I know he was in Cool-hand Luke, Kelly's Heroes, God Father 2, and Escape from New York But I loved him in that movie he made called Straight Time, Damn he was worthy of awards in that movie, dude straight acted his ass off. PLUS We have the same birthday......
A lot of people don't realize Harry was in the movie - "Up in Smoke". You have to watch the deleted scenes featured in the DVD and it sheds a LOT of light into the court room appearance scene as to why Tommy Chong was all "Fucked Up" in the courtroom. Most people think it was from the Acid Trip scene where Chong ate all the drugs before being busted, but there is a scene RIGHT BEFORE they go into the court room where Tommy is with Cheech in the hallway waiting to be brought into the courtroom for the hearing. in this scene Harry is there. Cheech says Harry - to this day - cannot remember EVER BEING in that movie. Harry Dean was an absolutely awesome actor --- PERIOD.
MrRondonmon Straight Time is among a tiny group of the greatest small time hood films ever made in America, with some of the best performanceses the stellar cast ever gave, including the 2 best character actors in the same picture.
Every movie I ever watched which had Harry acting in it, I enjoyed more. No matter the character you wanted to see more of him. There will never be another Harry Dean Stanton. You sir are sorely missed and Hollywood was left with a hole that will never be filled. RIP and a legend never to be forgotten.

PARIS, TEXAS. Been so many decades since I've seen that memorable film with Harry, Nastassja Kinski, and my friend, the unforgettable Dean Stockwell. Been ages since I've talked to him also. I gotta rent it soon so I can see them all one more time...
He was in pretty bad shape here and could have used some spot on guitar playing to help him out, instead of that idiot Johnny Depp playing all the wrong s***.
Harry Dean was of a kind of his own. In the best sense. The parts he played, and his performances were so memorable. Thinking about the scene in Cool Hand Luke. Harry singing while Luke is digging...... Brought me to tears, and made me feel compassion. That was Harry's scene, more so than Paul Newman's.
Harry Dean was one hell of an actor, musician, and general stand-up kind of guy. Always brought his best to any work in which he was involved, and always left you with a piece of his heart. God Bless Harry Dean Stanton❤️
On one stage...3 of the best actors, singers and performers ever. Not to mention...3 of MY FAVORITE artists. I Love u all and I truly appreciate u guys for sharing ur talents and for allowing us to witness the magic. R.I.P Mr. Stanton, u r one of the best. I thank ur family for being so generous in sharing him with the world.
@@rickingamells1078 she’s being nice. I agree that Depp, and Stanton are 2 of the greatest actors ever… they absolutely belong in the best of the best and Stanton was a decent singer, Depp doesn’t do bad at all either, but to say they are the cream of the crop as singers, realistically isn’t true, but I certainly think they can hold their own. As far as Kris, he is one the very finest songwriters anywhere. He excels and he’s done well in a good number of movies, in fact I think I’ve probably watched everything he’s been in, but if Kris were to read that someone said he was the best of the best actors, he give a big smile and a polite, thank you. However, knowing Kris, I can tell you if he ever heard someone say he was the best of the best singers, he would have tears rolling down his face from how much his sides ached from laughing. Kris would be honored if you thought so, because he’s truly appreciative of his fans, but he would be the first to acknowledge that he’s not even a mediocre singer! Other than his acting, I really don’t know much about Stanton, but he always struck me as a really nice person. I know Johnny to be one of the most humblest people on this planet and I know Kris to be just a super good human being and loyal to his friends. So, I would agree that the 3 are the best at what their main genre is and that the 3 are wonderful as human beings. What troubles me is that Kris is the only one that has found salvation through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and anyone who knows Jesus as his savior, truly leaves behind a legacy of the ultimate accomplishments.
Dean My Bro Rest in Peace Sir you were A Pioneer of your craft and I will never forget you in "Alien" even though you were told time and time again you would never make it as an actor because you didn't have the looks you pressed on ...Thanks from a 21 year old who saw you at the Theater in 1979 🍻
Thank you for posting this video. Touched my heart so much. I have been fortunate to work with all 3 legends. Brings back many memories. Harry Dean Stanton you are missed.
Only just discovered this total and absolutely gem. Three greats. Sadly two only with us in recordings and in our memories now. May they live there forever.
Loved you Harry from "the black marble" to "Alfa Dogs" to "Christine" to "straight time" etc etc. Fine character actor right up there with E Emmett Walsh.
One of the greatest character actors of all time. In his early days in the 1050's and 60's he played in a lot of television shows in a wide range of characters and was billed as only Harry Stanton. He even had a small role in the premiere episode of Combat. He fell into the water trying to get into a landing craft on the D Day landing.
Gutted me when he got gunned down in Bonnie and Clyde. Met him at the HDS festival (ironically I'm wearing the shirt today) and he signed a Ry Cooder album for me. He said of the Irish that the losers write the songs, poetry and play the music. RIP.
@Cynthia Ennis I'm a Harry Dean fan from even old reruns made before I was born. Oh, did you see him in the episode of 2.5 Men? It was called Back Off Mary Poppins, I think. Funny part being he'd played with Sheen and Cryer both in films. As Sheen's dad in Red Dawn. Cryer's friend's dad in Pretty in Pink
thinking just this AM that Stanton and Depp are out of the same mould, creative, creative, creative, the moolah is just a perk. Mr Kristofferson was none too shabby either.
It was so cool when they finally got into the song, with Harry's voice and out-of tune with the guitar, so Depp should have tuned up with the harmonica, which along with Depp's kind-of-okay-guitar playing, and Kristofferson's reserved presence - carried the day, and it is a great testament to Harry Stanton's memory.

Harry Dean Stanton was one of my favorite actors. Greatly underappreciated, I think. Harry was a real renaissance man.
RIP HDS
Johnny supported him so lovingly. Thank you HDS
Harry Dean Stanton my hero he played the Harmonica in Kelly's Heroes. Great actor sadly missed❤
What a terrific man, a brilliant actor. May he rest in peace.
Hope you watch Kelly's Heroes, if you haven't seen it already.
I've loved that guy since the 60's. "The life of a repo man is intense." He lives on!
How many remember a Debbie Harry song, with the line 'I want a man like Harry Dean'. She wrote , sang, and meant it.
