Lets be real, most of us use our pocket knives for opening boxes/ mail/ some meal prep. I love this thing.

This could also work in a self defense situation.

I really think that Gerber has upped their game here lately. They use to be a pretty big player in the knife industry and then faded a bit, but now I think they are back again. As always, thanks for your great and insightful reviews.

A few comments on crap steel.
It’s $35 bucks. It’s nice for the dough.
Go spend BIG BUCKS ON THE CUSTOMS you’ll never carry or just show off. That’s a waste. And worse cut a box or lose.
I’ll pull the trigger on one thanks for the great review.

Can't see myself spending big money on a high-end cleaver, but this one I've been looking at just to add a cleaver blade to my collection.

This would be a great compliment to the mess kit. Perfect implement for camping solo or with the family. I can see a ton of camp tasks performed with this.

I needed a pocket knife that was large enough for me not to forget to put it back in my tool box. I’ve left 2 out and they both disappeared. The cleaver style blade is perfect for slicing rubber hose with a fabric weave on the inside for reinforcement. 👌🏻

Great review. I love the look of clever folders. My favorite budget clever-ish folder is the CRKT Pilar. But This Gerber one looks pretty cool. I also like the compact pocket clip on this knife.

These aren’t bad for the price. I find myself carrying lower steels these days because they’re simply easier to touch up after hard use. For a big, thick blade cleaver this isn’t bad at all. Bronze washers, tight lock up, and a centered blade make this a nice pickup imo. I did have to give my edge a little tlc out of the box, so not Gerber’s best effort there. Just to add a quick note, the finish on the blade and handle is called a tumbled finish. 👍

Looks to be a nice slim design. Also these squared off designs tend to be a little better at rough use as most people like to abuse the tips of there cutlery.

I have the spyderco roc and got the to carry to work (landscaping) and I've gutted 2 deer with it this year so far zero issues.. and it's a hollow ground blade so it is actually a good slicer idk why you say it's not.. but very good for 28$ and the clevers work well for me..I haven't found a situation where I could have accomplished something with my spyderco tenacious and not with a clever style blade either

Got mine for $15 since it had the old cardboard packaging!!! Keep an eye out for the outdated packaging. I find retail stores like to mark the knives down based merely on packaging you usually throw out anyways.

You might have gotten one on sale or clearance. However you might also have bought the first version of the Flatiron. It underwent a redesign due to customer feedback. The one in this video is the latest version. They changed the location of the logo, the thumb hole, and changed the over travel disc to a plate held to the frame with two screws.

A hollow ground blade is actually a very good slicer. Especially if it’s a high hollow like this knife is. So I don’t understand what you are talking about with this knife not being a good slicer or cutter
