October 4, 1981 - The Exhumation and Identification of Lee Harvey Oswald

- The grave of the man accused of assassinating President John F. Kennedy was opened in Rose Hill Burial Park in Fort Worth, Oswald's home town, starting shortly after 7 A.M. The public and reporters were kept out of the cemetery as work began. As helicopters circled overhead, the coffin was covered with a white sheet and driven the 35 miles to Dallas in a hearse.
A team of examining pathologists said that the remains were indeed Oswald's. The finding appeared to end speculation that the corpse might have been that of a Russian agent sent here to kill President Kennedy in 1963.
The mere fact this even had to be done speaks volumes about the truth behind the assassination.

It didn't have "to be done". Michael Eddowes, a conspiracy author who thought the Soviets replaced Oswald with a spy, fought for years to have it happen. He tried offering tens of thousands of dollars, tried suing people, and failed for years until he finally convinced Marina to allow it.

Paul Haig you asked a long time ago, but it was to see if Oswald was really dead. People thought the gov faked his death so they could get him out of the spotlight so he wouldn’t rat on the US government.
Why? It will just prove that the same bullet went through both men, and besides, you won't believe whatever the outcome would be anyway!

Where do you get 2 years from?? They exhumed the body at 7am. Examination began at 10am and they positively identified Oswald based on clothing and ring, an autopsy cut that had been made, dental records, a defect from a mastoid operation Oswald had has a child, and others. The whole process of verification only took a few hours, and the press conference seen was held at 3pm.
Your 2 year figure likely comes from the 3 year process Michael Eddowes, a conspiracy author, went through to get the exhumation. He tried suing everyone, offering to pay tens of thousands of dollars... and failed for years. Then he finally convinced Oswalds wife Marina to consent (all evidence points to him paying her a large sum of money for approval). Then Oswalds brother sued to stop it, another lengthy court process took place, then finally exhumation took place.
C'mon. Cameras were better than this in 1981.

@@Chauncey-Holt This is correct. My grandad was Paul Groody, the man who performed the original embalming in 1963 and then was asked by the FBI to exhume him in 1981. He can be seen briefly at the end of this video carrying the back right corner of the casket. He performed a craniotomy in 1963. The skull in 1981 did not have such a procedure. But the teeth and mastoid operation scar matched that of LHO. Pawpaw was in the room when they examined him in 81. Also, the vault that the casket goes in in the ground had been cracked open. That's why the body and casket itself had been decomposed way beyond what would have been normal. The FBI reported that the vault had been cracked by a "seismic event" sometime prior to 1981. Pawpaw's theory was that the 63 LHO was really a Russian doppelgänger and that the real LHO was still in Russia somewhere. Then sometime between 63 and 81, Russia killed the real LHO, cracked open the vault, and switched the skulls. And he knew it was the same BODY if not the head because he put white socks on the corpse in 63, rather than dress socks. The white socks were still there in 81.

@CINEKYD MEDIA ARCHIVE haha no, nothing of the sort. He considered pursuing it but in the end he and my grandma felt it would have compromised his family’s safety. If his theory was correct and the folks on the other side had the resources and wherewithal to crack and vault and switch heads, they could’ve easily found him and done who-knows-what. He didn’t want to end up “at the bottom of a lake with concrete boots” as he used to say. So he opted for anonymity.

No! A British author did. In fact, his brother strongly opposed the exhumation and I believe it even went to court. However, Marina Oswald was actually in favour of the process taking place and was present in the pathology room when during the identification.
Nope, a conspiracy theorist named Michael Eddowes did. He offered money, sued, and fought for years trying to get Oswald exhumed because he thought the real Oswald had been replaced with a Soviet spy when Oswald was in Russia a few years before JFK assassination.
He failed for years, until finally getting Oswalds wife Marina to agree (who he likely paid a large sum of money to). Oswalds brother sued back to stop the exhumation. After lengthy proceedings, Eddowes won and this event occurred.

Professor John Armstrong details in his book 'Harvey and Lee' how the CIA created 1 'Oswald' but used 2 different people, the Oswald we all know was a 'refugee' from Eastern Europe that was a part of a CIA plan to use refugees to train as spies and send them back home because of their ability to speak certain languages. They tracked 'Harvey' his entire life and used him as a 'patsy'. The other 'Oswald' was an American born kid who's real name was Oswald. Armstrong found tons of government documents that prove both Oswalds existed, and they at times were even very close to each other. But there were also times when 'Lee' would be doing CIA work as an 'anti Castro' team member while our Oswald was in other places. When 'Harvey' was in Russia for example, 'Lee' was in the Dallas/ Fort worth area trying to buy pickup Trucks for the 'anti Castro cubans'. This book is the closet thing to the truth ever created, the documentation is spot on, most books are either purposeful propaganda or not so well researched money makers...
