Request for a new analysis series: Can you watch Inanimate Insanity and analyze some of its characters? Also if you do, please analyze MePhone4 and his trauma with Cobs.(Season 2) His trauma with Cobs was revealed in Hatching The Plan and Mine Your Own Business.
      Some ideas:
      Soap's OCD(Season 2)
      Blueberry's depression(Season 3)
      Paintbrush's IED(Season 2 and a bit seen in 3)
Steve Cobs' manipulation(Season 2, the first episode he was introduced in Theft and Battery, his manipulative nature was revealed in the episode Hatching the Plan and Mine Your Own Business)
Taco's manipulation and narcissism(at the end of Season 1 and throughout Season 2.)
      Clover's ADHD(Season 3)
Of course if you find any other things about the other characters, you can cover that as well!
The reason I requested this is because I like Inanimate Insanity since unlike other object shoes, its not just directed to only kids and you can watch it at any age since season 2 is a bit emotional, especially Mine Your Own Business and Hatching The Plan.

I am the biggest Ryan defender. A lot of people dislike him and find him annoying, even getting mad when he didn't immediately agree to kill Homelander in the last episode.
I don't understand how people don't see his perspective. Mallory dumped all this information on him about one of the only people that he feels loves him and then immediately asked him to kill him, not giving him any time to process. Ryan even said that he might be willing, he just needed time to think about it.
And when he didn't immediately agree, Mallory threatened to trap him in the room, reminding him of what happened to his dad, which of course scared him as he knew how that turned out. So he acted out and threw Mallory out of his way. He definitely didn't mean to kill her, Ryan definitely doesn't know his own strength yet. No he didn't look remorseful, but he was in an angry state and wasn't thinking clearly.
So many people have said "how could he refuse to kill such an awful person? he knows now that his dad is a murderer and rapist" but those people forget that Homelander is his DAD. of course he's gonna have a hard time deciding whether or not to kill him, no one would want to kill their dad
I really hope Butcher is able to feel love for Ryan again. It seems like his humanity is gone at this point, but I really want him to care about Ryan again. Ryan really needs it because he has a heart. There have been so many instances of him trying to be good, but getting shot down because Homelander doesn't WANT him to be good. He needs a stable parental figure that will encourage his good nature, and even though Butcher is not ideal for that, he's better than Homelander

I can see both of them being justified, to be honest. Ryan killed in self defense while put in a vulnerable state, and that's understandable. But I can also understand Mallory's actions, in the sense that when the problem you're dealing with is a guy who took over the country, put it under martial law, and is rounding up people in concentration camps, manipulating and coercing Ryan into helping is quite justified.

    • @Jonjon13Jonjon13
      @Jonjon13Jonjon13 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

@@tudornaconecinii3609 I agree that it's quite justified, still she went the wrong way about it. Not "wrong" in the "this is unethical and you shouldn't try this" but wrong in the sense that it just didn't work, and her foreceful attempt actually made things worse for everyone, included her, obviously. Even if it worked and they trapped the kid there... they still wouldn't be able to force Ryan to do anything, and having trapped him against his will would make him very reluctant to collaborate at all.

Granted he is a likeable kid...but could u imagine being assualted and having a baby as a result...with a very high likliehood he could kill you at any stage accidentally...and raising him as well as she did? I love that they highlight that ryan isnt just good because he 'inherited' it from becca...she managed to parent him beautifully. That hit me so hard...that feeling that you just KNOW your child is good. And butcher started off thinking ryan was a freak...then got to know him and trusted him like becca did. What I loved about Ryan was how he's shown to be in conflict in so many ways. He knows his powers are dangerous and hates hurting people, but he's beginning to understand what his father has been saying about how people will break because they're so fragile. I think that last scene with him looking down at Mallory is him starting to own that. He shows kindness but he also can be vindictive if he thinks you're an asshole and deserve it (scene with him 'helping' the assistant with the pervy director). He's a kid with so much power and him seesawing between being a jerk and being compassionate has been really interesting, and imo very realistic for a pre-teen. Kids can be kind and sweet...and cruel. Ryan is definitely on a precipice here and I'm so curious what he'll end up choosing for himself.

