i was thinking the same thing!! i saw him in concert a few yeras ago and he performed 2hr30mins no stopping, his voice perfect the whole time unlike so many artists now losing their voices
My favorite love song of all time. Robert is still with the person he wrote it for. I dedicate it to my wife - a beautiful person I've been with for 58 years.
I remember seeing an ENTIRE 14 hrs of various bands playing at an all day concert. The Cure was headlining and I'd never seen them b4. I endured 90 degree sun from 10 am to 6pm. Got drunk, stayed awake thru the hang over and started my buzz again when they finally came on around midnight. I had listened to some seriously grade A bands at the time (the 90's) and when The Cure came on it sounded like they put a CD in and played it. No distortion, no feedback, no mess ups. PERFECT vocals PERFECT everything. I was BLOWN AWAY!!!!!! They still sound amazing 25+ yrs later.
She was the reason this song didn't become #1 at the Hot 100 Billboard charts in October 1989. Lovesong reached #2 and at the same week, Janet Jackson had a single that peaked the top charts for 4 weeks. I wished Lovesong could then steal her the #1 but it descended the next week to #11.
I recently heard and saw two British TH-camrs claiming Coldplay is the greatest band Britain has ever produced. Its such a shame and crime to ignore a band like The Cures and The Smiths.
Obviously they do not know much about the many amazing bands Great Britain has produced. Let's not forget, besides the Cure and the Smiths: Oh, just some small names: The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks and on and on and on. These two people clearly have some research to do.... MAJOR RESEARCH. Especially if they are British themselves. AKWARD!
Jetzt erst hab ich schon vor 30 Jahren mich begeistern können.hast viel verpasst leider aber schön das du die Liebe zu Robert entdeckt hast .Send from Germany
The Cure, the originators of alternative rock, before even the conception of the genre. I can guarantee the vocals here is all Robert Smith, no autotune required. Thoroughbreds like him don't need that garbage!!!!
What look? (isn't that the way he always looks? LOL) I know nothing about the band but the performance was great. Can't help but wanna know what's the story with that "look" though. Anyone wanna enlighten?
I loved seeing Janet grooving here. She's talked many times over the years about her love of many different types of music. That's mark of a true artist.
His voice never changed. So many male singers lose some of their voice as they get older, especially performing for 30-40 years. His is still so beautiful
Well deserved induction after all these years..Roberts voice and rythmn is still fantastic! Studio quality even at a live performance. No cracks at all. Bravo The Cure!
A good friend told me how good The Cure was. I started to listen and now I know, they are excellent. Lovesong was written for his wife. His songs are very emotional and you can feel it deep on your heart. Thank you Robert for the beautiful and meaningful songs. I'm glad my ex girlfriend told me about them. I have all their albums now. So many good songs, I smile and I cry. Just beautiful !!!
What it must feel like to know that one of the greatest love songs ever written was a wedding gift from your husband ❤ I wish this video had shown Mary looking up at him so lovingly
Yes! I can't think of a more romantic gesture. As an aside, the bass player is a total distraction. I think Robert gave him the stink eye at one point and he took his act to the other side of the stage. A great player, but he I didn't like his bounciness and metal jump that didn't fit. Maybe just me.
I personally think the cure played the best set at ANY of the rrhof ever. incredible. i mean its like listening to the album. there's not a hiccup in theyre performance of any of the songs they performed that night at the rock n roll hall of fame.
Brilliant song... damn it’s been so long and it’s still so damn beautiful 01:29 That’s how real women dig this song... love to see Janet Jackson feeling this tune ❤️
Man, they say you can't go back in time..............I just did with a smile upon my face! Thank you, The Cure, for being a part of my 64 years of life.

you can play this song soo many ways. i miss u my daughter, this is way i see it. you make u feel like iam young again. wishing u best were ever you are😞😞
From the "Disintegration" album. It was the soundtrack to my travels across Asia, 14 months spent backpacking from Bali to India. I hear this song and transports me back to riding the trains in India watching the landscapes go by as I listened to this in my walkman....
I’ll be the 1000th comment. Speaking as an old school raver who saw them at live at Glastonbury in 1990 - f*cking amazing band. Great live sound and an amazing catalogue of songs. This song just does something to me. Listen to that bass line, it’s amazing. Listen to the riff, it’s amazing and the very brief solo is up there with the teen spirit solo but I believe predates it. Play this song at my funeral!
Favorite group, favorite person. Listen to them so long that now I don't really notice Robert's lipstick or make up, or age changes in appearance. All this is so natural and beautiful as his voice. And Robert is so disarmlingly sincere. Beautiful person.
Well deserved...this is my favorite since I was 15. I’m middle aged now. They didn’t ever disappoint. They have stayed true throughout the test of time-not only as music but as a band. Few bands can say they have stayed together this long.
Would everyone agree with me if I say that The Cure is all what we needed now specially against this mtfuckng COVID19 virus?Much love from Manila,PH🇵🇭😍
I woke up last week to this song, and it was awesome! It hit all the emotions of a love lost. It was a contenplative, melancholy, and somber tune! Im late to the party, even though im 50, but the Cure has a new fan in me. This leads voice is timeless, it literally hasnt changed over time. He also seems so humble ,and genuine!
His voice hasnt changed at all.

He needs to get some exercise.
To be fair, it's getting better and better

This song is the coolest wedding gift ever
Robert wrote it for his wife Mary as a wedding present...
@Peruchipac Of course she was.

I started listening to the cure back in the late 70’s, and I’m 61 and still listening. I will always love you !
Ditto. I am 61 also n I will not lie Watching this I am crying... FLY Me 2 The Moon ! lol

That shot of Janet Jackson bobbing her head to The Cure is epic!
She is an amazing beautiful woman! Hope she finds peace...
“Finds peace” ? Why ? Did something happen ?
Susanna Hoffs dancing, lost in the music, beside her is priceless as well!
Everybody from that time loves The Cure/Depeche & New Order. Their genius shows us how awful today's music is- just pure crap.

The cure is still freakin awesome after all these years. Nobody today even compares
