Luego de meterlo al acuario fue cuestión de 1 o 2 horas qué soltó todos sus pólipos y quedo solo el hueso. Desafortunada mente no supe si fue la infección de la gelatina café o la intensidad de la luz. Hoy puse otro Hammer espero que le valla mejor

I accidently discovered how easy it is to frag hammers by simply snapping them off at the base! I was trying to remove my first hammer from the frag plug by bending it at the glue, hoping the glue would release from the plug, only for the hammer itself to snap slightly above the glue! The coral itself was perfectly fine, I just glued it to the live rock and it opened up within an hour.
I bought a frogspawn and the zooxanthaelle in the coral were green and brown. After a while in my tank it was doing really well then one day it didn't expand and it expelled all the brown algae. Right now it is a translucent green. My other frogspawn and hammer also expel brown stuff that I think is coral poop because the polyp acts normal while its "pooping" and they have the same color.

Hello Ali, Im really glad you find this educational. Hammers care a bit more about flow than lighting. Try to place them somewhere where they dont get buffetted by the current. Youll find them much more open.
I just ran into technical issues with my over flow. Which caused a chain reaction. I didn't notice a leaky joint in my over flow. It was slow at first n I assumed it was evaporation. So, added plain rodi. Well then I finally figured it out. Took a week, super frustration. In that week my branching hammer n other corals began showing stress. It happened almost over night, the hammer started to appear to be dying. I then fixed the leak n had tests done. I really thought my hammer died n my frogspawn was not far behind. Well found out, all looked good as parameters went except 2 critical ones. My salinity was 1.020-1.021. n my calcium was 280. Ok with that said, I took water out n added salt to slowly increase salinity. Used fusion 1 n 2, to help increase calcium. One week later I began to see short hammer tenicals. Now after a few water changes n increase on calcium n salinity, hammer is about half way to total recovery. I'm excited. Now this weekend I'm due again for a waiter change. So I almost pulled my hammer out, because I seriously didn't see any life. So these little creatures are great n hardy. I learned to not act hastily, n throw away what appears to have no life. Sorry for the late reply. Ive found my corals like to be left alone more than anything else. Keep your levels (Alk/Ca) constant, take a good look at your flow and find the right ammount of light for your coral. Hammer corals are extremely simple in care requirements, compared to the more complex acros. Think about them like taking care of a cat. 😄

FragboxTV here on TH-cam, a Canadian shop, do have torches touching hammers and fragspawns in several tanks for years without any problem, they say it's a false myth they can't touch.
Yes, there are a couple of tried methods ive read about. If what you want is NEW heads then you should prioritize exposing the "stem" of the coral to light. Or using a more diffuse method of light. Hammer coral heads grow from the growth plate that divides one head from the comon skeleton. You might find tiny buds on your own coral. Exposing them to light stimulates their growth. On the other hand heads become bigger with time. Some people feed their hammers, ive tried this with reef roids but i havent seen much improvement with that. High alk/ca stimulates all stony coral growth. There is a very good video by BRS comparing high alk/ca vs normal alk/ca. For more info on that. Hope it helps.

Ok so i’m totally subbing, but I recently got a shipment from WWC, the hammer I got looks amazing, but it doesn’t seem to be extending all the way. It looks like the hammer at 2:04. I think it could be too much flow, but I no powerheads running on the tank, only my return. I have a Innovative Marine 30L, it’s a AIO. Do you have any other ideas of what t could be? Thanks!!!

Setting up a saltwater tank at the moment. After seeing this video I'm more excited to add a hammer coral colony than the fish.

Just got a single head today its tiny but looks great it's my second coral hopefully it goes well
My oldest hammer came as a tiny one head "test" to see if i could keep corals. Now its more than a softball in size. And still growing

Pretty much just need to keep them away. Hammer will sting the sps with the sweeper tentacles at night. Just give it a good amount of space

Yes they are very hardy! Stories like that really give me some hope for corals in the ocean.

Yep, hammers are pretty much indestructible. But bad flow can piss them off real quick

probably expelling some zooxathely from the move. Make sure to acclimate them to your light

Hi. When u say do a 5 minutes dip in freshwater, is it pure rodi freshwater or u add anything to the freswater?
You could do it in freshwater. however you would have to use a dechlorinator first

Watch for too much flow. They won't open all the way if flow is too strong