In my eyes I feel as a reasonable person, if I was Ryan I would say screw them and basically leave them.
Homelander did care for Ryan but he did it for his own ego too. He didn't like hate Ryan, but while he did help Ryan master his powers he didn't do well with responsibility. Remember when Ryan was about to get hurt by Stormfront, and his retaliation costed his mother's own life? Or how Homelander he introduced Ryan to his father who wasn't the best morally wise Soldier Boy. I'm sure if Homelander wasn't there I'm sure Soldier Boy would've harmed Ryan. Another thing is that Ryan doesn't want to be Mini Homelander, which upsets him given how he is at his mental breaking point. He is so shocked his "Mini Self" doesn't want to be a super which makes him obssess over Ryan to no end. To be fair Homelander did care for Ryan, but it was a result of trauma too.
As for Butcher he did care for Ryan too but he isn't great at communication skills. Butcher has anger issues plus drinking problems as well as him only caring for Ryan in order to fulfill his late wife's wish. Remember the scene where Ryan is unable to reconcile and that costed Grace Mallory. In hinsight Ryan does care for both of them but in my eyes if the show wants to do it differently, perhaps Ryan should not be with both of them. Out of the two I would say Butcher could help Ryan but even then he isn't great at communication and plus he has the parasite. Of course his vendetta against supes is gonna clash with Ryan.
Overall, I imagine if I was Ryan I would simply leave them. Both of them are already losing it. Homelander is starting to become more hysterical he decides to take over the White House. Vought is no longer his sanctuary, and because he did a poor job running the company I expect his ego will be his downfall. Butcher on the other hand is possessed by a Parasite and now he is going to destroy every single super in existance. His health is already unstable so I don't expect him to help Ryan given his short life span. Overall, I feel whatever happens Ryan deserves a hug. I may not like him but he serves his purpose. Struggling to be a better boy and dealing with a narcisstic monster with an oedipus complex and a hypocritical martyr.

  • @0bliviance
    @0bliviance หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I think you hit the nail on the head. As Homelanders past trauma from his upbringing is not integrated he not only wants to be a father for Ryan, he rather want to be a father for himself, given that he sees Ryan as part him. This also shows merit that he wishes for Ryan to chose HIM, not Butcher as a role model, given that he's riddled with the self-instilled delusion of grandeur or obsession of being the perfect being. How could even a piece of him(Ryan) deny that he is not all what he should and intends to be?
I never thought I'd watch a show partly centralised around a custody battle of the ages.

My favourite outcome of the show would be Homelander sacrificing himself for Ryan. Not as a redemption but this would be the best way to illustrate that he can feel a bit of love, despite all of his trauma. I am sick of seeing villains being the way they are because of child abuse but the only solution is to kill them off.
And it would show Ryan that he was loved and that he really is a hero because he was the one changing homelander a tiny bit. And what is accomplished by Ryan killing his dad? It would just traumatize him more!
HL sacrificing himself would make the world saver, fullwill Butchers goal, save Ryans humanity, break the cirlce of abuse HL experienced by Vought and Soldier Boy and would mean that HL got the one thing he really wanted: love.
This is a win-win for everyone.
After that, Annie and Hughie take care of Ryan for a few years and Ryan can become the real superman.

I hate Mallory so much. Ryan almost definitely would’ve sided with Butcher if she hadn’t freaked out and dumped all that dirt about Homelander on him, and then immediately asked him to kill him. There is no way she could’ve thought that doing that would actually get him on their side.

A lot of people seem to forget Ryan is still a child. Mallory, in her state of panic, dumped so much bad information on a minor who is not emotionally mature enough to process that much information at once. I'm not mad at him. He already told Butcher he doesn't have control of his power. And shame on Mallory for trying to turn Ryan into a child soldier with no experience regarding violence and killing.

A triple cosplay! My favorite is the black leather, which suits Bad A** Georgia (Black Widow Therapist) to perfection! The saying about "sticks and stones" is educational. A stick or a stone WILL hurt if they hit you. You have no choice about it. But the saying teaches the lesson that you DO have a choice whether words will hurt you. Or not. I've never been a controlling person. Which means I've experienced a lot of long suffering. Something controlling and impatient people loath and work hard to avoid.

