  • American novelist and essayist Siri Hustvedt gives the Vocation of the Writer talk at Holy Cross on April 10, 2014. She is the author of “The Blazing World” (Simon & Schuster), published in March of 2014, and internationally bestselling novels “What I Loved” and “The Summer Without Men.” She has published three collections of essays and nonfiction work including, “The Shaking Woman or A History of My Nerves.” She is the recipient of the 2012 International Gabarron Prize for Thought and Humanities.
Hustvedt talks about the power of language, the quasi-emotions experienced when reading a good story, and fiction as a vehicle for truth.
The event is co-sponsored by the English department’s Creative Writing Program and the Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J. Center for Religion, Ethics and Culture.
