How refreshing that he mentioned his single parent dad and disagreement on his career choice. Nice to hear a story like that instead of endless list of “thank you’s” to people who need to hear their name mentioned to feel good about themselves.
I did too! no one could have done better on broadway or the movie version. his voice sounded just like frankie. both have the gift of singing from god!
I got choked up, as I watched this. What a sweetheart! And I love the look in Frankie's eyes, when the camera briefly cuts to him at the end. It's a little glint of approval, like he respects John for thanking his dad.
He plays Frankie better than the real Frankie. LOVE this guy! His voice is AMAZING! Watch this movie just to hear him sing--he has such a talent. Thank you for sharing it with others!
This man worked his butt off to get where he is today!!! He deserves every bit of this award!!! He is also a kind and generous soul, who gives of his time to many charities!!! Love this man!💋💋💋
You're absolutely right. He's a great guy. Kids today need more positive role-models like him. I mean, think about it. He's ivy league-educated here, also studied abroad, speaks Spanish & Chinese, talented in multiple art areas, incredibly compassionate, killer sense of humor...what more could you want?
I believe he went to brown. I met him this past week in ny, he is the nicest guy you will ever meet. took the time after his show to meet with all of us.
I don't watch the awards so I didn't get to see this back then. Isn't he the sweetest? I just hope Hollywood doesn't ruin this beautiful boy. He's so sweet! I'm a big Four Seasons fan by the way. He did a great job in the movie! xoxo
you were absolutely phenomenal in the movie version I have not seen the Broadway version yet I want to if it ever tours and I'm sure you were phenomenal and that performance also
I saw the Broadway version on tour two years ago and saw the movie over a month ago. Both versions are equally good. Also, Jersey Boys is leaving Broadway this January
No matter what I'm feeling, I always go back to this video. JLY is spectacular, and he's also a very nice man. I have never heard a bad word about him, and he deserves all of his success.
I've fallen in love with John since recently seeing the movie, "Jersey Boys". I'm a bit perplexed by this speech, though. It seems like a very sad speech, as though he's saying that it feels like his father is all he has. 😞 As for not thanking Frankie and the other Seasons, I think he was just caught up in his emotional moment. I mean, he didn't even kiss the woman next to him (assuming that was his girlfriend) when he got up to go to the stage. It almost seems like he was in another world. He may have had a lot on his mind that prevented him from giving a "broader" speech.. and clearly, his dad and his deceased mom were foremost in it. Aw, John. 😓 Congratulations to you. ♥️
Very heartfelt speech and I'm hoping it was his nerves and emotion that made him forget to mention the man who was the true reason he was holding that Tony. Hopefully he thanked Frankie backstage!
For all the people saying John's ungrateful, and dismissive of Frankie Valli... watch THIS video. th-cam.com/video/lcbrq69u6DU/w-d-xo.html Just because he wanted to mention something really personal in his speech doesn't mean he was ignoring The Four Seasons or his cast. Clearly he'd been working LONG and hard for his achievements, beyond just the rehearsal process/previews/show's run. Let him show his gratitude in the way he wants.
Share it with Frankie Vallie, Michael Longoria, share it with the rest of the Jersey Boys cast, and Guadio. Share it with those who truly gave you a shot on Broadway.
D L he can say thank you and appreciate them- but sorry that Tony isn’t their’s. It’s John Lloyd Young’s. He worked his ass off as Frankie Valli and he deserves it all. Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, and Tommy DeVito already have their Tony Award for the “Best Musical”. This is his moment.
I really loved your interpretation in Jersey Boys of Frankie Valli, but I've got to say I got embarrassed for Frankie Valli and the four seasons who stood up and showed so much support for you and you didn't even mention them??? Are you totally serious? Geez.
It’s so nice that Frankie himself gave a standing ovation for John Lloyd Young.
How refreshing that he mentioned his single parent dad and disagreement on his career choice. Nice to hear a story like that instead of endless list of “thank you’s” to people who need to hear their name mentioned to feel good about themselves.
I loved John Lloyd Young in the Jersey Boys movie!
I did too! no one could have done better on broadway or the movie version. his voice sounded just like frankie. both have the gift of singing from god!
kt Amen! I rarely get an opportunity to see an original Broadway cast member recreate his/her performance.
Zack Stark I just heard the news today and it's very sad another jukebox musical is leaving Broadway after a long time.
I got choked up, as I watched this. What a sweetheart! And I love the look in Frankie's eyes, when the camera briefly cuts to him at the end. It's a little glint of approval, like he respects John for thanking his dad.
Well deserved award, and what a beautiful speech! John Lloyd Young is an AMAZING actor and singer!
Cool seeing Frankie Valli & Bob Gaudio in the crowd!
He plays Frankie better than the real Frankie. LOVE this guy! His voice is AMAZING! Watch this movie just to hear him sing--he has such a talent. Thank you for sharing it with others!
Absolutely agree with you. And "yes" I, too, watch the movie "Jersey Boys" just to hear Young sing (and act) --- Great Talent !!!
This man worked his butt off to get where he is today!!! He deserves every bit of this award!!! He is also a kind and generous soul, who gives of his time to many charities!!! Love this man!💋💋💋

That is one of the most beautiful, humbling, grateful acceptance speeches I have ever witnessed....!🙏

GREAT HUMAN BEING
John Lloyd Wright was great in this show
Very heartfelt speech and I'm hoping it was his nerves and emotion that made him forget to mention the man who was the true reason he was holding that Tony. Hopefully he thanked Frankie backstage!
彼は絶対そうしています。このステージで発表するには長過ぎるコメントなので、カットせざるを得なかったんですよ😊🎉🎉

You won super holy shit!
Thankyou John for saving my life xxxx
No video to go along with it? :(
この動画を初めて見た時にJhon の横に座っていた金髪の素敵な女性がアリソンかな?と思ったのですが、それは間違いですか?😅
Didn't the movie come out in 2014?
+Vinny Vlogs He was in the musical long before the film came out
+ArchaicSushi oh ok
Vinny Vlogs :)
I have a cousin her name is Gillian
Share it with Frankie Vallie, Michael Longoria, share it with the rest of the Jersey Boys cast, and Guadio. Share it with those who truly gave you a shot on Broadway.
You are right, he should have shared it with Frankie Vallie, Guardio and the Jersey Cast. That was thoughtless on his part.
You spelt most of their names wrong btw
D L he can say thank you and appreciate them- but sorry that Tony isn’t their’s. It’s John Lloyd Young’s. He worked his ass off as Frankie Valli and he deserves it all.

He deserves it. I love John Lloyd Young. He is the best singer in the world. He is a very sexy man.