As someone with siblings around the same age as Ryan, I think he's actually quite well spoken and emotionally intelligent, moreso than the average kiddo his age would typically be. I find it disappointing how many folks are so hard on him, even though he's a character in a story. He's doing a fantastic job navigating his situation and the adults around him. He shouldn't have to, he's just a kid trying to survive, but he's doing good

I hope I'm wrong about this, but I think you're too optimistic to think Homelander will/would take an hypotethical Ryan rejection very well. He's a narcisist, anyone choosing someone else before him is gonna make him blow up as he's done a lot of times before.
Hopefully he has actually grown enough to see that change in him, but I don't think Homelander is redeemable enough to get to that point. I really believe that he will never be proud of Ryan becoming independent if it means rejecting Homelander.
(This is of course taking into account, we're talking about fictional characters and not real humans haha it probably fits more the narrative to be that way, IMO, but in the end it'll be whatever scenario the writers choose)

While Homelander instinctively protects Ryan, Butcher takes time to weigh things before his actions, both might save Ryan but only one does it instantly, their love isn't the same.
Botcher's love isn't unconditional in fact I don't think that he really loves Ryan, more like he's projecting his guilt over Rebecca's death, and trying to do right by her by protecting Ryan as long as Ryan stays in the "right way", as we sow in the season finally he gave up on the kid.
Homelander tries to bond with Ryan and do activities that he thinks Ryan will like because he likes it, he's trying to do his best ( and God knows it's terrible), I don't think he tries to manipulate his son, he's to dumb for that, more like he's teaching Ryan what he sincerely thinks is correct, instead of teaching Ryan about God the teaches He teaches that they're the God😂😂.
Also I don't know if the writers are doing it on purpose or not, but for what it was shown Ryan has no issues with people being hurt as long as he sees it as fair or as being protected/protect himself, as we sow when Homelander killed the man that threw a can at him, when he made the movie director be slapped and Mallory death

The reason I requested this is because I like Inanimate Insanity since unlike other object shoes, its not just directed to only kids and you can watch it at any age since season 2 is a bit emotional, especially Mine Your Own Business and Hatching The Plan.

personally i cannot see homelander as a true narcissist for he cares way too much about genuinity a fears losing people too much which is what ends up causing them to leave, ofc he has a astronomical ego but it was inflated due to vought and his whole persona supporting the concept but when it comes to narcissism to me feels unfitting and i rather see him as borderline person and i feel it makes a lot more sense for the character and rather his acts of grandiosity are not due to essence of being praised but a fundamental lack of self worth and a perpetual feeling of misery.
god i love this villain sm
PD: i also feel it makes more sense even from a genetic standpoint since we see similar traits of craving for acceptance in soldier boy’s which instead choses to put a violent macho facade to pretent to not be hurt by what others say.
id love to know your input on this!

Don’t worry about the comics. In the comics Ryan doesn’t exist. Becca is pregnant too in the comics but dies due to the baby killing her as it claws its way out of her, after which Butcher kills the baby.

It is only an 8 episode show based on a true story of the main lead in the story (and in real life) is stalked by a woman who is mentally ill and stops at nothing to get to him. If you could break down the main leads character because I've known people like him and it is sad to see them going thru this pain. Thank you.

I think butcher is more of a monster than homelander. Homelanders true desire is for love and affection. To be loved and to love someone.
He does horrible shit because of how he was raised and the whole being more powerful than everyone else gets to him. But again, he was raised this way. Tortured as a kid, literally. But just didnt die or show marks, but he felt it all.
    Honelander also suffers from DID.
I honestly think that if you took honelander and he was able to have a woman and son he could love and they loved him back, he would shed his worst parts over time and maybe become more human again.
As for butcher, hes what his name is, a butcher. He cares about no one. He can make excuses and justifications, but through it all, he loves the violence and revels in the blood and chaos. Hes a monster, through and through. He will use anyone, do whatever he can to them as long as it gets him to the next step.
I actually feel bad for homelander, pitty him. I dont for butcher.
