Sagnik Mukherjee, mixing medical stuff and spiral power, well yeah. His cells probably got a ton of spiral energy then, got faster/stronger in that moment. Ofc from the blood lost there weren’t many. But spiral power pushed his body to get oxygen faster. Same in the movie where simons blood surrounded him and turned into a drill to kill anti-spiral.

It was intentional they knew that way people would be most attached to Kamina and sympathise with the loss and understand the teams struggle but they also had to do it early to give Simon enough time to become a character to replace him

I never thought of Kamina as the main character. I expected him to die somewhere. I braced myself for this episode. But all for naught. I cried, the dam couldn't hold it. Rest in peace Kamina. One of the greatest characters ever.

This came out in 2007. I was 11. Things were simpler, and I simply adored mech animes for the action packed storylines. Today I'm 25. Everything is different, life's slapped a couple of bricks on my face and I suddenly remembered this anime fondly. I rewatched the entire thing and goddamn. It just HITS DIFFERENT. Kamina was so on point. He was the light and inspiration of many characters in the series and his essence outlasted his own lifespan. When I reached this scene I was in tears. He felt like a brother giving advice to someone down in the dumps, no longer sure of himself. Absolutely beautiful.

i have seen it when I was 16 yo. Now I am 27 yo woman and everything changed around. still, while rewatching this series I feel like I hits me the same way and I understand more of it at the same time. that anime gave me something years ago and I Will never forget.

I always get sad when I see this scene, no matter how many times I see it i'm just left feeling empty and sad that he died and couldn't marry Yoko, or that he couldn't see Simone grow up and become a man. Kamina was the big bro we all wanted.
Kamina saw Simon in episode 26. That was his spirit and he wintessed Simon surpassing him and everyone :D

I dropped this show 7 times in a span of 6 years, every time at ep 8. Today, I finally managed to finish it.
I think what makes this death so jarring compared to others later on is that, it really felt like it wasn't meant to happen. All the characters felt just as shocked as us, including Kamina himself, who probably didn't realize he would die a premature and sudden death until after he was hit. It felt like even the writers didn't know it was going to happen and that made it so much more impactful than other anime deaths.
Before I was a weeb my boyfriend told me after having a breakdown about school that "if I ever don't believe in myself believe in the me that believes in you" needless to say I didn't know that he stole it from this anime

ngl after Kamina died I lost motivation to continue watching. I still did though, and the final arc was epic, but I still can't get past him dying. Show really lost something important that couldn't be replaced.

The thing i liked about these 2 is that without each other in a way they were nothing but together whether it be in physically or in spirit were unstoppable. But then when Kamina died Simon realized he couldn't be his bro and had to stop relying on him because he was dead and grew to be the man he is
No death in anime has ever hit me as hard as Kamina, it will stick with me until I am ashes blowing in the wind. I am so grateful to have lived to see the things I have.

I kinda liked that Kamina died, I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude. What I'm trying to say is, what made this show great is how your emotions would spiral almost out of control. Kamina was such a lovable character, and losing him would have caused so much emotional chaos within the viewer which in my opinion, is what most good writers aim for.

I spent the rest of my first viewing refusing to believe they killed off Kamina. I literally could not believe it. Such a well-written character for how little screen time he actually had.

The thing for me was: I expected him to die from the very start. But what I didn't expect was him dying this early in the series, all of sudden and without any warnings whatsoever. Instead I was waiting him to die somewhere near the end of the series. It hit me like a truck and I was left completely shocked and dumbfounded. Much like the characters were.
