I love Joe! ❤ I’m sure no one will see this, but I’ll throw it out there anyway: My family has owned our home since it was built in 1952, when my mom was 5 mo. old. My grandparents knew all the neighbors. Bc it was a new neighborhood, they’d all moved in together. They socialized together & took care of each other. If someone was sick, in the hospital, lost a loved one, etc - the entire neighborhood would take food & help with anything they needed. My mom & her siblings grew up with all the kids in the neighborhood. Then my siblings, cousins & I did the same, with the next generation - the grandkids. Due to some problems at the home I lived in, Gram & Papa’s was my safe place, where I knew I was loved - & the love extended thru the neighborhood. Myself & 2 cousins lived with them for some years of our childhood. Gram had raised 4 kids, but she said we were like her 5th, 6th & 7th. My amazingly strong mom was finally able to leave a bad marriage when I was 13 & we moved into a home down the street- so I basically still lived at Gram & Papa’s. Gram & all the ladies played games & did church things together. They had daily morning walks- starting at one end of the neighborhood & picking up more ladies as they’d move along. One was a stylist & had a little salon in her basement- reminded me of Steel Magnolias, they’d all get their hair done for the week (lol) & get their (good-natured) “gossip” in. One day when I was in junior high, Papa picked up my backpack & felt the weight of my textbooks. After that, he drove me to school. On the way, we stopped to pick up one of the other grandpas. Every day, Papa would say, “Hullo, Dad!” as he climbed into the truck. I finally asked Gram what they did after dropping me off. She whispered, as if it was a secret & somewhat disgraceful, “They go get coffee!” Those “Greatest Generation” neighbors were all grandparents to me. We grandkids roamed the neighborhood, back when it was still the norm to play outdoors all day & just come home when the street lights went on. They’d always greet us, give us treats, allowed us to climb their trees & play with their pets. We had many slumber parties at each other’s homes or in the summer, backyards- so I feel like I grew up at their homes, too. Some took me boating & taught me to waterski as a young teen. They all watched out for us. When I got into trouble as an older teen & landed in drug rehab (a few times, but I finally got sober) one “grandpa” wrote a letter every week to support me. I still have the letters! During those years I got pregnant at age 18- instead of judging, the ladies gave me a beautiful baby shower. Their kindness dressed my baby in darling outfits & blankets, many handmade with love, & I didn’t have to buy diapers for a year! More than that - they “showered” me with love & acceptance at a time when I needed it. We lost Gram way too early, but we got to keep my Papa till age 90. He continued to mow lawns & shovel snow for the widows in the neighborhood for many years, till he no longer could. I’m lucky to live in the home with my son now. We still have a few of the original grandparents- we visit & share garden vegetables & stories from our lives. It’s been sad to lose them as they go. We just lost a grandpa across the street, who my son had grown close to. He still goes over to talk to the man’s dog & reminds Feather that his dad is waiting for him in heaven. I’ll always be grateful for these neighbors & for being blessed to grow up in this place, in this era. Their level of kindness & commitment to others is something you just don’t see much anymore. We humans need a community of love. People like Joe have no idea what an impact they have on others! This sweet family, dogs & Joe touched so many hearts, inc. mine! “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” We are ALL neighbors across this big, beautiful planet!
@silvergirl8581 😭 oh my goodness love this story! Please write a book of all this perhaps make into series of books! Love in Jesus to you beautiful Silver 🤗🙏💛🕊️

