    Have a Rockville sub in a self contained box. Worked great for 4 years. Took a corner too fast today, box shifted and amp went into protect mode. This video helped me figure out that the ground wire had disconnected. If anyone is havig this issue start there. This thing still sounds great in my Honda Fit. Thanks for the information.

    1. power and ground wires secured?
    2. is system compatible with itself?
    3. is there enough ventilation to the amp?
    4. do speaker cables touch each other?
    5. reverse polarity, gnd in power and power in gnd
    6. is speaker still alive?
    7. is remote wire connected properly?
    8. voltage problem with car battery if lower or higher
    9. are wires for gnd pwr and rem thick enough?

    This video helped me today. I was trying to test my new Rockville amp without connecting all the speakers (I tried to test just the sub), and the amp went into protect mode.
    Thanks to this video, now I realize that if it detects an open on any output, it goes into protect mode. I had no clue it did that.
    Once I hooked up all the speakers, then presto it worked.

    This is by far the best troubleshooting video I've seen. Not just for car audio but quite frankly, it's as good as any video I've seen on anything. So look....I've checked every last thing you've said and still can't figure out why this is happening...
    When I start playing music it sounds great. Start turning it up and I'm getting excited because it is starting to THUMP and then all of a sudden the subs won't hit and the protect mode light comes on my amp. I back off the volume a little bit and it starts working perfectly again. My voltage reading from my amp at the point this happens is reading anywhere from 13 to 13.5 volts. So I'm getting the power I need right? I hooked up a different sub to see if that was the problem but again, the same thing happened. I'm running an 2500w monoblock amp that produces 325w at a 4 ohm load. I'm powering a 4 ohm Kicker 15" that's rms rating is 350w.... I AM STUMPED!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

    I am having similar issue currently on my Rockville all in one sub and amp, I have connected the ground cable to a negative terminal of battery? Is that ok? I am keep getting red protection light solid and flashing when the volume is above 8 or 9? If I increase the volume to max the amp shuts off and doesn’t work. Please assist . I have high input cable running from the amp to my rear 🔊 speakers.

    If my battery is low will this cause my amp to go into protect mode when my music is up?

  • @brucebanner5860
    @brucebanner5860 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've had a new install for about a year and it's worked great until about a week ago. The music would just stop for about 10 seconds then start playing again. It didn't matter the volume. I then noticed when I turned remote(wired to amp) completely down that it wouldn't happen anymore. Then I turned remote up as little as one notch and noticed the protect light was coming on when music would stop and light would go off when music would return. After starting my truck the battery would show 14v. When the radio was on with remote down all the way it would show 12-13v. When remote was turned up and music would shut off and on I would see a range of 6-10v. Any ideas what might cause this after almost a year?

    Can a amp go into protect if i tap into factory sub line with a low output convertor?

  • @osbberjen
    @osbberjen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    my protect mode led blinks when the bass is turned to max, my head lamps dims when the bass hits. so i wonder if my voltage drops to much when heavy bass hits.

    • @MemphisMojo15s

      Yep. Get a 2nd battery 🙂

    • @VqBran
      @VqBran 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If your lights blink when the bass is up you need a extra battery same thing mine was doing when I had it maxed out or the bass hit hard.

    I know this is a older video so I'm not sure if I'll get a answer. However I have a 2 ohm dual voice sub wired down to a 1 ohm matching my amp. Except I've tried hooking this sub up to 3 dif amps and everytime I can get it to Plat a lil with volume down but as a soon as I turn it up to like 6 it sends every single amp I've tried into protect mode. Is this something that's fixable or is the sub trash. (Also the sub has excellent sound until it sends the amp to protection mode

    I have 2 old amps that go into protect mode right when they turn on with no speakers hooked up. I guess this is something internal on both amps and they both look like they have been taken apart previously. Ah well. They were free. :P

    so i have 0 guage wire. 2 batteries. big 3 upgrade. amp is never hot or really warm when it cuts off. wired (12g) from + - amp to + - of speakers. mono block, rockford 1600w. in my 45 minute to and from work i can bang a good 3/4 of it. i listen to powerful bass songs. steady RMS.
    what exactly is my problem? voltage is there. unless theres a negative rated wire i got the best i can get for battery and ground. my 12g should be fine for speaker wire. connections are secured. no wires touching. all my previous amps just werent strong enough. so when i got this i wired it up the same way. its set at 50-60%. anyone got an idea?

      if your cables are melting then it is most likely that your power cable is touching an earth somewher.

My amp is capable of 1 ohm at 900 rms and I have 2 dvc 4ohm at 600 rms total for both so it should hold and they're parallel wired to 1 ohm . But my amp has protect mode on I cant figure out why