Try and BE that person instead of lamenting the lack of people like that. Start caring for your neighbors and family, showing kindness. Offer to snow blow elder neighbors' sidewalks come winter and make an effort to socialize with your neighbors as well. Too many people ignore their neighbors existance when they could be great friends. Most of the families with dogs on my block are all friends with each other and set up doggy play dates so as the people hang out the dogs get to goof off.
So beautiful, you as a friend to the animals and you as a police officer. I appreciate you and your partner and your great soul neighbor! Thank you for your caring hearts.
As a retired police officer after 26 years of service (including plenty of night shifts) I know the value of a great dog and great neighbors. Love the video.....stay safe my sister.
As someone who used to work night shifts off and on for 20 years I understand how terrible a neighbor's crazy dog next door can be when you're trying to sleep 🤢
So sorry for your loss of Sugar😢 But I'm sure glad you have those two knuckleheads to ease the pain and bring you laughter. 🥰 And Joe, you wonderful man!
Sorry to hear about Sugar. The two energetic ones were so chill around Sugar in the video. As if they new she was dying and just wanted to relax n make her feel comfortable. Loved this video, Thanks for your services too, Blue.
Such a lovely story of a dear family, their precious pups & a beautiful neighbor, Joe, who reminds me of my dear Father, now 88. He & his neighbors are like family. He also has a very special connection w/animals... dogs & cats of course. But even the birds, chipmunks & squirrels come to his stoop, his patio, his windowsills... looking thru the windows for my Dad. They wait for him, at times even call for him, as if to say "Hey! We're here! We're ready for some treats!" Its amazing. I'm actually a bit envious of his glorious gift. Sadly, we are no longer blessed with REAL MEN like my Dad & Joe or the men of their generation. Because of this, our world has become a much different place. They ALL deserve our love, our respect, our prayers & our profound gratitude.💕🙏💕
Great story. What a great neighbor, plus the dogs know a good person when they wait for him. Wish there was more people like this to adopt dogs that are abandoned or left for whatever reason. 👍🏴
Kent and lex look like they are the best dogs, beautiful dogs! RIP little sugar! and the pest part about this vid is what a great animal lover joe is, I wish everyone's neighbor was like joe
I related to this video so much. First off I love this kind of dog where they're crazy and goofy because they make me laugh. I've always with all the dogs I've had just let them be their sappy selves. Also I agree with Joe... spread God's love throughout the world.
I was thinking the same thing! Adjust it so he can come and sit down with the pups and hang out. With a neighbor like that I wouldn't mind finding him in the yard with my pups, lmao! You can tell he clearly loves them and that its mutual. We (us and the neighbor) were considering adding a gate to connect our neighbor's backyard to ours (it's our back fence so we can't just walk next door but would have to go around the whole big block) so we can go in and love up on her golden retriever. We are really close with her and she encourages the neighbors to feel free to love her dog anytime they want. We were going to adjust the fence but she is now considering moving cause family stuff.
First of all, I want to thank you for your service! I know it's becoming more and more dangerous for the police and so again, I thank you 😊 And so, Sugar was so cute. I'm sorry for your loss. Watching the way Kent and Lex are playing together, made me laugh!! Yes, they are goofy!! But aren't dogs goofy anyway?? Watching the video, I laughed. Being goofy is so cute and funny. And that's one reason why I want a dog. But these condos are so strict about pets. I have a cat, who I love with all my heart ❤ Although, I will be leaving soon and when I do, I'm going to make such that I can own a dog. I love Big dogs. I believe that my cat would love a friend. It would make her happy to have a friend. She doesn't like other cats, but she loves dogs! She gets along great with dogs. So I want one, too. Your neighbor seems to be a very kind man. Anyway, Kent said Lex are truly most adorable little (BIG! LOL) dogs. Loved the story. ❤❤🐕🐕
Wonderful story and good video and commentary or narration and I laughed so hard when the one dog has a squeaky toy in his mouth and the other dog is stepping on it to squeak it 😆

That is actually a very wonderful story ,what a beautiful man he is god bless him because I know God will!!
What a great story. Joe needs to be cloned so others can have a great neighbor like him!

There are a lot of "Joe's." It's just that they tend to be humble, quiet and operate behind the scenes. If you are open to a Joe, they'll appear.
My two favorite type of beings - animals and senior humans. ❤️🥰
Rescue's are a different love. They attach to their human and are so thankful for saving them.🐾❤️💕
Wonderful story and good video and commentary or narration and I laughed so hard when the one dog has a squeaky toy in his mouth and the other dog is stepping on it to squeak it 😆
